I was watching American Idol like 2 weeks back and while someone was telling their story, a song was playing in the background. I found out it was a song called "colors", I listened to it for the first time and fell in love.
Damn fine music, I still find it crazy that Eric Burton went to my high school, helped me and my buddies out in choir, and was always one of the nicest guys in school.
Why am I not surprised by your comment, Wick the Wise? It seems to me that Eric is a naturally gifted musician and above that, a very kind Dude. I don’t know why I thought this about Eric, but I did. I have watched interviews and have discovered them in the last six months or so and I am in love with everything I have heard so far. Love love this band! 💓 Saw Black Pumas a year and a half ago in Denver, and Eric created such a great rapport with the audience. Very authentic man, and he has awesome dance moves! (BTW, it was a small-ish venue, and after the show sold out in advance, they ended up adding 2 more shows for the weekend. I think BPs were surprised there were at least 2 sold out shows!) Also, heard a wonderful interview with Eric on public radio a month or so ago. Can't recall which station. Find it and listen if you can!
All the awards shows are compromised and to an extent even corrupt. That said, saw this band in Montreal just 5 months before lockdown in March 2020 and they were righteous. An engaged and beautiful show that I won’t forget .
Kicking back watching Eric sing this song at my Brothers wedding 8 years ago I could have never imagined I would be watching Harry Styles singing along to it on the Grammy stage......
First time I heard this song was last year, when I was around 5 months pregnant. I was taking a shower and had to step out the tub to play it again. My daughter is 7 months now and I literally cry every time I see how excited she gets when I play this song either at home or when we’re riding in my car. It gives me the same feeling I got that day. Beyond happy and excited to see the Black Pumas performing tonight at the Grammys. Thank you guys for making such amazing music for the soul ❤️

I remember when they first released it as a "new single" and I immediately thought "oh yeah this is gonna be an f'n hit". Black Moon Rising and Fire were out there and laid their style down, but this one was special from the start.
A few years ago we got Alabama Shakes. Now we get Black Pumas. Every once in a few years we get something really, really special. Something that sounds like the soul of America. Charles Bradley (RIP) was another good example of this.

Eric was emotional.. i think he travelled through the song. His life journey made him this strong human and performer. Adrian’ve made a right decision and both of them look complete together. BP is very inspirational music group i really enjoy the music and the lyrics.
My son is a musician(drummer) in Austin Tx. And he praises these cats all the time. So he asked me to look them up. The rest is history hooked for life. Please listen and enjoy. Don’t forget to go out soon and enjoy live music again.

This year was better than most. Brittany Howard was there. Bruno Mars was killing it. Bill Burr presented some awards to everyone's awkwardness, including himself. Trevor Noah actually had enthusiasm and jokes. WAP was fun if you had elderly people in the room like I did. Decent night.
I actually found these guys by accident a couple months ago while listening to a Kings of Leon playlist. Their album is really good! Can’t wait to see what’s next for them
