No matter what character he plays, he remains that tenacious and dedicated Jackie Chan.

In my eyes he is probably the most dedicated and passionate performer ever (obviously there are greater, but within their respective fields). Most people don't know how lucky we are to have him, it's a shame that as time went on Hollywood seemed to see him as more and more of a slapstick performer and not the seriously devoted action hero he is. Even though his fun and warm personality works so well in those movies. Reading this back it does sound like im gushing more than I intend but growing up watching the man I really fell in love with the work he did and I cannot name another person who lives up to his name. A living (somehow) legend.
I don't know. They say in this video that after they did the first piece on Cruise, people were all over them to do Chan next. That to me suggest people understand just how dedicated, and with all the love and respect, insane he is. I think you misunderstand Jackie's film style. He's always been a slapstick humour guy, he just decided to blend action with it. He's stated before he sees his movies as comedies with action not action movies with comedy. For several years he was forced to play strict action roles which he absolutely hated hence starting his own style of movies with the help of Sammo Hung and Golden Harvest studios.
Jackie literally put his sweat and blood in his movies... and it paid off. he is just as popular as his idol, Bruce Lee. Thank you for many hours of Gasps, Laughs and Awe... Mr. Chan. :D
This video only covers Jackie's injuries and not the other dangerous stunts where he came out mostly unscathed. Some highlights include: rolling on flaming hot coal, climbing a Ferris wheel without a harness, roller skating under a speeding truck, sliding down the side of a falling facade, repeatedly dodging roller coasters, getting hit directly by a van, running up & over a moving car, falling from a helicopter to land on a train, kicking away from a tire of a 120-ton mining vehicle while laying on his back, etc... I say some b/c the video still doesn't feature all of his stunts since he holds the Guinness World Record for most stunts performed by a living actor. In the first Rush Hour, Jackie quickly demonstrated twice how he'll climb a tree before shooting, only to find out that he has to wait for five hours of safety precautions to be set up before he can actually do it on film.
The different between Tom Cruise and Jackie Chan was that: Tom wants to stay alive by time he delivers a movie, Jackie doesn't know if he'll survive a stunt while filming.
He's like Vikings : they didn't die while fighting because they were ready to die and wanted it to happen on the battlefield. He's their cinematic equivalent.

When I saw that helicopter scene it just reminded me the action superstar "Jayan" from our southern state Kerala India who lost his life in an helicopter hanging scene during 80's in the movie " Kolilakkam" which literally means controversy where he fell down from the helicopter while doing a real stunt. Most people don't know how lucky we are to have him, it's a shame that as time went on Hollywood seemed to see him as more and more of a slapstick performer and not the seriously devoted action hero he is. Even though his fun and warm personality works so well in those movies.
Reading this back it does sound like im gushing more than I intend but growing up watching the man I really fell in love with the work he did and I cannot name another person who lives up to his name. A living (somehow) legend.

I don't know. They say in this video that after they did the first piece on Cruise, people were all over them to do Chan next. That to me suggest people understand just how dedicated, and with all the love and respect, insane he is. I think you misunderstand Jackie's film style. He's always been a slapstick humour guy, he just decided to blend action with it. He's stated before he sees his movies as comedies with action not action movies with comedy. For several years he was forced to play strict action roles which he absolutely hated hence starting his own style of movies with the help of Sammo Hung and Golden Harvest studios.
Jackie literally put his sweat and blood in his movies... and it paid off.
he is just as popular as his idol, Bruce Lee.

This video only covers Jackie's injuries and not the other dangerous stunts where he came out mostly unscathed. Some highlights include: rolling on flaming hot coal, climbing a Ferris wheel without a harness, roller skating under a speeding truck, sliding down the side of a falling facade, repeatedly dodging roller coasters, getting hit directly by a van, running up & over a moving car, falling from a helicopter to land on a train, kicking away from a tire of a 120-ton mining vehicle while laying on his back, etc... Google "Every Jackie Chan Stunt Ever" to come across a 26+ minute video of some of JC's death-defying feats. I say some b/c the video still doesn't feature all of his stunts since he holds the Guinness World Record for most stunts performed by a living actor. You'll never see that stuff in his Hollywood movies b/c American studios don't allow filmmaking w/o insurance coverage. In the first Rush Hour, Jackie quickly demonstrated twice how he'll climb a tree before shooting, only to find out that he has to wait for five hours of safety precautions to be set up before he can actually do it on film.

When I saw that helicopter scene it just reminded me the action superstar "Jayan" from our southern state Kerala India who lost his life in an helicopter hanging scene during 80's in the movie " Kolilakkam" which literally means controversy where he fell down from the helicopter while doing a real stunt.
