@@JaxNovoa509 The first special is Christmas Who? and it's the absolute goat. But It's a Spongebob Christmas! is a good second one sir! The crew took ABOUT five months to shoot the entire special (since this is stop motion), and it must have totally been worth it! According to the official Spongebob wiki, they started production on it in October 2011, and wrapped it all up in May 2012! A sneak peek of the episode aired on Nick in June 2012. The episode finally premiered on CBS in November 2012, before it premiered AGAIN on Nick in December 2012! It's based on a song Tom Kenny and his partner wrote. Love how Patchy the Pirate introduces us to this iconic Christmas special (parodying a character from Santa Claus is Comin' to Town), showing us that he stole this mail truck from a mailman and tries to deliver his letter to Santa! Going through the subplot, he tries figuring out how to get to the North Pole. And that's by singing Jingle Bells! But Potty insists that instead of that song for directions, he sings to him Here Comes Santa Claus. Soon enough, Patchy accidentally runs the truck over a literal fork in the road and it spins out of control! Eventually, the truck crashes into a snowy hillside (with the mailman narrowly escaping) and they catch a flat tire. He freezes outside (because da Christmas season is cold, DUH) and insists that the audience watching at home makes hot cocoa while Potty builds him a fire. Still so cold, he has NO FOOD OR WATER for over 20 minutes! He hallucinates Potty as a plate of buffalo wings (that reminds me of DOMINO'S, back when they didn't suck) with a side of bleu cheese dressing. Potty then hallucinates Patchy as some sort of bird seed cake thing! And he pecks Patchy. Eventually, Patchy realizes that he's at Santa's Workshop (ANOTHER hallucination), and tells Santa the one thing he really wanted for Christmas. To meet Spongebob! Sadly, that's actually a polar bear trying to eat Patchy. Santa calls the stealing mail truck scheme NAUGHTY to Potty! The main plot is what's more important though! Spongebob (and friends) starts singing Santa Has His Eye on Me (CLASSIC), before Plankton tries to invent a diabolical scheme to get the Krabby Patty Secret Formula for Christmas! Giving everyone in Bikini Bottom jerktonium induced fruitcake. He tries giving some to Spongebob, but he's too jolly to be affected by that! Spongebob then spreads the fruitcake to everyone, including at a holiday parade (with the song Hot Fruitcake playing here). And Plankton? Then uses a Spongebob robot as Plan B to destroy Christmas. Everyone seems to put the blame on REAL Spongebob, who appears to have ruined the season! Even Sandy, but with a special analyzer (that has fruitcake in it), an antidote was made to cure the townsfolk! The song Don't Be a Jerk It's Christmas (ANOTHER CLASSIC). Now that everyone's back to normal, Santa shows up! But it's too late. Everyone's on the naughty list, except for Plankton! Who FINALLY gets the formula. However, "Plan B" is still on the loose and tries to stop Santa, but Spongebob puts a stop to it with fruitcake! Eventually, Santa has regained his trust! And punishes Plankton with coal. At the end? Patrick sneakily catches Santa! I like, totally remember seeing the premiere of this on Nickelodeon back when I was only 13 years old on December 6th, 2012. It was such a magical session in time that will sadly NEVER happen again! Since a premiere of TV show episode ONLY happens once! I wish to relive that so bad!! :(
6:28-6:58 I will admit, when I watched some of that special I thought in my head at first “Rosie and Rowdy are just sneaky little ragamuffins. How bad can they be?” But after watching what they did I then thought angrily “😡Those devious little brats! I oughta feed them to either a hawk or bobcat for stealing their sister’s concoction to make the tree bigger, making Santa crash, and Sandy gets blamed for it!” 7:11-7:41 I feel the same way. I hated how the twins didn’t even fess up for what they did to Santa before. Least it was all fixed in the end in a way.
They DID look very cute, until they pulled that mean prank on Santa! Those little shits. How dare the writers put the blame on their big sister Sandy after Santa Claus crashed his sleigh into the giant tree, causing him to fall like a bomb (complete with obnoxious falling whistle from Hollywood Edge) and painfully hit each branch (that sound was cut every time he smashed into one). I wanted to help revive a Christmas loving Spongebob after he fainted into Patrick's arms! And make those babies go away!! :( Rowdy and Rosie didn't even apologize for what they did, so Sandy shut them up! I liked that part. AT LEAST a happy ending was made! But I was expecting Santa Won't Let You Down to play during the part when the Cheeks family was in the sleigh with Spongebob in it. Why? The Missed opportunity was John Goodman voicing santa. He was a good voice actor for santa but instead Santa in the latest special sound like iago from Aladdin.
I remember watching Saving Bikini Bottom The Sandy Cheeks Movie and imo it wasn't all that great for the most part. Really the only thing I like about it is Sandy's entire family and the Sandy Cheeks song that played in the end credits of the film. The Christmas special on the other hand, is an improvement over the Netflix movie! ❤
They should make ANOTHER sequel to It's a Spongebob Christmas! and do it right this time (since Sandy's Country Christmas sucks)! Include more Spongebob Christmas songs from the actual It's a Spongebob Christmas! album (like Santa Won't Let You Down, Christmas Eve Jitters and Ho Ho Hoedown), as well as the theme song. Don't hurt Santa! Add Patchy the Pirate and Plankton. Make the plot worthwhile! And the crew will spend AT LEAST another five months putting it all together, before it will air in DECEMBER of next year, or whenever they'll finish the new episode.
That Good? I'm amazed! However the one upcoming SpongeBob movie that I'm looking forward to is the Plankton Movie. Now I'm not going to give any spoilers, but all I can say is that it will serve as a redemption from the previous one.
he never intended that. its obvious that the 1st season did try to test out the waters if they could be a couple, but it was obvious it would ruin the show and it was better as a funny show without the romance
Huh, I thought this was the weakest Christmas special. The plot takes forever to start. To quote Milhouse from the Simpsons "When are we going to get to the fireworks factory!" I much prefer the first 3.
Yeah man! I prefer the first 2 over this! Especially It's a Spongebob Christmas! The FIRST Spongebob stop motion Christmas episode from good ol' 2012. That one NEVER gets old to me!
I’m just bothered by the fact that Rosie Cheeks was de-aged. In season 12 there was a whole episode about Rosie being the oldest sibling and having triplets. Now she’s a twin and the youngest sibling? Also aren’t Sandy and Randy twins too?
Because it is Hamantha!! At least, regarding Spongebob Christmas episodes!! >:( Nothing I was predicting when the episode was announced even appeared in Sandy's Country Christmas by the premiere day! This includes the iconic Spongebob Christmas theme song (should've been remade for widescreen), the return of Patchy AND Plankton, the Sandy siblings being punished by Sandy for their mean prank on Santa Claus and no extra unused songs from the It's a Spongebob Christmas! album like Ho Ho Hoedown (very fitting), Christmas Eve Jitters and Santa Won't Let You Down! That last one is one of my favorites, and is so underrated but gives me REAL happiness! :(
…I’m sorry what? All I knew about this special besides it being stop-motion was the fact that it involved that awful Sandy movie and with how badly that went down, I thought it was wise to run away as if I had insulted Texas. I understand that the use of stop motion can and, evidently, did help the capitalism go down quite a bit, but…I don’t know how and/or why Saving Bikini Bottom got involved with something genuinely well-received like this after just being what it was. I can totally get behind the vindication of The Patrick Show, that’s all I’m saying lol 😂
You're very lucky you didn't experience the Sandy Movie, probably the worst thing to ever come out of this franchise. Anyways, great video Ms. Spongeboomer! I love Christmas Who to death but hadn't seen any of these other specials, so thank you for (nostalgia critic warning) watching them so we don't have to. You're much braver than I for foraging through such slop lol.
Honestly, I didn't think it was awful either when I saw it. It's definitely not as good as the other SpongeBob movies, and the human actors were definitely the worst part of the movie for me, but other than that, I just thought the movie was okay.
@AlphaJayShow I would say it was better than I thought when it comes to the christmas sponge bob and getting to know sandys family is cool but should have been treated as a bigger deal considering sponge bob and sandy are seen as a cuple throughout the shows history
I was never crazy about that stop motion SpongeBob Christmas, but the "Don't be a jerk" song was always so funny. I still, I hate their stop motion style, I prefer the 2D one better. I know they were trying to resemble the old Rankin Bass stop motion style but it's giving more Tim burton and I hate tim burton's style stuff.
Not related, but would you ever want to cover an episode from 101 Dalmatian Street, one of Disney Channel’s less talked about shows due to lack of exposure? Not forcing, only curiously asking.
Same, sir! Only the animation was good, and the old holiday music tracks used in it as well! Everything else about Sandy's Country Christmas really freaking sucked. From using an obnoxious bomb whistle sound effect (broken up for Santa falling directly into each tree branch), to not including the iconic Spongebob Christmas theme song, this episode will NEVER be as loved as the iconic It's a Spongebob Christmas! from 2012, back when Nickelodeon was semi decent channel to watch!! :(
I also hate that it essentially makes the movie canon. And also Slappy’s design was in my nightmares the night after I saw this episode. It’s honestly scarier than the entire Krabby Patty Creature Feature episode (an episode I actually really like)
@@JordaneseTyphoon-jk6fr Yeah! I hated the fact that Sandy's siblings didn't even get punished for doing a mean prank on Santa!
They should do more stop-motion SpongeBob.
They can’t handle it lowkey.
@ I know.
They use it alot in the Patrick Star Show.
Fun fact. You suck. @@TMJRedux1999
Happy holidays everyone!
Johnny Cash transcends a simple genre. Johnny Cash is Johnny Cash.
That Good? I'm amazed! However the one upcoming SpongeBob movie that I'm looking forward to is the Plankton Movie. Now I'm not going to give any spoilers, but all I can say is that it will serve as a redemption from the previous one.
7:33 spongebob did the thing
Still better then The Sandy Cheeks Netflix movie
I wish sandy and spongebob went back together as a couple as hillenberg attended
he never intended that. its obvious that the 1st season did try to test out the waters if they could be a couple, but it was obvious it would ruin the show and it was better as a funny show without the romance
@Radeon_knocks nope
The plankton movie was really good
Huh, I thought this was the weakest Christmas special.
My question is, what the hell did Randy do to the point the police are chasing after him to the point of them going under water to try and catch him?
This SpongeBob Christmas Special almost as Great as Christmas Who
I’m just bothered by the fact that Rosie Cheeks was de-aged. In season 12 there was a whole episode about Rosie being the oldest sibling and having triplets. Now she’s a twin and the youngest sibling?
Also aren’t Sandy and Randy twins too?
Not the first time the SpongeBob franchise has deaged a character.
Just last night I saw a review calling this the worst Christmas special 🤔
Because it is Hamantha!! At least, regarding Spongebob Christmas episodes!! >:(
Nothing I was predicting when the episode was announced even appeared in Sandy's Country Christmas by the premiere day! :(
@ Holy paragraph-
@TMJRedux1999 you are clearly artistically passionate.
But good news, you're wrong
@@Hamantha I'm the paragraph master!
@ I think it’s good they’re passionate! But I do worry about how vehement they are
YOO
Love your video and keep up the great work you are awesome
I don’t think it’s the twins fault. Santa easily could have swerved around that tree
How did they succeed with the Sandy Cheeks stop-motion special but got cooked with the Sandy Cheeks movie?!
Sand-E vs the Christmas Apocalypse episode 3, Hamburger Helper is coming up next on The N
The Sandy Cheeks movie was an abomination. But this stop motion special felt like step up from that.
At least made up from her least movie -for now anyway until the try again next time for there on comeback similar to The Last Wish-
WE ARE SO BACK!!!
Randy is supposed to be Sandy's twin but he looks nothing like him
There has been a movie where they participated 0:47
I still don't think Sandy's spin off film was awful.
Me too.
Honestly, I didn't think it was awful either when I saw it. It's definitely not as good as the other SpongeBob movies, and the human actors were definitely the worst part of the movie for me, but other than that, I just thought the movie was okay.
if granny cheeks made presents while the elves were on strike does that count as crossing the picket line
Sup Dinglebob
Ha ha, Dinglebob! XD
🙃 expected it to be bad
Same! Unless, they had all the things I was hoping would appear in it! :(
I feel like Sandy's movie was able to fix Sponge On the Run. I kinda like it, but it's not that fun.
What bugs me about those two brats is that they're retcons of of those three brats named after nuts and nobody likes retcons
There’s a what? Was this a redemption arc?
It should've been the worthy sequel to It's a Spongebob Christmas! But sadly, it was not! :(
Yeah because Jackass Johnny Knoxville voicing Randy
Where’s plankton in all this
He should be added in the another sequel to It's a Spongebob Christmas! :(
Now I'm early enough to become top comment and have no idea what to write
Under 30 seconds 👇
@Jared-642 me :)
Honestly I wasn’t a fan. Liked the animation, but that was about it for me.
Also hated that any song from the It's a Spongebob Christmas! album (except for Santa Has His Eye on Me, Hot Fruitcake and Don't Be a Jerk It's Christmas) was not even used. I was really expecting Santa Won't Let You Down to play! As that's my favorite holiday tune.
‼️💜‼️
This episode was so awful it hurts not been the stop motion is that good like why does Patrick and Larry look so wrong
God loves ya,repent
I don't care if it is of good quality. The SpongeBob Franchise is dead to me. -_-
I agree with you! :(
@TMJRedux1999 Yeah. Nick has done too much damage to Stephen Hillenburg's amazing cartoon filled with creativity, originality, an amazing atmosphere, and great characters. :(
RIP Stephen Hillenburg 🙏
And you're dead to us
@@alitafullarmor5957 The same thing is happening with Penguin Random House tarnishing Eric Hill's legacy when it comes to making new Spot books after his death!
RIP Eric Hill! :(
Lol. Did we watch the same episode? This was forgettable & boring. I literally can barely remember anything from it.
I enjoy modern SpongeBob (kinda). But this was just bad.
The stop motion is cool. But if you exclude that. This is just a very boring & forgettable special.
The fact people are defending this is hilarious. Yeah it's stop motion, doesn't mean it's good
Sandy's Country Christmas actually has a completely different feel to It's a Spongebob Christmas! Everything about it was not done in a similar way as the last episode! :(
I really hated the part where Santa fell down, and Sandy was blamed for causing that mean prank. HER SIBLINGS CLEARLY DID IT!! I do enjoy some modern Spongebob, but this is one of the worst episodes ever in my opinion! The animation was one of the only good parts about it! The other being the old music tracks used.
People are blindly praising this episode just because it's new! Why, just why?! I hated it from the original airing, and I still hate it now!
@@TMJRedux1999 fun fact. Youre very unintelligent. Of course it's nit the same as an episode from over 10nyears ago.
