Hellloooo! My name is Clancy and I'm originally from Long Island, NY, whch is about 40 minutes from NYC. In 2017, I moved to Ohio to become a TV news reporter, but after waking up at 2 a.m. for 5 years, I decided to leave that job and pursue RUclips full-time.
I recently bought a house in Cincinnati and love making all kinds of videos, focusing on everything from money and finances (saving, budgeting, and being financally independent in your 20's) to health, fitness, and nutrition, to beauty and fashion.
I LOVE making "what I spend in a week" videos in the cities I travel to and love week in my life-style videos the most! Let me know if there's anything specifically you want to see!
*NEW VIDEOS EVERY SATURDAY AND WEDNESDAY*
Can you imagine this baby boys eyes when he is born? Between Clancy’s eyes and Zac’s eyes, they are going to be beyond amazing. Hugs. 💙👶🏻💙
Aww haha thank you!!
Hi Clancy! My 15-year-old dog passed away yesterday, and I'm heartbroken. My husband surprised me with breakfast in bed this morning, and put on your latest video on my iPad to try and lift my spirits a little. It's not quite working yet, but it's definitely entertaining me, so thank you for that!
I’m so so sorry to hear that 😢 I know nothing will make it “better” right now, but your dog was so lucky to have an owner as loving as you clearly are. You’re in my thoughts and prayers 🩷
Sending smiles 😊 hope you have a great week 😊 see ya Wednesday
I'm so sorry for your loss😢
Lost my cat of 12 years back in January and it’s still hard! I’ve actually never know grief like this, so you are not alone! All you can do is rest, take care of yourself, keep up healthy habits, and indulge in all the things you find enjoyable! YT videos definitely helped to distract & entertain me. Take care! 🥹
My husband and i do, what we call, the wait method. If we soemthing new, no matter what it is. We dont buy it. We save it, and if in a month we still really want it then we get it. But 95% of the time we realize it was a waste and we didnt really want it. We just got caught by impulse marketing.
I love that!!!!
My husband and I did the Dave Ramsey financial freedom thing in 2007 and got completely debt free and saved $17,000 in less than two years. We started out by both of us writing down everything....we were shocked in the amount of money that we were pissing away on the little things. The habits we learned back then have saved us a ton over the last ten years.
Omg that’s amazing!!! You should both be so proud!
Dave is THE BEST!!
I dont have credit card debt. Never did. If I can’t pay cash I don’t buy it. I don’t eat out or do any Uber eats or door dash. I don’t need clothes. I paid my home off in half the time. I don’t drink or smoke. No gym membership. Sounds boring but it’s a stress free way of living. I have a pool, we swim and play games. I have two large dogs that I walk or hike with. We go on road trips in the RV. I do not get my nails done. I got my eyebrows tattooed, eyeliner er and lips. In a dr office setting. So I spend money every other year for touch up. I e always been prepared for the rainy day or the crash of society. I grew up poor, and my parents grew up in full blown depression. I instilled in my children to save for that rainy day. Everything I own is paid for. I am truly blessed. Thank the Lord for guiding me long with a strong work ethic.
I’m wondering if you’ve calculated the savings by also subtracting the cost of the replacements. Like instead of nail salon, you do press ons, and instead of coffee shops you use your machine at home. Did you factor in those costs?
Also try thrifting for certain things! Clothing is so much cheaper and you can find new with tags if you look around.
Reusable period products (silicone cup, washable pads), rags for cleaning rather than paper towels, shopping bags as trash bags. Those are just a few off the top of my head! Great topic.
That blue blouse is perfect on you!!! Thanks for all your amazing videos over the years and open nature .. it is the best !
Thank you so much!
Thank you Clancy! Praying for a healthy and safe delivery (when it's time). My advice you never asked for, bring a folder to the hospital. Like one for school with pockets/prongs. They give you lots of info making your baby a legal person and you'll have a place to put it, along with discharge info, appointment cards etc. Then when baby is older you can use it to store SS Card, Birth Certificate, Immunization record etc 🩵💙🩵💙
Oh wow, I hadn’t thought about that - thank you!!!
Another great money saving tip for beauty services is to try out a local cosmetology school. I can get a gel manicure that lasts 3 weeks for $15. I recently got a highlight, tone and haircut for $55 total. Worth a try for those on a beauty budget. Love your videos!
I try to avoid buying name brand products at the store (when you can get store brand). My exceptions: tampons & paper products-those are worth the splurge!
As a recent strategic communications graduate, I love your finance advice! I still quote your old videos when making financial decisions “pennies equal dollars”
Love this kind of video!!! thank you for these tips!!!
Stay at home mom, military income which isn’t much, but I’m still getting coffee everytime I go to town. It’s my one treat I don’t even care
I think it’s all relative. Some people don’t order food out but might buy lottery tickets. Some might don’t buy new clothes each week (I don’t) but some might have a gym membership. I will say the one thing everyone could do is not use credit cards unless you pay in full each month. I think people get so far in with credit debt that they don’t how to get out of it. On a side note you look pretty in your dress. You & Zac (and, Asher) must be very excited.
Good morning, Clancy. Thank you for the tips on saving money 💰
Loved this type of video!🙌🏼
I love your money videos. And I needed this today 😘
Thank you for watching! 🩷
Wait till you have children and it adds a whole new layer to this. Gotta be strong!! It’s the legos that get you. There’s no real off brand sadly.
Hey Clancy! All great tips. I don't believe in car payments either so I end up keeping cars for at least 10 years. Also, the biggest tip I give to folks is if you enjoy fitness and have some free time, work some part-time hours at a gym. There are part-time positions available at the YMCA and other gyms. They don't pay a lot, but the membership is FREE!
When I’m at an event place, I don’t really drink alcohol, and usually want Gatorade. So I will buy the $4 water vs the $7 gatorade. And I will sneak in a powdered gatorade packet.
Love! Love! This Video! You are wise beyond words!❤
I loved this video and agree with many of the tips you shared. Question, how do you and Zac manage finances as a couple? Any tips?
Hi Clancy, did you know that AG1 is not approved for pregnant and breastfeeding women in Germany?
I live in Germany and it says so on the packaging. I just thought I'd say that in case it's not on the packaging in the USA. So I'm sure you've discussed everything with your doctor, I just wanted to make sure. 🙈❤
My doctor said it’s fine! Of course, check with yours if you’re pregnant though!
A quick Google search shows it’s not recommended here in the US either.
Love this video Clancy, I’m definitely going to be making some changes. 💗Can’t help but laugh though when you was saying the savings per year it reminded me of the film Matilda with her father reading out the figures of his car sales 😂😂
I was so thrown off by the holiday this week that on Thursday, I kept refreshing RUclips at 10:01 and wondering why you hadn't uploaded! 😅 Happy (actual) Saturday!
Hahaha holiday weeks are always so weird!
I’m not a name brand clothes person and always buy on clearance out of season. I bought my daughter a great jean jacket for $5 today. It will be perfect for this fall.
At one time I had credit cards to everything. Now if we want something or want to travel, we save up for. It really makes you think about those purchases!
I’m getting married in 2 weeks and I’m doing my own nails using Glamnetic 😂🤷🏼♀️ it’s cheaper, quicker, and I don’t have to spend hundreds at the nail salon
Whooo hooo an unsponsored video 🎉🎉🎉🎉 I appreciate those more lately
Agree with everything except the precut fruit. I’m lazy and kept throwing out good fruit I never cut. And at Aldi it’s a reasonable price
Wholeheartedly agree with all of these! I would add alcohol to that, but luckily I am allergic, so I don’t have to deal with it. I would also add eyelashes. No one actually cares about your nails (only that they are neat & clean) and no one cares about your lashes either! Do it for you, not for others, but don’t weigh your self-esteem on whether or not your lashes & nails are done! 🤷🏻♀️
Clancy! Just had to drop by and tell you that you have me COMPLETELY ADDICTED to Freida McFadden. I read One by One in about a 12 hour span and am now almost done with The Inmate. I am so hooked! Any recommendation for which I should read next?
Hi mrs Clancy you are glowing in this video 🙏
Loved the video! Great ideas. Also I love saving money by buying used stuff over marketplace. Especially baby stuff is sooo much cheaper and you use clothes for a few weeks/months only anyways
I completely agree with all of this. Especially books and nails - LOVE them but the cost is just so hard to justify!!
The only thing I mightttt disagree on is a gym membership because it can be so easy to put off working out when you can do it "anytime" at home and then you just never do it. Sometimes having paid for a membership/class adds enough motivation to use it/get your money's worth, and long term that's going to be better for your health and well being, especially when there are some pretty reasonable options out there, like blink, planet fitness, class pass is a bit more expensive but again, if you're not picky and like switching things up, the commitment to a time is helpful so it can definitely be worth it.
One thing I also hate paying for is breakfast at a restaurant. It usually isn't anything special and doesn't taste better than what you can make at home, it's the easiest meal to make at home, doesn't involve a lot of ingredients, and would probably cost you $2.50 instead of $25... the mark up on breakfast is particularly insane IMO. A social event every once in a while is fine, but being mindful not to do it just out of boredom or habit when it doesn't add any extra value to your life can really add up.
If I can save money, I’m in. I can be frugal at times. A little here and there. It starts adding up.
Yes it does!! 👏🏻
for clothing, i only thrift or buy second hand. saves me a ton of money!
Where did you get your shirt.. or dress? I NEED to know! You are GLOWING!!!!
Abercrombie!!! Thank you! ❤️
That dress is so gorg on you! That blue is your color for sure
Thank you!! ❤️
I love how I watch this video to see if I can learn anything, and I already do all of these tips 😂 Frugal folks, unite.
Yes ! Me and my husband live the same way, and I agree ! Even when we didn’t make a lot of $ , we never felt uncomfortable because we always had savings
Which eltamd sunscreen do you use? UV clear or UV daily?
Good morning & Happy Saturday!
Happy Saturday!! ☀️
Thrifitng your clothes off of things like Facebook marketplace, thredup, Poshmark and mercari is a great way to save too! I got a brand new pair of halara jeggings for like half the price on Poshmark.
Being Canadian and having to pay $0 after having a baby (6 years ago) are you going to get a big bill in the mail after the baby?
Loved this video even though I practice a lot of this already ❤ I’m the same way with eating dinner in during the week and then weekends we order out as a family of 4.
I’ve cut back on spending in a lot of these categories too and it’s so worth it! one tip I’ve loved for the summer is getting a cute reusable travel cup for ice drinks and then making them at home and bringing them on the go - like smoothies, iced tea, etc!
Hey Clancy! Can u link the dress? Blue is my color and multi blue is my passion! Luv it, style is sweet! ❤️🩷
love this perspective- how much it costs a year is really eye opening
Clancy…. I’ve been a fan for sooo long but now that I saw the UK onesie… Go Cards!!! 😂😂
Hi Clancy! I'm currently a college student trying to save money and not fall into the trap of blowing the little money I have on silly stuff, haha. Thank you SO much for these money-saving videos! This helps so much :)
Do you ever worry abt getting nail fungus underneath the press on nails!
Nails are so expensive in the US. I get my nails done every 3 weeks and it’s £28 which is $35 and we don’t have to tip x
I got rid of my Amazon Prime !! Yes I know the shipping is kind of expensive.. but usually when I buy stuff from Amazon, I don’t need it right away. I felt like when I had my Amazon prime I was buying something every week or every day with it now I limit myself to why I buy from Amazon.!
For my sending it’s hard I’m on disability due to life threatening and life limiting conditions, I’m 29 in a month, I have very little energy. I am also feeding tube reliant into small intestines stomach paralyzed.
I get a drink every evening from Tim Hortons or Starbucks. I can have liquids but not solid food and I struggle with eating in the evenings so I have a drink every evening because it helps me.
I also do little things that cost more money but I have too things like in out of coffee creamer I go ti the gas station because I can’t walk the whole grocery store for one thing it saves energy so while it’s a bit more it’s what works for me in daily life
I use reusable Keureg filter cups and reduced caffeine Folgers coffee. I’m happy with that😁
Cotton rounds and cotton balls! I keep some on hand for travel and nail polish remover but I use all reusable/washable things like “make up eraser” brand
I hate how social media pushes people to not live realistically! Thank you for the tips!!!
Very good video!
One thing that I did at the beginning of the year was to DOWNGRADE a ton of my subscriptions. $17 a month for Netflix is insane, but $7 is doable. Same with Disney+, etc. Yes, now you have ads and can't share on as many devices, but depending on your usage it could work. And there actually aren't a crazy amount of ads! I also dropped the extra coverage that I had gotten on my phone when I had gotten it years back... switched my electricity to comfort billing (but knowing that it could get reassessed at the beginning of the next year). I cut my husband and 2 sons hair because $20+ per person per month-2 months is insanity!
I'm pregnant and it was the SAME way with me with food. I have gotten take out and not eaten food in my fridge SO MUCH more than usual! it's so hard when food just makes you nauseated! I get it!
Great tips
Also, if you don't have it, you can load 2 separate library cards to your Libby account. For example, I have my local county library as well as the main Cincinnati library. You just need a driver's license from NKy or anywhere in OH to get a Cincinnati main library card. The main Cincinnati library will have much better hold times. Great Alone by Kristin Hannah, 19th in line at Cincinnati main and 1,158 in line at my local library, saving me several months of wait times. Since they are e-books, it literally doesn't matter. I will check both and pick the shortest wait.
My Libby app only lets me have 6 holds 😭😭 I’m always waiting MONTHS too, they never have ANY book I want ready to read 😢
Purposely ignoring the book comment 😂 shhh
You and I are so similar lol I don’t spend money on the things you mentioned either.
Clancy, great advice. on the nails.
You mentioned you only buy clothes that are on sale. Yet I see you shop for clothes quite frequently. How much of those clothing items are an absolute need verses a want. If you truly want to save money on clothing, then give it a monthly budget amount. Also, remove one clothing item every time you come home with a new item.. then donate it or sell it. If you sell it, then take the sale $ and add it to pay off your house faster. Consider doing a video of an entire month of not purchasing any new clothes. You could inspire others to save even more. You can always wait till after the baby is born to do a no shopping for an entire month.
Btw, you look amazing in blue.
You know what’s crazy? Me eating at work, actually SAVES me money. Cause, my company subsidizes plant based food 100%. So instead of meal prepping for 2 people, per week, when my husband wasn’t laid off, we would save more money. I’m actually sad that I won’t be able to have free lunch on my maternity leave lol.
Me with all my credit card debt LOL 😂 lord this video made me feel like shittteee lol
You look gorgeous love that top and earrings!!!
One that came to mind was hair removal or razors. Safety razors are a better investment for the plant and purchasing blades is like a few dollars depending on the one you get. Either that or IPL devices as that’s a one time purchase. And Ulike has a device that can cover a broader range of skin and hair.
The worst thing anyone can do is leave me alone in Barnes & Noble
Clancy I really really needed this video thank you very much 😁💖💖
Thank you!:)
Preach about the watermelon. I take it a step further and have a wonderful veggie and herb garden.
We stopped buying new furniture, we only buy second hand furniture now! (With exceptions, like our mattresses, baby bassinets and so on). BUT our bookshelves, side tables, dressers, TV stand, desks, dining table, breakfast table, rocking chair, even a couch, all from the thrift store or fb marketplace! We saved THOUSANDS of $$.
I love all of these but the coffee that's my mental health coffee lmao
Hahaha i totally respect it!!!
Your top is gorgeous! I've managed to raise a family, never having any credit card debt. I do go nuts at Christmas, but I plan for it all year and pay with cash/debit. It's too depressing to pay for things way after the fact.
Thank you!! 🩷 and that’s awesome! 👏🏻
I rarely buy a coffee or tea out. I like mine at home much better and I can control the sugar. I never go out to the movies. They are very expensive, and I occasionally rent a movie at home. I hope you have a great week, and continue to have a great pregnancy!
Agree with a lot of this. Wanted to offer this as a corollary: if you spend up on bags, clothes, jewelry, it’ll last you longer than a $20 necklace. Not that you have to buy designer. Designer and quality are not the same!
Also, the library has large print material which I need. The downtown library has a great selection. I learned how to make my own iced tea, so much less expensive than like Arizona. And it's better for you than soda. The library has this new feature where they will say how much money you saved by using the library. I laughed the first time I learned that.
I no longer go out to bars every night to play pool and buy drinks has saved me a lot
You can save money by buying vegetables and meat to cut instead of prepackaged ones
I know you mention coffee. But I buy coffee but not salads/sandwiches out! Which could save you a lot of money too 😊 also airport coffee is always more!
💓🐕 Asher:
K ma, is it my turn to go into frame?!
Need to be better about saving since I’m buying a house this year
Clancy,
Can we please get the recipe for the muffins 😊
Agree with everything except for organic food. You need to look at the fruits and vegetables on the list that you need to eat organic and buy those. You need to purchase wild caught fish as well. Farmed raised fish has too much chemicals!!
Clancy I thought we agreed not to discuss the cost of nails shhhh 😉
Designer girlie who loves tjmaxx and target! All my designer goods were gifts through the years thankfully lol I hear you about the nail salon but also that’s self-care 😂 I’m there once a month I get my nails with tips and art and my feet and I can’t give it up! I’m proud of you though ~ also I’m a huge book girlie I make booktok content - I guess I’m out here spending $$ I love buying books can’t stop won’t stop lol
One thing I like to do is pay in cash as much as I can. Example going to target to get formula, some hair products, and some light groceries. I know how much cash I have, so it makes me less tempted to buy extra clothes me or my son don't need 😄. Also, actually paying with cash, you are more prone to be more mindful of how much money you are spending.
I always buy my books used-thrift stores, free little libraries (free!), eBay is great for used books!
I love Libby. Just learned how to use it. I'm a really slow reader. And it's gotten harder. I read with my left eye only. My eyes don't focus.
Packing work lunches saved me a ton.
We could be twins ❤. I am same when it comes to spending. It all adds up.
I refuse to spend money on seasonal decorations. The only exception is my Christmas tree which I never add anything new to.
Do you have a public good reads account?
yeah okay, you save 1500 thousands a year for not getting a coffee out but nespresso machines and nespresso pods and such are also not free ? so you're spending money anyways
My bf drinks bottled water, it annoys my Brita water drinking self lol
Oh my word! Believe this all so much…was gonna run by Starbucks just now 😂
You set me straight!! Home I go 🤪
😂😂😂
Have you ever thought about reading A Little Life? I heard so much about it I decided to give it a go! I’d love to know your thoughts ❤️❤️ im only on page 100 lol
