Rachel, as another curly girl: You don't have to chase your natural curl. It's okay to straighten it if you want! Curls are fun, but oh my GOD they're a lot of work. You can also buy towel turbans/turbie twists that are made out of cotton and are just as good as plopping, especially if you use one right out of the shower and then change it to a dry one about half an hour later; it speeds up drying time a LOT and keeps it off your neck while it's drying. (if you pile all your hair on top of your head and are careful not to twist it up in the tail of the towel, it accomplishes the same tension/gravity-free drying as plopping without the hassle of figuring out how to tie a tshirt in a way that doesn't feel like cosplaying a hammerhead shark.)
Absolutely. I’ve found that the curly girl method was a great starting point for me, but that I needed to figure out some customizations for me. . I almost never use a hair dryer because I have no patience for it. I often plop into a microfiber hair towel that makes into a turban, and wear that around the house a while. That helps SO much for cutting down on air-drying time. But it’s really not the end of the world to put it up in a damp braid, and for my hair, if it is damp when I braid it my hair will still come out of the braid curly. Putting it up when it’s dry, though, will stretch it out strait.
That's a great tip! Turns out I've been doing it wrong because I always twist my hair into the tail a little, haha. I don't see what's wrong with cosplaying a hammerhead shark either, though 😂
I gave up on plopping or wrapping my hair cause I’m quite lazy but I found that if I keep scrunching the ends or shifting them when I sat down so I didn’t flatten them helped with air drying. There’s good curl days and the days your hair will just go nope.
I think it should be stated that you're not supposed to hold the diffuser on your head anyway, that concentrates heat in one place which isn't healthy. Plus it's tiring. As Manes by Mel suggests, you need to move the hair dryer constantly around your head. If that's still too much work, there are heated steam bonnets or microwaveable bonnets that can be worn. Sadly bc I have low porosity hair, I can't use cotton, it absorbs the water & moisturizing products that need to go into my hair. I rely on steam to open up my cuticles to deposit water in vapor form (vapor molecules are tinier than liquid molecules) and give my hair a chance to absorb the moisture it badly needs. If I don't, then my hair will frizz and stick up in an attempt to seek any humidity in the air. Personally, I've never been interested in the curly girl method. I used to despise my high-density 3C coarse brillo-head since I was a child. The amount of pain, tears, and frustration were soul-crushing. However now that I'm older, my hair has thinned & lost its curl pattern from excess chemical straightening for decades. I'm learning to love my natural hair and it turns out that most of the struggle was due to ignorance of my hair type & knowing proper treatment/products. Apparently what works for high porosity doesn't work for lo-po. What works for high density doesn't work for lo-den. One person's elasticity needs (stretched & lengthened) is different for another (shrinkage & tightly coiled). One person's demands for protein repair can't work for protein-sensitive hair types. Heavy oils and creams are necessary for coarse-textures, while being overkill & weighed down for finer-textures. One person's detangler is another person's styler. Some use LOC, some do LCO and some need a method of LLL (liquid, leave-in, lightweight serum) that avoids buildup. So do what's best for you and to each their own!
Rachel, there’s a hairdryer holder with a flexible arm that can clamp onto tabletops that you might want to look into. Or getting a bonnet attachment for your hair dryer. That’s also a possibility. Then you have hands-free hair drying.
My sister has really thick, curly hair, and she swears by just letting her hair air dry. She'll shower before bed and put her hair in a bun and leave it until the next night. But we live in a low humidity area. My hair is less thick, but I've found just leaning down and flipping my hair over lets my arms rest more while I'm blow drying.
I have curly hair, lots of it and it's usually very long (I just cut it short, it's now like 3 or 4 inches below my shoulder). I shower at night and let it air dry - I wrap it at first so it's not dripping and wait for 20+ mins before unwrapping. It does get pretty humid in the summer and it can take a long time to dry but I like the way my curls turn out. I can't blow dry my hair, it makes a frizzy mess.
@@Lucky_Dagger oh for sure, that's why I mentioned my location is low humidity. And it also sucks to let your hair air dry in the cold so a stand for a hair dryer or toweling off your hair are excellent suggestions.
@@j.wa.1061 That's when you take a long drive with all the windows down 😅 Jkjk, I've had to cut my hair short tho because of how ridiculously thick my hair is. Why must hair care be so difficult?
blueberries actually work well in groups of three or more when grown in pots. they talk to each other and can even intertwine! a lone bush does not produce as much. I am so stoked to see your finished house, even just glimpses, and for you to start your lives there with the furbabies!
0:08 ok you got me hooked Rachel & Jun the first youtubers I’ve ever seen apologize for having sponsorships. No worries because their explaining-things voices are so nice to listen to lol. Having space to store stuff away from sight is going to be the best thing about owning a house. 22:02 that’s really pretty
Aww. The cat stacking at the end was hilarious. Poki was a little indignant, but still put up with it. The other two didn't seem to pleased. If cats don't want to cuddle .. they don't want to cuddle. I can't make my cat do anything she doesn't want to. Lol. She's the boss.
Funny enough my two youngest cats will stack themselves sometimes when it's cold outside and they try to squeeze into small spaces. Most cats definitely are not like that.
My cats won't cuddle at all no matter how cold it is, they all Go and find somewhere warmer on their own like my wardrobe usually (cat hair gets all over my clothes I am actually at the point of buying a child lock as they can open the doors.) however jaffa is a bit... well stupid than the other 3 and will sleep in between my 2 fluffy dogs bc they are always warm. The dogs hate it and he will just stack himself on them xD.
I've seen people use vinyl sheets to cover their kitchen counters, etc. to change the look and color. They might work for the inside of your window frames as well, if you'd like them white. Those sheets are peel and stick, so you can remove them if needed. :)
@@klappstuhl4370 Yeah, that might be true. :') I'm not sure how durable it would be on the inside of a window frame. Foil might hold up better than paint on a plastic surface, that was my thought.
The paint option with some form of primer and top coat over to finish (matte or varnish depending on the rest of their design choices) would be best. The vinyl clings don't tend to hold up over time in high condensation areas (One of my grandkids tried using it on a planter box. In maximum heat and humidity conditions with broad temperature swings it started to bubble and pull off.)
For someone who doesn't wear makeup off camera you sure are good at it! Eyeshadow on fleek in this one. Also, as a fellow flea market kid thank you for making me feel a tiny bit less alone in the world knowing that someone else has experienced the disconnect between US borderline hoarding and Japanese tiny apartment living.
honestly with the sponsors that you guys have had, it seems like they are all things you actively use and enjoy rather than something that isn't related to you at all. esp with the bokksu sponsorship, you always find fun ways to include them like with jun trying to win the snacks in one of your recently videos.
I feel like it’s really hard to get in the mindset of not caring about your appearance when it comes to makeup, so that’s awesome you feel so confident in your own skin. (Not that there’s anything wrong with wearing makeup, but women shouldn’t be pressured to wear it.) The pandemic made me stop caring about makeup, so now I don’t put anything on. Frees up a lot of time in the morning.
That's funny, because I never bothered with make up, even tho all my friends started with it. Too much work and I didn't really care, now however I'm growing curious, and I want to see what I can do with it. Power to you tho, being able to touch one's face without worrying about smudging anything is pretty nice
@@Ghost_with_Bow Same with me. I have makeup from when I first cut my hair shorter, thinking I would look boyish and would need makeup to even it out, but my facial shape and features are very feminine (as is all of my body shape), and I quickly realized I had nothing to be concerned over. Then, I got a job last year where I was going to have to be on Zoom calls a lot and got more makeup...but my computer was very low-end and couldn't handle the long calls and frequently froze, so I left the job...leaving me with even more makeup. On a day to day basis, I really just like my natural face. It's not perfect and it has belemishes from acne, but I'd rather just accept my flaws, shrug, and keep it moving. I still smile in the mirror and I *know* I have the cutest dimples this side of the Mississippi ☺️. I've just never seen makeup as a daily essential. But since I now have all of this stuff, I'm going to try playing with more of it. I'm moving into a place of my own shortly and am considering getting a vanity so that I actually have a designated makeup spot, which might help with putting the stuff to use. But then when I run out, will I buy more? Maybe some things...but likely, no. Makeup means taking longer to get ready and getting up earlier and there is nothing in this world more important than maximizing my hours of sleep 😂
I don't wear make-up either. I don't see anything wrong with wearing it, but right up until I started theatre in high school, I didn't even know how to apply it. Now that I do, I'm lazy and would rather sleep another couple of mintues.
I worked in a cosmetics store for four years so I had no choice but to wear make up everyday. Before I worked there, I owned very little make up and had much more counter space lol. After I quit, I went back to only wearing it for special occasions or if I really want to. It's more fun when I don't have to do it all the time. And even more fun comes from not having to clean it off at the end of the day haha.
I hate wearing makeup, it's expensive and time consuming. But I still wish I had the kind of skills that other women have, in case I wanted to whack on some eyeliner for a little flair. Men aren't interested in me and I'm sure some of it is that I'm not sending whatever that "dolled up for a reason, please enquire" signal that other women are. Most of it is because I'm a crabby homebody, but it'd be nice to fool them for a few minutes.
Agree on the "what we eat in a day" idea. For me, they're fun not necessarily because of the food but because of Rachel & Jun themselves and their interaction with each other and the cats 😊 whole reason I watch and have subscribed to these channels :-) (Juns Kitchen definitely for the food too, of course 😁)
Talking about probably moving into the house next year, I first thought "that's so far away!" and then I had a double take and remembered it's already August...
If Jun does test runs for his main cooking channel, it would be nice if he posts some of those as lower production quality / live vlogs. It would be nice if we could see more of his idea and technique development.
Haha, the stacking was funny, Poki is so easy going but probably a bit heavy. I had a lot of cats that got along and wanted to be on me so they would end up stacking but the max is usually three and only partially before a bottomcat gets tired of the weight and gets out. Some just like to be on top. Very sleepy cats don't care as much as long as no one starts kneading like they are a pillow , Momcat is a unpopular lap buddy because of that. She likes to squish herself against the other cats and treat them like a pillow.
My cats lay on top of each other, sometimes, too. I never knew that was called stacking. It lasts for about 2 minutes. Then one starts grooming the other which turns into wrestling. Way fun to watch!
In America, we have storage facilities to keep our belongings forever even though we don't use them or look at them for months or years. I always feel better when I drop things off at salvage store.
God those things are nuts. Sometimes they end up abandoned, and there's a whole economy around buying/renting those abandoned ones, selling the stuff in them, etc. I can't imagine it Dx

Definitely interested in “what I eat in a day” videos! I like the slice of life aspect and enjoy seeing what sort of food products and dishes are more the norm in Japan. Plus sometimes it gives me more ideas on different things/ways I can eat :)
curly hair tip!! let curly hair dry naturally as often as possible, no heat products! a short blast of a hairdryer on the lowest heat setting, held very far away from your hair, is a good compromise. i start my hair drying process that way and finish with the cold setting. although rachael's hair is quite a bit longer than mine, it might be worth a shot?
I think the only issue with letting it dry naturally is that if you don't keep scrunching/blotting the bottom of the hair, the water will weigh down the hair enough to inhibit the curl. At least, with long hair. My hair is long, and my dryer died recently, so I do the scrunch/blot when it's very wet. Then, I gather the hair into a loose scrunchie or good-quality butterfly clip at the top of my head. This also helps get volume on the top, which is another problem with long hair -- and Rachel has said she has this issue. Through the day, I let the hair loose and section the top hair, putting it up while letting the bottom hair dry more. It does take a long time, though, if your hair is long and thick.
@@Historian212 I don't have curly hair, but I like watching the videos. How well does it work when you use those professional clips in the scalp to help the curls lift as they dry? I've seen some people use them and some not.
@@Historian212 oh yes, by naturally i meant air dry/cold dry, my bad! the scrunch is essential for keeping the curl. lately ive also been adding some hair spray while my hair is still a bit damp, too, and it helps a lot with keeping the ringlet shape even though my hair is starting to get longer
Yes! I would love to see more "What we eat in a day"s too! Honestly, I really just enjoy watching any of your videos no matter what you're doing or talking about, haha. Also, your sponsorships don't bother me at all, I'm just happy that you're getting that sponsorship money because you deserve it :D
when jun automatically smiled and rachel cutely asked what haku was doing 8:48 i go 🥺 then haku and nagi caught in a fight right in front of camera lol.. but obviously the cat stacking is the funniest, can’t believe poki would be so chill 😂
In Germany it changed owning a pet over the years. I think nowadays its also forbiten for a landlord to not allow you to own pets I think. So if you say as example you own a fishtank or a hamster or a budgie you can rent the place. Many people also own dogs or cats here
in france its the same, its forbiden to not allow pets in renting apart from category 4 dogs. Some landlord will still be picky about who they choose if they now before hand who has a pet or who hasnt but if you dont say anything and they rent to you they cant change their mind if they discover you had pets the whole time.
My sister was told multiple times by landlords to "just get rid of" her cats if she wanted to rent their apartments. And I myself actually lied and said that I only had one cat to get our current apartment... so it's not as easy in Germany either.
I would love to see more what you eat in a day videos! I love cooking, but I usually cook high effort dishes for friends and roommates, so meal prepping and planning is one of the most difficult things for me. Seeing how the people I look up to manage their time, ingredients, and improvise whatever you have in the fridge gives me inspiration and motivation
A suggestion for the cat stuff in your house, what about making them an outdoor space they could reach on their own? I remember you said you would go for walks in your garden with them but I wonder how well they will take to a harness (from my experience with cats lol)
We put them in harnesses to hang out on our balcony so I think they'll be fine! We might eventually want to make one so that Pichi can also get outside, but I want to see how our deck fares for a while with the insane number of spiders and other wildlife we have around there. We put up a tool shed earlier this year and within a single day three different species of spiders AND a whole family of geckos moved in, lol. There are some things out there (like mukade) that can be dangerous so I don't want to make something that'll just get quickly overrun by danger bugs and end up abandoned.
@@RachelandJunAdventures oh yikes, bugs…! I totally get that, it makes a lot of sense to first wait and see:) thank you for replying, I am always excited for your videos!!
Dear Rachel &Jun, I just want to let you know that "Cat stacking" is a Federal offence. You could face upto 3 nibbles and 6 scratches from the Cat overlords. All hail Poki sama.
I got really worried when Rachel only said THREE cats 7:46 , I was wondering what happened to poor Pichi 🥺 and then Jun finally mentioned her towards the end. can we have another Pichi update please 🙏
Would love to see more "eat in a day" vlogs. I find it super fun/cool to see how people from other parts of the world eat. Thanks to your channel, I always get to see something new and might want to try someday.
Rachel, have you looked into a dryer bonnet? you can use clips at your roots for volume (clip little bunches of hair so they they are set up from the scalp), scrunch your hair, and then put it in the dryer bonnet, which has a hole that your blow dryer fits into. then you edit a video, or relax for an hour while your hair dries hands-free! you can use any setting of the hair dryer, too!
As someone with curly hair I totally get where you're coming from with the struggle of getting all that hair to dry. Recently I tried a new trick I saw where instead of a t-shirt you use fishnets, it allows for more air circulation. It's working much faster for me, and if you can get fishnets at a dollar store you might want to try it out.
I have a new kitten that's so like Poki it's ridiculous. Glad to see the boys again, and I hope Pichi's doing well! That indignant meow of Poki's at the beginning made me laugh far too much. I do think Jun's opinion on how foreigners are treated are important too though! Of course Rachel's are important since she IS the foreigner but it's also I think the fact of seeing how people that are supposed to be "just like you" treat someone you love - and how you feel about that.
It's funny to me that windows don't come in white and are often not at least double because that's just your average window here in Germany. My windows on one side of the building have two window panes and some special noise canceling layer because there is a fairly busy road in front of it. You close the windows and you can only hear really loud stuff like a lawnmower or sirens. Can't even hear car alarms for the most part it's amazing.
As a mixed person with naturally curly hair, I often just towel dry it a bit, rub in some moisturizer and oils, then tightly braid it in two at each side. It does still take a while to dry, but you get beautiful crisp, curly waves afterwards! Try to leave it in the braids for at least 5 hours-12 hours... Cutest results!

@@mairimka8757 lmao fair! My hammerhead shark cosplay eventually ends up falling forward and knocking my glasses off hahaha
I like how Jun is so simple in his success. Cats, bed, and wife. That's it lol
Don't forget the garden! =]
Poki's small "what the heck" meow when he is suddenly swooshed up indicates even he has limits.
Rachel: talks about house, hair, relationship
Jun: plays with cats
God, love you guys!
@@j.wa.1061 humidity can make or break the option to air-dry. Kinda sucks on a summer night if the humidity doesn't break.

Or they can see about getting a paint that works on aluminum
That will make it all just a sticky mess over time, especially with temperatures going up, way up, in the coming years :c
@@klappstuhl4370 Yeah, that might be true. :')
I'm not sure how durable it would be on the inside of a window frame. Foil might hold up better than paint on a plastic surface, that was my thought.
I thought they said the inside frame would be plastic so they wouldn't have all that condensation. They could paint over it if it's plastic, right?

He's such a good boy!
It's a symbiotic relationship.
honestly with the sponsors that you guys have had, it seems like they are all things you actively use and enjoy rather than something that isn't related to you at all. esp with the bokksu sponsorship, you always find fun ways to include them like with jun trying to win the snacks in one of your recently videos.
I love how both of them are stunning but arent vain at all. So humble!!
I refer to Jun as The Humble Chef !

My husband overhearing about retaining walls:
"That's crazy. My siblings and I built the retaining walls at my mom's" 😂
When in doubt, overdo it.
But are his siblings stackable?
I think he did. Jun has 2 channels. Jun's Kitchen and simply Jun Yoshizuki for vlogs.
Jun's excitement at the cat stack was the hit of serotonin I needed today
@@NeoNovastar I used one once for a year because I couldn't find a decent 2 bedroom apartment for my stuff. I now own a home and have room for Christmas 🎄 and yard decorations.
@@CandycaneBeyond good for you! I really hope to own a house some day. Glad you only had to store your stuff temporarily rather than have it there forever
I could never justify paying to let your stuff SIT lol. I've been living minimalistic for 5-6 years now and while it's very convenient (especially for someone who moves every year) I kinda miss having stuff. Can't wait to buy a house and fill it haha.
it's amazing how calm Poki has become, over time. You guys did an amazing job with him. I had replied to the original post and asked about including Pichi. I can only assume that's a non-starter, huh?
I love how chill the cats are to being teased and even stacked
If you like raspberries, they are very easy to grow. They spread naturally, though, so plant them somewhere you can contain them a bit. :)
"What we eat in a day" type videos are great, a lot of people these days don't know how to keep themselves fed and don't eat until way past when they are hungry because they couldn't be bothered to manage it. More ideas and inspiration are always needed.
Poki is such a precious bean! When he was stretching his arms towards Rachel it was so adorable i can't even.
Rachel : Explaining stuff seriously
Jun : Smirks at camera while petting Nagi
I have actually really enjoyed some of your sponsored ads, especially the food box; it reminds me of when you would get snacks from fans in the mail
This might sound weird but I totally don't mind your sponsor content. It's clear you are very considerate about who you chose to sponsor which has resulted in being introduced to some really interesting companies!
I must say Rachel, in my opinion, your hair looks so much prettier like this. It looks natural and gorgeous 😍
YES!! PLEASE Jun upload more to your channel more.. I really miss the content there and I'm sure others do as well. That is how I found you guys here because I wondered where Jun's cooking channel went to. Also, would love to see more of what you eat in a day.. Not boring, it's great to get ideas and we love to see Jun cook :)
I personally wouldn't mind if you did even more sponsorships. I'd watch that for sure just to support the channel somehow.

Y’all don’t even worry about the sponsorships, it’s really nice to know that you’re getting support to build your home to way you want ! Get that bag girl
She has naturally straight hair. There is no letting it dry naturally.
I think she's following a particular hair care routine so her hair is more curly. I think her hair is naturally wavy.
Yes! I would love to see more "What we eat in a day"s too! Honestly, I really just enjoy watching any of your videos no matter what you're doing or talking about, haha.
Also, your sponsorships don't bother me at all, I'm just happy that you're getting that sponsorship money because you deserve it :D

I... am ashamed to admit I lol'd when Rachel said she wanted a lemon tree. That damn video lives in my head rent-free 😅
In Germany it changed owning a pet over the years. I think nowadays its also forbiten for a landlord to not allow you to own pets I think. So if you say as example you own a fishtank or a hamster or a budgie you can rent the place. Many people also own dogs or cats here
It's the exact opposite in the UK. You can't own any kind of pet when privately renting. Sometimes social housing let's you but that's rare too.
@@kitijaantonova6194 They don't even let the landlord decide? How did that happen?
in france its the same, its forbiden to not allow pets in renting apart from category 4 dogs.
8:48 HOLY PEPPERONI THAT'S A RARE HAKU MEOW. I'VE ONLY HEARD HIM MEOW ONCE BEFORE AND HE SOUNDS ABSOLUTELY ADORABLE!

Rachel's makeup comment is so relatable. If I didn't wear makeup one day, I would get tons of comments like, "you look tired," or "what's wrong?"
I think I’m terms of space, Rachel and Jun really utilize vertical space well. It helps that they are so tall that they can reach it all.

Would love to see more "eat in a day" vlogs. I find it super fun/cool to see how people from other parts of the world eat. Thanks to your channel, I always get to see something new and might want to try someday.
Yes, to see an American eat isn't enlightening to another American, but not to a Malaysian for example.
The Blonde Oreo stack w/ cookie&cream filling was a success!!
Rachel: talk talk talk talk
Jun: spaced out playing with cats.
This was fun! I love your Q&As
Rachel, have you looked into a dryer bonnet? you can use clips at your roots for volume (clip little bunches of hair so they they are set up from the scalp), scrunch your hair, and then put it in the dryer bonnet, which has a hole that your blow dryer fits into. then you edit a video, or relax for an hour while your hair dries hands-free! you can use any setting of the hair dryer, too!
For the garden, I’d suggest a (relatively) small greenhouse for plants that require specific temperatures/soil makeup
I would definitely love to see more What I Eat In A Day videos from you guys. When you have the time.

23:00 Omg Poki has the cutest soft meow, instead of the normal earth-shattering devil’s roar for food. 🥰
How many years have gone by? I still enjoy the sweetness and calmness you exude when you’re together.
I like these cat challenges! The toilet paper wall jump is one of my favorites :)

Aaah Jun's answer to "what do you need in life to feel successful?" 😭
Yes, more eat in a day vids! I get in a food rut sometimes and realistic food videos help give me ideas!!
Rachel, your hair looks AMAZING!!!!
Me wondering how quickly Pichi took off when the stackable attempts started.
