    Also Satan uses Fantasy or an imaginary person. For example, focusing on the physical aspects over connection and Godly relationship.

    #1 and #4 really affected my 20's and I fantasied A LOT about the perfect person and their perfect reactions to me. I had crippling FEAR that was overwhelming with a lot of shyness. A large part of my life I feared about not being perfect and exposing that I was broken. I feared the idea of being rejected. Also, I was controlled and abused as a kid (spiritual abuse so it was very "works based condemnation) so I didn't have healthy relationships with grown men/boys in general. In my late 20s/ early 30s I really worked on myself in counseling and "getting out there." in a healthy way. I met a lot of people and really grew in the Lord. I met men who weren't the right people for me - which is ok! (The Lord revealed that with his confirmation). By my late 30s Covid hit (and changed a lot of society being social) and now I'm in my early 40s at 42 years old. I feel bummed sometimes, since I want kids., but God is good and would still love to still be married. :) I have accepted my imperfections as well as others I pray that I meet someone great really soon! :)

      Dear sister that's exactly why i'm 35 and still single. I wanted simplicity but someone else wanted to complicate things all the time. Girls at my church are mostly like: He needs to be: Point 1. point 2. point 3. .... "10 or 15 points i want in my future husband." And also most of girls are very focused on appearance.. He needs to look like Brad Pitt.. It's so hard to find a woman that is mostly focused on your heart, on your relationship with the Lord...

    4 signs that might mean that Satan is using idolatry to keep you unmarried:
    1.- Satan is using idolatry to keep you single if you're completely avoiding the opposite sex because you care too much about what they think of you. (Out of fear). *Matthew 10:28
    2.- If you given up on ever meeting someone you could marry because you believe " the one got away." That's a sign you are unmarried because Satan is using idolatry.
    *Matthew 7:7
    3.- If you put too much pressure on people and this push them away. (Early on the relationship).
    * 1 Timothy 6:17
    4.- If you believe your person will be marked by stress free relationship connection with them.

    This is so strange. I was literally praying about how in the first two months of my following Christ, I began to idolize marriage. Ever since I’ve been scared to pray for a husband. And then this pops up this morning… none of the issues really rang out to me. I’m introverted, have social anxiety and trust issues with men, so I don’t tend to socialize much.
    And I want to engage in a biblical courtship, not the “Christian dating” trash.
    So that and the base necessities (Godly man, politics, dietary, etc.) and I think I might be waiting awhile. 😅

    On point #4, I think we need to reexamine how the church creates the narrative that if someone is for you, everything is supposed to fall in place, and that they would be super for you and into you... The church makes it seem like your person will be hassle free and everything will just fit.

    Hi Mark! Thank you so much for this video, it was super helpful. Any advice on how to guard your heart & mind from putting on the rose colored glasses so as not to live in this fairytale mindset & push them away? I’ve just met someone that approached me at church & I’m aware I can be this way in the beginning when things are new & exciting, but just need practical tips on how to prevent this other than just “ignore the thoughts” or “guard yourself” because a lot of the thoughts seem to be intrusive & appear as temptations & I feel like just telling someone to simply “guard themselves” is vague.

    • @G_Galore
      @G_Galore 3 месяца назад

      Not sure if Mark responded yet, but I would suggest after being approached by someone to pray to The Holy Spirit is this someone I should proceed with? & if yes take your time to observe their fruit❣️
      “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits...every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit (Gal 5:19), nor can a bad tree bear good fruit (Gal 5:22). Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Therefore by their fruits you will know them” -Matthew 7:15-20 NKJV
      Do you both bear good fruit: “But the fruit of the Spirit [the result of His presence within us] is love [unselfish concern for others], joy [inner], peace, patience [not the ability to wait, but how we act while waiting], kindness,goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such things there is no law” -Galatians 5:22-23 AMP
      A lot of times our fairytales and infatuations come from false assumptions of good fruit and/or physical attraction, but it takes time to really get to know someone & their fruit (good or bad). So remembering to slow down & asking Holy Spirit to reveal their fruit helps a lot. I hope this was helpful❣️

    I used to worry aboht what people thought of me. Sure i would love to be a father, and have a woman who loves me not just for looks, personality, etc. But for my faith and my love for the Lord. My main point is, if a woman isn't interested in me, or doesn't find me attractive and so forth, I just move on because I know God has someone out there for me who He wants me to be with.

    I don't care what women think. Once i figured out I was operating off old data I completely changed my attitude towards the twat I was into. Refusing to get a marriage license might be some type of idolatry also. But for me most Christian women I ignore because I don't care for a relationship right now. Maybe I will find someone maybe not. I'll definitely be looking outside the country though not inside.

    Hey Mark. Great take on an important aspect of life. In my case, I don’t avoid the opposite sex because I am afraid of rejection. This may sound weird, but I am actually not looking for a wife and don’t feel ready for a marriage commitment. I am actually just trying to build a happy life as a single man without having to depend on a woman for happiness. I am more afraid of getting in a relationship than getting rejected.

    • @ApplyGodsWordcomMarkBallenger
      @ApplyGodsWordcomMarkBallenger  3 месяца назад +13

      Yes, however, it's still a fear based motive. You don't need to avoid women to overcome your fears about women hurting you. You have to address the fears rather than abandoning the other good parts mixed in there. In other words, don't rely on a woman for happiness and seek contentment in Christ; but that doesn't have anything to do with pursuing a woman. You can be content in Christ and secure in him and pursue a woman. It's not one or the other. You may need to fast from dating for a few weeks or months, but eventually God wants you to pursue good things from good motives. If you want to be married, it's okay to pursue that with a healthy motive to glorify the Lord. This relates: applygodsword.com/4-signs-god-wants-you-to-overcome-a-relationship-idol-by-pursuing-a-relationship-with-pure-motives/

    Expect adversity, embrace adversity and realness between two people. The key, imo, to a successful relationship and marriage is to be equally yoked, and to equally love God more than each other, but to genuinely love each other. Prior to my re-conversion to Christianity, had little faith in marriage. Little desire to be a husband or a father. But, after becoming a new Man in this faith, I do want to marry and experience the joy and the trials and the love of children, as well. Whatever happens, is within God's will. But, I will absolutely do my part. Great vid, bro.

    I don’t believe in the concept of “the one”. I believe any God fearing man or woman can figure out a way to live with each other, given that they are aware of their roles in a relationship and respect them. Saying that everyone has a predestined partner can put a lot of stress on a person as they fear they’ll “miss the one” or they are afraid to talk to anyone romantically because they fear they’ll contradict Gods will and somehow Mary the wrong person. Go out and talk to people, you’ll never know if you don’t try.

Divorced him and remarried in less than a year. Another woman, college friend, her husband was the second man she slept with, proposed at graduation, had three kids. Divorced after the 3rd. When confused, it's always wise to come back to the basics of the Bible. Just obeying God in the day to day is the right place to start. Proverbs 3:5-6. Making the right choices will lead you the right destination eventually. It sounds like trying to stay with this man who doesn't love the Lord is not God's path from a biblical standpoint

    Of course there are also spiritual explanations. But many of us are also marked by childhood traumas that make us codependent (codependency makes you put people on a pedestal, depend on others for validation etc) or with an unhealthy attachment style.
    We all have a certain attachment style, for example the person with avoidant attachment style runs away from relationships, the person with fearful avoidant style would like a connection, but is afraid of rejection, failure, etc.
    The person with anxious style sticks to others like metal objects to magnets. Is not a fun place to be. But it can be changed.
    It is very important to know our attachment style, traumas and the language of love.
    God is the our healer, but psychology is also a kind of "ultrasound" that helps us see our shortcomings as people.
    Moreover, demons work through these traumas and attack us precisely through our weaknesses. "On top of my wounds they added wounds".
    Traumas are open doors through which evil forces enter and attack us.
    Codependency is a gate through which idolatry enters etc. Please read about codependency as well as attachment styles. If you want.
    Codependency is a serious problem and it greatly affects the relationship with God and with people.

    Maybe it's not idolatry, maybe it's the fact women idolize a specific type of man who doesn't exist, and there are guys who'll never commit in the first place yet they want those types of men. Can you make this make sense? Plus why bother talking about marriage? In the west divorce is at a 50% chance for first marriages. If you divorce, more than likely the man if he earns more pays alimony. And if child support is there all the more money. Most women here are just single older women wanting to find a marriage material man after hook-up culture. Enough of this information is around. Lets not forget the hidden infidelities that happen, even in CHRISTIAN marriages. Is this the life you want in this country?

  • @Charles-e4x
    @Charles-e4x 3 месяца назад

    To me a "perfect" relationship is something that includes all the stress and frustration. How are you supposed to love the other person like God loves you if you don't know their flaws? And vice versa. A big part (if not the biggest part) of marriage is helping each other grow in God and going above and beyond for each other. Even if you don't do either perfectly.
    All *good* love stories have some kind of conflict between the characters that makes the whole thing interesting and satisfying to experience for the audience. It'd be boring and unsatisfying if the guy and girl live happily ever after without watching them suffer a little first.
