The relief, the adrenaline, the pride, written all over the pilot's face and his body language after the landing. Lovely to see. A fine piece of model building.
The 'pilot' flew it and put it down beautifully and deserves all the adulation, and this on only 3 engines!
true. I just wish they'd taken props with the appropriate number of blades.
A lot of pilots during World War II there plane took many hits and had to land on only two engines
You don't need engines to land a plane.
@@mark-1234 ... But it helps!
@@jfrphoto01 - only if you want to abort the landing.
My stepfather was shot down over Austria in a B 17. The number happened to be 911. He was 23 years old on his 23rd mission. Soul survivor of his craft. His name was John Thomas Farrington Rest in peace Jack.
Thank you for his service, thank you for his story
Alan Cogan His plane had been hit by anti-aircraft artillery. They were explosion in the fuselage and the wings were on fire he had taken shrapnel in his left shoulder and his left arm was almost severed. Everyone was dead but the gunnery sergeant who was trying to stowaway the navigators parachute that opened up inside the plane. As the sergeant had unbuckled my stepfather the craft exploded. He did not know how his parachute opened and he was soul survivor. He was caught by the Austrian youth who knocked his front teeth out and sent to a German Field hospital. He became a POW. He was a sock boy and emptied the dirt into the gardens when they dug the tunnels that they portrayed in the movie the great escape.
Alan Cogan dude you realize how freaking rude you are
Amazing story
@Alan Cogan Really???
Hands down the best sounding and flying RC I’ve ever heard and seen. Ever. Just wow.
There's something about the sound of 4 props that is just beautiful. I was lucky enough to see one of the last real flying b17s at an air show in Pennsylvania years ago and it's just a amazing sound
ruclips.net/video/9rFVBrKj4Qw/видео.html
Looks like fun imagine shooting fireworks at it !
Even sounded real. I can imagine a few of the old folks got chills along their spines
Maybe they put speakers on the ground?
@@nstl440 no its because the used gas engines. electric engines are too small for a plane the large.
@@Panzerschreck716 i know they are gas engines. But those sound different then what you hear. So i think they added speakers. Or edited the video soundtrack
@@nstl440 did you see the video linked in the comment? the real b17 engines are lower pitch. the rc engines are higher pitch because of the size. plus why would the want to make it sound like the real thing? we all know we are hear for looks not sound. anyways your wasting my time
The skill, dedication and patience to create such a magnificent piece of flying art is beyond my comprehension. Magnificent!
When your model planes are so big they sound like real planes.
It sure did
not even half of one real b-17 engine combined.
that plane had 4 (2 cylinder) engine. I beleive the real one had 4, 18 (24?) cylinders radials..
I wonder if i mistaken a real b17 to a model hopefully it was the real one..
Sounds more real than the actual plane bruh
I just want to see someone sit on these models and fly around...
Love how serious and trying to look cool they all are at the beginning and then how completely and utterly relieved they are to get it back down in one piece!!
I'm not even into RC but the crowd's excitement is infectious!
To build an aircraft like this, takes a big lot of dedication and talent! Amazing work!
_Thank you for your kind comments. Much appreciated !_
and money and time also!
And a Lot of Patience, which is "the capacity to accept or tolerate delay, trouble, or suffering without getting angry or upset."
Very rare thing these days wizard.
and the moneyz..... wow
I live about 10 miles north of the EAA Museum in Oshkosh and get to see the actual "Aluminum Overcast" quite often when it flies over my house. This is a beautiful replica. Congratulations.
I lived in Appleton for 10 years and saw it flying back and forth to Outagamie County airport often. Also I go to Airventure every year.
WoW , that was brilliant , but my heart stopped when I saw one of the propellers stop , well done .👍✈
Guys This is my first time viewing several different aircraft In the RC show UK....All I can say is AWESOME!!! Man was I impressed. From the States here. My hats off to all the hard work you guys put into the show and planes! Thank you
Also this B17's first flight was awesome....can someone tell me where this took place?
+Ted Hernandez _Thank you for your kind comment, Ted_.
Your questions will be answered by reading the video description :)
_Best regards, RCSA_
Beautiful! Why would anyone give this video a thumbs down?
probs on the starboard cylinder not working put that only ups the realism for me
I’ve flown the real aluminum overcast and I have to say wow!!!! This is awesome. I want one! Great job
I must say she's Still flying.....
The last time I saw A.O. was about 12 yes. ago
My ( now late ) cousin, Mike Sienkiewicz, a retired Cook county forest preserve P O was with the overcast & crew at the Waukesha Wisc.airshow.
And Capt. Vern had flown the Overcast over my then Palatine, il. neighborhood whilst approaching then Palwaukee airport.
I was like a child standing near the threshold-waving & yelling
Like Mr Very. Could hear me!!!
And just after Christmas that an absolutely spectacular Mj. IX spit flaw that same heading & waggled
Twice.
So much for having friends in HIGH places.
With my finest,
Brian.
Ihre B-17 ist unglaublich! Vielen Dank, dass Sie dieses Video mit uns geteilt haben.
That sounds So fricking Real! It's an amazing build indeed.
Many thanks for your comploments !
I love the sound of those engines!
4 stroke single cylinder ;)
Although historically inaccurate, wouldn't mind hearing 4 moki radials in it :)
mytmouse57 never understand why when the motive is accurate scale replication of the original why nobody makes an accurate scale three bladed screw? - ok you can't tell in flight but as with all models the devil is in the detail
They sound real
mytmouse57 ther germans sure didn't
Damn , the sound of this rc plane is really amazing
Syarif Fadilah I actually got to fly on the real one owned by EAA and there was a guy flying with us that was in the 8th Army Air Corp in England during WW II and he said sometimes at night he still hears those damn engines. My Uncle Bill was in the 8th and was the bombardier on a B-17, I got to sit in his seat and look through the Norden bombsight, too but he never talked about it. Watch the movie Fortress. Great movie.
@@sog6841 I'm really hoping I get to fly on it for my birthday
I'm quite speechless, tears, my dad was a B-17 navigator...enough said!
_Thank you for watching and commenting, Tom. Much appreciated !!!_ 👍😎
@@RCScaleAirplanes Dad had 29 missions, flew right up to the day Germany surrendered, he was pissed because their crew wanted to come home with 30 missions! He was 22 at the time...Hell-of-a-guy!
@@ltdees2362 He is lucky, because allot of them did not make it home on one mission. Hats off to you’re Dad. Brass balls is what it took to climb into them things and go into enemy territory. Very cool. Four engines. Retractable gear. Flys on three engines. This is a big literally, accomplishment. Also note they are flying in Austria. Austrians do speak German.
Well done. Magnificent skill and craftsmanship.
That Is The Biggest RC Plane I Have Ever Seen! And The Real Beautiful Thing About It Is, It Sounds Realistic! Great Model Guys!
That silver shine with the sky and the engine sound.. so beautiful!! what an amazing work and moment!! Beers included! Congrats!!

Was expecting the engines to sound like week wackers like so many of these large models, but was pleasently surprised. Helluva nice job on this airplane!
They must be day whackers...lol
Hankorama Month wackers
@@bderrick4944 Year wackers
made me smile when it lifted off!
the constructors of these big planes are amazing!
That was fabulous ! Thank goodness for old men with a lot of time, money and dedication to building such a model !
I have too many questions, about power lines overhead, safety in starting the engines, flying and maybe crashing it after what must have been many many hours of work and a lot of money. It is a magnificent example of craftsmanship, a true work of art rivaling any of the great masters. Thank you so much for sharing.
Thank you for your compliments, which I really appreciate. I'm very pleased to know, that you liked watching the video.
*_some answers:_* due to the huge camera zoom in, the powerlines looking much closer than they are. In addition, they are about 100 meters behind the flight zone. What kind of engine start would you keep right for? How would you start the engines? From behind? This is rather improbable at these large wings.
Peda is neither rich nor pensioners. He has a normal job and devotes his free time to build and fly Rc airplanes.
_Regards, RCSA_
RCScaleAirplanes if you had a driveshaft type thing that came back further on the wing and then pointed up or down that you could put the starter in to that'd be feasible, I know an onboard electric starter would be too much weight. maybe something like those explosive canister starters that they use on the older C130s that look like shotgun shells might work. Sad that your #3 engine cut off like that, had a feeling it would when it puffed smoke, any clue what happened? I'm amazed that you could get away with using twin blade propellers instead of the 4 blades the real ones had, but then that thing isn't carrying around a huge load of bombs either.
2:11 and 3:50, take off and landing. As I hear those people cheering I am close to cry. Emotions.
Johan Retsler _Thank you for your kind comments, Johan._
After more than two years of construction, it was an extraordinary event for all of us to see this great model doing a successful maiden.
_Thanks again for watching and commenting. Much appreciated !_
That plane represents loads of dedication and hard work. An excellent job indeed.
Right inboard engine quit. Uneventful landing. HEROIC! All love to the pilot and crew!
_Thank you for your kind words, Erick. I remember that day ... it really was amazing._
That is what it feels like when $25,000 USD land safely LOL...
I always wondered what they costed.
@@tonyfrancesco3701 It's a good estimate of the cost give or take.
Yep lol
About as much as a used cesna or Bonanza. That's insane.

I had the opportunity to ride in the Aluminum Overcast a few years back here in Colorado at Centennial Airport. What an amazing experience! To see this model of it is an incredible sight. Well done!
I understand why the crowd applauded!she is an amazing sounding ,looking ,detailed bird thanks for sharing
... and because of a successful maiden 😉
_Thank you for your kind comment, which I really appreciate !_
Could imagine the elderly in Germany seeing that plane going "OH FUCK, NOT AGAIN!"
Lmao xddddddddd made my day thx! Btw isnt it strange that it has only 2 blades? It normaly had 3...?
+LegitSwag The first versions originally also had only 2blade props
+jesse ruby As long its a single one.. and they do not appear hundreds in formation...
+LegitSwag
Because the power/weight doesn't always scale with the plane, there many times is too much thrust from the props, and goin down in blades, pitch and diameter is how to tune that.
Or, it's cuz 3 and 4 blade props are a good bit more money.
Kinsey Benedict understand...
Make it drop water balloons on the crowd.
MARZ1911 What about stink bomb.😆
Even though it's a small version compared to the actual plane, they should use these for tear gas and other gas training for soldiers and cops. Mostly military due to the fact that it's a military plane and it's best for dropping bombs, or in my case, gases.
Yeah just crush everyone’s vertebrate. great idea 👍
Sie sind ein Militarist!
A model that big can drop a, 3 to 5 kiloton suitcase nuke that will level three or four neighbourhoods and irradiate an entire city. 8 kilograms of uranium 235 with five kilograms being the target disks and three being the projectiles launched with just a few sticks of TNT and you have a very destructive weapon. It is comically easy to make a small gun-type, atomic bomb.
I was stationed at Ramstein Air Base, Germany, 1983-1986...........the guys all having German beers at the video really brought back some memories. Great video and thank u for uploading it!!
Great achievement, love the way all the guys came together to help with, watch and celebrate the first flight. Deep down inside everyman is a small boy. Well done
Let's face it guys, none of us ever grow up......
beautiful stuff.

motors do sound real!
What a good realistic sound
Nah, check out the Moki powered planes. Those and Kolm engines are as real as it gets.

No even close to a real one.
Well deserved encouragement. Again these clubs are full of true engineers amazing. One engine out too. Top video
Thank you for your kind comment. Much appreciated !!!
Just like the real one, lost an engine and still landed safely. Beautiful plane!
This is the coolest thing to see and also the nerdiest at the same time.
There is nothing wrong with being a nerd
Why do you find this nerdy? Just curious.
Nerds gave you the technology that made it possible for you to type this comment, dumbass.
Einstein would be considered a nerd by today's definition. .. A lot of achievers are called nerds by those, who are non-achievers or simply envy them. With such an achievement, I would not mind.
Just beautiful workmanship and flying skills! Bravo!
So many of our brave heroes went down in this plane, which is one of the coolest we've built in my opinion.
Das Modell und der Pilot gehören für mich zur absoluten Elite 👍👍👍👍
Excellent engineering I hope you a very proud of this unique build, it was amazing to see it flying fantastic achievement. Thanks.

The amount of work and effort that went into that plane is marvellous, very well done.
_Thank you for your kind words !_ 👍😉
Beautiful ! The work and craftsmanship that went into building such a gorgeous plane was over the top. Well Done! Excellent piloting. And that landing ... Bravo!
One engine failed, but kept flying... SUCCESS!!!
Simply, Amazing!!
Many thanks for your great comment !
The B-17 has the capability of returning home from a mission with 1 engine, but still mighty impressive
MC.builder johnpappas98 You mean one engine each side, otherwise it's not possible to keep the bomber in the air.
RCScaleAirplanes Actually, many B-17's have returned home with ONE engine and the other 3 failed, or destroyed. With the power each engine puts out, yes it is possible, because it has been done many times.
dragnridr05 The model appears to be scale, but it isn't. Many times RC airplanes do not have the same characteristics as real planes.. usually they have more thrust.
But he is referring to the fact that he probably can't independently control the engines with the transmitter. If you have one go out, your plane is flying crooked and nothing you can do until it lands.
WOW That is a beautiful plane, GREAT JOB!!!!
Gorgeous, gorgeous plane. The Flying Fortress is one of my all-time favorites, and it's a thrill to see such a huge model in the air flying! Only thing better would be to see a full-scale one up close!
Wow, what sound, what a joy to watch...great job guys!!!
*_thanks_* 👍😎
It's amazing how the sound has a scaled-down authenticity. Well done, folks.
It's the sound that finalizes it.
absolutely fantastic just watching the video make you admire the people involved in the construction. The adrenaline on landing must be incredible :) Thank you
This is awesome, brought tears to my eyes my grandfather was a gunner on one of these, it went down about half of the crew survived and were captured, i often think if he hadn’t been captured he may have perished somewhere else and i may not be here.
I really enjoy the opportunity to use the term, awesome.
All you need for this bird now is a leggy blonde painted on the side with a name like "Memphis Belle" or "Marry Alice".
Or Hitler's Face. 😀
Brian Griffin ... Aluminum Overcast is the real, flying B-17 that this scale model is a tribute to. I had the good fortune to walk around the full size version a few years ago when it was in town and I had the time off work.
:urinary incontinence management. Methods detailed

"Memphis Belle" suits this one best, as it came home with 3 engines running

Parabéns! Fantástico e emocionante vôo e aterrissagem! O barulho dos motores, estavam perfeitos.
oh man, those power lines, that was a pretty high bank turn at a slow speed ....I was afraid she would stall....good landing.
due to the zoom of the camera, the power lines looking much closer than they are. ant they are behind the flying zone.

my father was a radioman on a B-29 ,great job it was great to watch it fly ...
That thing is beautiful that was my late father's most favorite plane every year going up to the sierras we would pass a B17 flying fortress of the 99 highway , great memories of him thank you for sharing
Now we are talking airplane , I thankfully got to help build the starboard flap on the Memphis Belle. My heart goes out to all the men who flew in B 17 squadrons during World War 2 only one third were expected to survive each mission out of 25. Memphis Belle was the first to complete 25 missions.

Sehr faszinierend und so real !!
Not the first B-17 to land without all engines and much more. Good job all around.
Amazing a beautiful recreation .. and a perfect landing fantastic!!! 👍😎
The full scale bombers sometimes came in with half the tail disintegrated, missing 1/3 the fuselage, two engines completely destroyed, one on fire and one running poorly, holes in the wings, and a pilot more dead than alive.
The engine that failure seemed rather appropriate with the punishment the full scale models took.
Very likely a fuel-flow problem. Might have been insufficient fuel-pump pressure (just a guess).

Am I the only one thinking if I can fit a small child into there?
no, you're not alone with this idea :)
I am thinking about the same thing too. Great planes. I just feel like climbing on top of them myself, lol.
I love it.
Not only fitting a small child in there, but I'm also thinking that there's enough power to fly with the weight of the child in there with the one engine having failed as it did in this video.
Anyone want to try flying that on three engines with a fourty pound load, representing the weight of a child, mounted in it?
fuck that, let me fit myself into it
