This is such a great video @ArshGoyal! I cracked GSoC this year as well (first year too xD). Although my project is more with C++, this summed up the same type of experience that I had too. In fact, I also made my first commit nearing the end of January and still made it into my organization.
@@Anshul-uz6qu I mainly started during my first semester where I learnt C++. I did it from a book called Beginning C++ 17. I got on the IRC of haiku after installing it on my laptop and was active on their chat for quite a while. I did a few other things like sent an introduction mail on their mailing lists,etc. asking for beginner tasks. That's pretty much how I started :)

I want to request something. Everyone talks about the engineering degree and how to get into faang, if someone from non btech background wants to get into these companies and they have the skill set what do the need to do.... If you could please make a video on career transition from basic sciences to some roles like data scientist or researcher, it would be really beneficial for us.
