I knew of Fr Dan Horan long before I found this channel. Although I had left the Catholic Church and was a nonbeliever, I listened to his talks and found myself agreeing with a lot of what he said...minus the God thing. In hindsight, I think he got me (very gradually) on the road to questioning atheism. Still atheist at that time , I looked for more Franciscans online and found this channel. I wanted to prove how wrong Br Casey was about believing in God and how he was wasting his life wearing a silly brown robe. But watching Fr Dan and the Br Casey at the same time was too powerful...so instead they both helped me work to regain my Faith .They are partially responsible for getting me on the road to an eternal life in heaven , rather than the dead end road I was on to absolutely nothing.
It's very distressing to see that so many people (esp. young people) are slowly embracing a nihilistic view of life and the world. It's like everyone is becoming satisfied with being comfortably numb... Well I for one am done being numb!
I'm happy for you, and I hope you will continue to regain your faith. If it's not too much, if you have a minute to spare, I hope you don't mind watching this video, I hope this too can contribute in regaining your faith even in the least possible way... ruclips.net/video/DJqL8ZoAo0w/видео.html
What a delight. I am enjoying this channel and am sharing it with friends. I did not expect to see a Francisican Friar I have met. Fr. Dan Horan is a wonderful Franciscan. God bless him. Thank you for this channel.
Father Dan, You are a blessing to to so many. The Franciscan way of following Jesus just makes sense in it’s authenticity. Bless you brothers and sisters. ❤🙏🏼
I'm reading a book of his. It's nice, it's really helping me get to know saint Francis. He is incredibly humble for someone in his position. Thanks for the video!
Love this channel. I'm not Catholic but really enjoying the videos and working my way through, seems I'm 6 years behind everyone else. Very interesting and inspiring 👍
I think most Franciscans dont wear their Habit is because of the Majority of Americans still are protestants and most of the franciscans wanted to go incognito and tackle them discreetly
Some friars wear rings to remind themselves, just in marriage, that they have made a formal commitment that cannot be broken. It is not exactly like marriage, but similar.
I think that's pretty awesome, thanks for the info. Br. Casey. I wish someday I will have the courage to make a commitment to god to serve others. I have a deep admiration and respects for the priests and especially the Friars (living simple life and serving god by serving the poor).
I'm suspicious of consecrated people who left their habits to return to secular ones.. I don't know why but makes me think a lot about their commitment to religious discipline and obedience to the Church.. So often religious people in secular clothing have proved to be non orthodox people, maverick characters, too much focused on themselves and their 'opinions'.. and very soon they became troublemakers for the Church.. creating division and advocating for themselves and 'their way of thinking'. Maybe I'm wrong.. I don't know this friar.. and I don't want to judge him for how he looks.
I very much appreciate fr dan’s work as a Franciscan but Franciscans have fallen into this trap of supposedly melting into secular life in a light, careful manner such as to make everyone feel good about Christ/god. It’s like a mr Walters happy time with good. Smooth and soft tones spoken. Smiles all around. Everyone is so happy to death.
This simply had to do with the way and order this video was filmed. I'm sure if you caught him after mass or around the parish, not when he was running, he would be wearing the habit. But also wearing the habit is not always required in Franciscan life for different reasons. I doubt he did not say father because he is ashamed of his ministry, as if that were the case that would be a problem. However religious are not required to always refer to themselves as father, and have the option to be informal with those whom they are friendly with.
@JN I agree. Tradition, say the Post-Modernist, is relative. But the point of the Church, I thought, was Universal. Tradition is important, if not essential, in an age of superficial and rapid change. Even Islamic Arab scholars of Arabia, despite globalism, keep the the shemagh (the Abrahamic head dress), for it adds dignity, and respect to their vocation.

Thank you for wearing a habit brother! When you wear a habit you remind us of God. You are the witness for Christ!
Will you do one on the fransican sisters ?
Great question.
I think most Franciscans dont wear their Habit is because of the Majority of Americans still are protestants and most of the franciscans wanted to go incognito and tackle them discreetly
This individual needs prayer
Both Fr Horan and Fr Casey do.
Repent and believe in the gospel.
Why does the Friar wear a ring in their wedding finger?
Some friars wear rings to remind themselves, just in marriage, that they have made a formal commitment that cannot be broken. It is not exactly like marriage, but similar.

It should be an outward sign so that others do not hit on you.
Maybe it's to keep Cardinal Mccarrick away from them?

Love that you said not to judge according to appearance. What did you like about what he said?

He is a Priest. Why did he introduce himself without the title Father and without habit? Our Lord is not pleased.
Sean Casie Chitty I'm a bit confused. Are you saying that God is not pleased because he doesn't use a title or wear distinctive clothing?
Clothes do not make the man. (Though the white garment of baptism is all important!)

@R. V. some are priests, ALL are brothers. His primary call is to the brotherhood.
I love Fr. Dan Horan!! Was blessed to see him at the recent LA Congress after an incredible Liturgy! You rock!
Is he afraid to look like a priest? trying to hide something?
Why do you say that? And what does a priest look like, exactly?
Breaking In The Habit I believe he is refering to the lack of habit or clericals.

What about the faith he shared--the wedding garment of readiness to share in the King's feast?
Nice suit for a fair
I'm not sure what you're talking about. He's wearing a jacket, not a suit, and my guess is that it is an extremely cheap one.
@@BreakingInTheHabit his getup looks sweet at 3.48 though!
