Thanks a million!!!!! for clarifying this I was so confused talked with my teachers and tutors nothing seemed to make sense I felt so close to giving up on this but then I seen your vid and it just made total sense! Thank you!!!! keep It up!!! you help a lot
My teacher had an hour to explain this, and failed to explain it well. You've taken a mere 15 minutes of my time and taught it to such an extent that even I could reteach it.
you fell out of heaven right towards me. Thanks a million, i didn't get it in class nor in the math book, but i got it watching your video. THANKSSSSS!!!!!
Great ... I've never paid attention to terminology but now I know it's very necessary. Your video helped me a lot. Now I won't be lost when my upper math teachers mention the words integers and rational. Thanks a lot dude.
THANK YOU!!!!! YOU ROCK!!! Your video was so simple to follow, clear, coherent and illustrative. You took the time to provide examples and depicting it in a diagram/hierarchy was perfect! Excellent job! (PS: check the spellin of circumference - slight typo there)
This was outstanding! I was able to help my freshman son after we watched this together and took notes. HE GOT IT (despite the language disability)! Your voice was clear, and you spoke slowly enough for him to follow. Thanks!!!
+Honestly Spoken I am so glad to heat it! I do have over 180 posted so far many of which a freshman in high school can use. You might want to subscribe to my channel so you can find it quickly in the future.
I completely have a better understanding.... THANK YOU!! I have an exam tomorrow and I'm no longer worried about it because of my research online .... i google each area and got more out of my few hrs online than the weeks im spending in this damn class....
Okay, I love this guy. Every time I'll ask, "Well what about...?" he'd cut me off and give me just the answer I was looking for. Like it or not you're getting thumbs up and subscribed! Lol
WOW WOW WOW!! This totally helped me out. I have been unclear with this thoughout all my years in school and throughout college. Somehow I got by without being too sure on this subject. Now at 22 years old I finally understand it. Thanks :).
Is there anything you could multiply or divide an irrational number by to make it rational that you could also multiply or divide by an already rational number without making it irrational?
+UHFStation1 wow, what a great question! Sometimes an irrational number times an irrational number is rational. I'll use sqrt(2) to mean the square root of 2. Example: sqrt(6) times sqrt(6) = sqrt(36) = 6, a rational number! On the other hand sqrt(2) times sqrt(3) = sqrt(6) so sometimes an irrational times an irrational is rational and sometimes not. How about a rational times an irrational?
+MrCaryMath The reason I ask is I like nice numbers. Something that is completely usable later on. I took an equilateral triangle with sides equal to 5 for example. And determined its height to be SqRT 18.75, which is not rational. I'd like to have the sides, and all heights to be rational number if it is possible. Basically scale it up or down as needed.
Interested! Unfortunately scaling won't work to get us sides and a height of an equilateral triangle that both rational. Try this...say we have an equilateral triangle with side length 2x. The height would cut the base into two pieces each of length x. Now to find the height use the Pythagorean theorem: x^2 + h^2 = (2x)^2. Solving this equation for h gives h = x times the square root of 3. So if the side length is rational, the height will always be irrational!
I hear you, but keep in mind that the ancient Egyptians and Greeks didn't think that negative numbers were valid or even existed! Part of the beauty of math is that the diagonal of a square with a side length that is a rational number is not rational!
Thank you very much for posting this I wasnt paying attention in class so I couldn't do my hw because I didn't understand this. Until I stumbled upon this.
Awesome and thorough video. I just taught my students the real number system and I am confident that it will help those that are still struggling with it.
Thanks This helps so much because my second week of 7th grade we had sets but i didn't understand on how to get the integer thing but when i found this it really help me a lot
I find that most Math teachers are left brained and teach to left brainers. I'm a very visual learner, so that doesn't work too well for me. Your presentation gave my right brain what it needs to get the info over to the left side. Thank you!!!
youtube doesnt know more than your teacher... it just happens so that u loose attention in class and in here ur paying full attention.... thats all! well teached , i was distracted in class also!
I like it when a teacher explains the topic in a clear way.
I started college after 30 years last attended and all i have to say is, thank you so much. your my hero!
+John Cozad wow, that's a nice comment!
Thanks a million!!!!! for clarifying this I was so confused talked with my teachers and tutors nothing seemed to make sense I felt so close to giving up on this but then I seen your vid and it just made total sense! Thank you!!!! keep It up!!! you help a lot
May God bless you for this video. This was explained in a easy and thorough way. Thank you so much!
I wish you were my teacher!! You teach math clearly :)
My teacher had an hour to explain this, and failed to explain it well. You've taken a mere 15 minutes of my time and taught it to such an extent that even I could reteach it.
Thank you very much, my daughter loooooooved this article, helped her a lot
My math teacher showed me this. THANK YOU SO MUCH.
Very well set out in an easy listening voice. A big thanks and subbed.
you fell out of heaven right towards me. Thanks a million, i didn't get it in class nor in the math book, but i got it watching your video. THANKSSSSS!!!!!
You simplified a topic that I once found confusing. Thank you!
Thank you so much! You made this make a lot more sense to me!

thank you for clarifying the number system and what goes where. Thank you
Omg ~ I was lost until I saw this video. I can now go to class and take my quiz with confidence. You are A GENIUS!
I completely have a better understanding.... THANK YOU!! I have an exam tomorrow and I'm no longer worried about it because of my research online .... i google each area and got more out of my few hrs online than the weeks im spending in this damn class....
You did a nice job explaining this! Thanks!
OHHH MYYY GOSH...Thank you for going over this material so thoroughly! I took notes and everything! lol

Great video, very easy to understand.
Thank you so much! I am 29 and going back to school, and I forgot all of this stuff! Isn't it crazy how that happens?
Here are the shorthand notation symbols that represent each set.
Natural: ℕ
Whole: 𝕎
Integers: ℤ
Rational: ℚ
Irrational: ℙ
Real: ℝ
WOW WOW WOW!! This totally helped me out. I have been unclear with this thoughout all my years in school and throughout college. Somehow I got by without being too sure on this subject. Now at 22 years old I finally understand it. Thanks :).
thank you............God help you to keep on posting good word
Thank you for the help!!!
This was well explained Thank you!!!!
This is very simple and informative explanations for those concepts. Thanks a mil. Looking forward to more math videos.
Great! Thanks

Thank u! Totally just made more sense then my book!
You are very good at explaining things.
Thanks for this!
Thank you for helping me, i was behind a week and had homework i didnt understand until now thumbs up!

+MrCaryMath Poo. I hope we discover a way to better understand irrationals someday. They seem silly. Silly!, Silly, Silly!
I hear you, but keep in mind that the ancient Egyptians and Greeks didn't think that negative numbers were valid or even existed! Part of the beauty of math is that the diagonal of a square with a side length that is a rational number is not rational!

Thank you so much. This helped a lot!
How to plot irrational numbers on a number line
Thanks.
Precise and clear, Great job.

Thank you! Way better than what my teacher could teach. also with one of the numbers you said 27 over 8 but it was written 29 over 8. :P
your the best
This tutorial was so helpful, I had no clue as to what I was doing before this. Thanks Mr.Cary
You also said 27 over 8 instead of 29. Lol! But you're still awesome.
