Heschel's book about the prophets changed much my outlook about them, the prophets, but also about God and our church, and the meaning of Israel, the other name the Bible gives to Jacob: He who fought with God. Just imagine such thing. I tell my students, even in the seminary for catholic priests formation, that they have to read Heschel. One of them thanked me. He told me reading Heschel is an experience that never leaves you, and you return to his thoughts sooner or later. A great mind, but also, if I am not wrong from my goi experience, a great Mensch.
