fantastic video! only suggestion is to lower the music volume during speaking portions, the voices were way quieter in comparison. great filming and b roll otherwise though :)
I can't agree more, I TOTALLY messed up on this but I got it down on the second episode, follow up with me on the next one and tell me if a I got it right
@@TheMajimeChronicles It's not just that, the audio is also left biased, so it sounds weird. It's like someone is trying to interrupt a conversation you're already having. Often happens when editing on earbuds rather than over ear headphones.
@@TheMajimeChronicles Thank Max. You are too kind. I and would realy enjoy that too. I want to do a trip to the US, but not sure if that will be next year or the year after.
The amount of confidence to think you could make such a specialized knife on the first try is observed. That being said, you made a wonderful working art piece and the chef happy
Very few things are more inspiring than a master at his craft making something for a master at her craft. Bravo. Loving the new venture into the vblog side of things.
You randomly came up on my recommendation. Wonderful content. I love the story behind the chefs and their family. I look forward to you making all the different types of knives chefs use. I had no idea this had a specific blade.
Well done sir! As a smith myself it is awesome to see you challenge yourself and not go for the norm of knife making! I look forward to seeing your other projects in the future!

This video genuinely made me thing that you have been making videos for a long time already on this channel. I am pleasantly surprised that you have essentially barely started it! You my good sir have earned yourself a genuine fan of you videos and a new subscriber. I can't wait to see how this channel will grow and how you will grow with it, and I wish you the best of luck in your channel's journey!!!!
I wish you spent more time on the build and more time with the chef at the end testing and giving their feedback. As a fellow knife maker there is more you can of the process 😊. Great video great work
Saw the 2nd video first but don't think the order really matters here. This is way better than the classic knife making vids because you start from a chef doing certain things and then try to improve on that. Hoping for many more of these.
From seeing your latest videos first, and now this. I can realy tell that your editing skills have improved, and liwered the music during speek, as one sugested.
I love this little bit of insight into your process, but I feel like I'm still left wanting more! Would love to see more explanation around your tools and methods, why you grind the handles certain ways, what reasoning you have behind different the shapes, geometries, and materials, etc. That said, this is an amazing first episode and I'm stoked for more to come!
Thank you Owen! so when I did a private viewing that was the most common thing of feedback. Next episode I can of self in more and more on specifics without being too vague. Keep the feedback coming this really helps brother
I agree completely. I loved the video, but I'd like to see more production details and conversation about the technical choices made. I have one of your knives, and I use it all the time. I can't wait to see more of your work!
This is crazy the quality of production and editing along with the story line is amazing for a first ever episode, I’d love to see more 15min even 20min would fly with how great you’ve done. Amazing work
to be honest, this is the first time ive ever made a long video, so I actually didn't know how long the episodes should be as im new to RUclips! Totally love your feedback, thank you
@@TheMajimeChronicles Heya, just recently stumbled across your channel and really like your style of editing, chapters and all. You've now reduced the video down to the very core (in my opinion) and 9 minutes. Just know this: We (the people loving this kind of content) would love a little more in depth vids, and would always easily watch 20-30 minute episodes on the regular. Tip: Throw in a super detailed "full build" vid in every now and then, that's about an hour long. Pro tip: List your videos in the category 'educational', the RUclips algorythm will recommend your vids more often to others. Good luck on your journey, I'll tag along 🙂
@@TheMajimeChronicles I watched many knives making channel and videos, and I think you can make your video at least 15 to 30 minutes, so it would not bored casual watcher, but I personally could watch hours long video of knife making. And you can put a little more detail in the process it doesn't need to have any voice over for everything but just the process of making it in itself is really interesting for me. But overall for the first episode it is quite good, not perfect but good. So just keep up and you sure would have one regular viewer in me 👍
Great video! Been looking forward to it and it definitely delivered! Can’t wait for future episodes. As a knife maker myself I love seeing other people’s approach to different steps in the process. Always a good learning opportunity.
great videos! A small suggestions, if you mix your VO and music and lower volumes you can get a much better understanding of their balance. You might be either doing this on headphones or a speaker set up without a good stereo image in an untreated room. Good luck! looking forward to more vids :)
You’re knives are absolutely magnificent. But I do wonder with the unique handle design whether long use would eventually create hand fatigue. Have you tested the handle designs for commercial use? Honestly curious because it looks beautiful so I’d hope it would feel comfortable.
Going to be following this series closely! Love the content and idea, videography isnt bad either. One Tip in some sections the music and background volume were louder than the speech volume making it hard to hear what was being said.
I really am by your videos and just became a subscriber. I have been collecting pocket knives for some reason for my entire life. I just got back from Japan where I was able to get a really cool little pocket knife at a wonderful knife store. If you ever decide you're going to make a really cool folding pocket knife, let me know because I would love to buy one from you. I would hope to be able to support what you do because I think that you are an excellent craftsman and I am enjoying watching your skills as a video creator. I work as a producer and editor and musician for TV and film and actually a few RUclips channels, and I really enjoy what you do. Thanks
Please inset/inlay the decorative pieces into the sheath. I love that you add that piece, but if it's just glued on, it's just something to get knocked off.
Gorgeous knife and video, is it just me or is the volume noticeably louder in the left ear only. I switched to another pair of headphones to check and on both pairs of headphones/earbuds the volume is louder on the left. Audio balance issues?
no you're absolutely right! so because im a total noob I had no idea how to equalize volume in editing. such a miss on that, but I finally worked that out on the second episode coming up soon
I have a question, you look like an amazing knife maker with all the tools and experience. How come you tossed the first blade ? Can’t you straighten a warp? Now let me just add, that it was an amazing video well cut together but yes like others said, more depths to the process!! Anyways thanks for taking your time to give us this🎉❤
Alright so great question, yes I could have gone through the cycle of annealing and doing it all over again. And the chance of it warping could have potentially been fixed. So after the second successful attempt I actually figured out that the reason why I had the first warp was because I turned the blade and clamped. In that split second the tang, because it was malleable and the steel was heavy it bent and I want fast enough. So now I took the okay quenches and set them up vertically to never have the issue again. But that simple answer to your question… ya I could have 😅
@@TheMajimeChronicles thank you for responding haha! I’ve been using a carbide tip hammer to straighten my blades lately. Works great. Also that second blade is that stainless Damascus ?? Looks amazing
