    Replacing the stock servo and battery seem to be par for the course in this hobby so I’m not disappointed

    • @vinceruland9236
      @vinceruland9236 2 года назад +2

      You're correct. I've upgraded the servo on every RTR I have except the Losi mini B, and the JRX2 mini.

    • @TrillMurray
      @TrillMurray Год назад +3

      Plus it's a full size servo so you can use whatever you have laying around and it'll be plenty strong

    • @jackalo626
      @jackalo626 Год назад +1

      You should be disappointed though. This wouldn't fly in so many other aspects in life. I know it is reality now but it should be made a bigger deal so they fix it. Imagine in a very simple examople that instead of rc car, your real cars steering went out in the first few times driving. You wouldn't think, "ah its cool, we have to replace the steering on all cars, it's ok" . It turns a lot of people away from the hobby. Not everyone wants to wrench all the time or buy an rc and then spend double in parts to make it work in a few months and they give up. It would grow more if they made them a bit more reliable in rtr form.

      @@jackalo626 has anyone actually had one of these fail in the trx4m? Or is the all plastic version just known to fail in 1:10 trucks? I get that it's a known bad servo for bigger trucks but are these confirmed to be garbage in the trx4m?

    Well, lots of people were having problems with the shift servos in the Trx4, but not me. I've had my Trx4 Bronco for 4 years and ALL the electronics are original. I run big heavy 2.2 wheels/tires with brass portal weights and the steering servo is still going strong.

    Curious that you're "diving deep" when this is public knowledge available on the Traxxass website. Upon release Traxxas is going to have full support of replacement parts and upgrades and based on past releases, there will be plenty of aftermarket support within a very short amount of time. Basic parts like the servo under light play will do just fine, if you're going to take it to the next level then a metal servo of that size will be easy to swap out and plenty of suppliers already carry that size and are less than $20. Wheels and tires, 1/24 AND 1/18 scale trucks share the same size 1.0 wheel which cost $15-$40 for an aluminum upgrade, tires cost the same, come in different sizes, compound and styles. Part of what makes this hobby fun is the personalization and upgrades. Personally I think the hardbody they're offering is a nice step up from a lexan body but it has nothing to do with their clipless system, if you remember that system was introduced with a lexan body not a hardbody. Sure an interior would be nice but then the incredibly reasonable price of $150 would jump considering the extra injection molded part, besides, Traxxas has never offered an interior. If that's a deal breaker, consider how many companies make interiors for the TRX4 there are plenty not to mention the 3D printed ones out there, wait and you should have a decent selection. Axial gave us the SCX24, FMS gave us the FCX24 and there are plenty of other companies that have produced their own versions of the 1/24 which gives you choices based on looks performance and budget. There are also 1/18 scale models to choose from and now Traxxas is giving us another choice. Traxxas changed the game with the TRX4, now they are introducing another vehicle and based on their previous successes, this will be another great rc to their already popular lineup. As people should, do some research before buying and or wait till there is plenty of utube content to help make up your mind. That's my long winded 2 cents anyways.

    Subscribed btw. I really enjoyed that you included that extra bit of research at the end. I was chatting with my brother about teaching style the other day. We are both in the art biz. He’s taught bronze casting at the college level and I’ve done some tutoring. We both developed a style of communication that’s geared towards making all the ideas as useful and interesting to the listener as possible since most of the teachers we had growing up didn’t care about doing that and we saw a lot of classmates get bored and quit. You do it right. Completely bs-free. I especially appreciated the comments about which bodies you thought would perform better due to weight biases and approach and departure angles.

    The price is very respectable. The only thing I don’t like about the bodies is they don’t have interiors. Note that ABS plastic yellows with age so grays and even blue might not age well. The defender would have made me happier if it came in orange like the 1/10. The only other thing I don’t like about the traxxas defender body is the wheels and fenders are way bigger than scale. Like Icelandic proportions.

    any RTR servo is junk but traxxas takes junk to another level in all their rigs. literally a $25 amazon servo is leaps and bounds above a traxxas servo. i'm stoked for the M though, picking one up this month along with a regular 4.
