you just showed me how to use that bobber, i have been using a plug at both ends with a bobber stop a few inches from the hook, but just wedging the line in would be allot simpler, could even use a plug with a split so i can switch rigs on a leader. i just hadn't thought about it. i'm a new fisher who enjoyed it at a kid and am trying to get back into it, but as a kid i was just handed a fishing rod, never had to deal with any rigging so learning that is taking some time, but it is a fun time.
Fishing for cats out of my local pond. I keep the sinkers to about 1 ounce so I can cast out to the seaweed beds in the cooler water. There’s no current in the pond, and 1 oz surely is enough to hold it on the bottom
Thank you very much, Dougie Mac! hearing polite comments makes me feel good about what i try to do. Be sure to let me know if you have any video ideas 😎
@@theworshipbunker haven't had much luck on the missouri river a lot of it isn't accessible due to businesses owning all the river front property and a couple of slots that are got closed due to people trashing the shore.... I'm gonna try out the elkhorn river this weekend and see how it goes
That’s the Ambassador S! I wanted to see how the cheapest model would handle tough use. I love it, even though I just use it for channel cats . The line is Berkley Trilene Big Cat! It’s their special catfish line and it’s great, too. Thanks for your comment 😎 you’re the best!
Hi, Josh! That’s a Berkley big game rod and it is 6’6”. This is a set up for my channel catfishing. They can handle flatheads and blues, though! I got this one to be a little shorter and stouter for real woodsy and bushy places.
I've been experimenting with the Santee rig, I typically use a disk sinker, I find that they stick better in fast current. I've tried a different experiment as well, I put the sinker slide below the swivel so that the rig cast much better and doesn't have the risk of tangling, but as I didn't get bit, I'm not sure if it worked or not. I theory it would work the same other than you not being able to let the fish have line until it felt the sinker.
Hey Dom. Really enjoying your videos!! I wasn't a fan of pyramid sinkers. I've lost quite a few of them caught in snags. Do you favor them over no roll and egg sinkers for the Santee Cooper rig?
Dom. Do you use this rig for bank fishing in lakes? I've heard people use them primarily for drift fishing.I made a bunch of rigs and im eager to try them just wanted your input.
I'm a bank fisher as well. I can't use the pyramids where I fish because they catch on the rocks and fallen tree limbs. Tighten up your shantee so it doesn't float up as high, use wire or a strong mono for the lead. I use a drop weight because it doesn't get caught as easy, and be aware of how you cast. What kind of gear are you running? You may have to be gentler with how you cast, or use a rod with a bit more flex depending on what kind of reel you have
I've using this rig in small ponds with good success I've been using 1.25inch and 2 inch floats small floats for light bait and the 2 inch for big cut bait

Great video but what size hook length float and weight sinker keep them coming

Right?
Thank you brother
Do you feel the catfish drop the bait after they feel the fixed sinker versus using a slip sinker or sinker slide?
Dang bro. You're killing us with all the good 411. Very impressive. Gladly subscribed!!!!

🤫 Everybody already plays with their leader, it's a touchy subject
Do you cast and reel with a rig like this, or do you let it sit on the bottom and wait for a strike?
If the weight slides on the line the float will pull the line through it until it reaches the surface. I don't see then how this could work.
Which model ambassador reel do you have on and what type of line do you have on???

Both! Promise it works :) I’m out on the Tennessee right now drifting and we put some in the boat with demon dragons.
Dom, I fish from the bank and my santee rigs get tangled everytime I try them. What do you suggest?
Do you ever try a 3 way rig from the same spot you fish?
