  • Megabass expands their jerkbait lineup with the VISION ONETEN+2, a new class of jerkbait that delivers the tournament-proven ONETEN action in the 12-foot depth range using 12lb fluorocarbon.
    FEATURED PRODUCT:
    -Megabass Vision Oneten+2 Jerkbait: wired2.fish/Vi...
    -Megabass Orochi F4.5-611XX JERKBAIT SPECIAL Casting Rod: wired2.fish/Je...
    -Seaguar InvizX Fluorocarbon Line, 12lb: wired2.fish/Se...
    -Shimano Curado CU201 K (left hand) Casting Reel: wired2.fish/Sh...
    -Megabass Throwback Trucker Hat: wired2.fish/Me...
    Professional bass angler Chris Zaldain explains why getting deeper can mean more bass in a lot of situations. For one, bass often suspend off the edge of ledges or breaks beyond the reach of conventional jerkbaits, which perform to a depth of around 6-feet. Crankbaits then become the bait of choice, but a jerkbait, particularly in clear water, often outperforms.
    Getting a jerkbait into a deeper strike zone opens you up to an entirely new class of fish, be it staging prespawners, deep spawners, deeper summer fish or fall/winter consolidated schools.
    Chris explains how to fish the bait order to achieve its maximum depth, which for Chris on this particular day, was 16-feet. Tuned rod and reel setups optimized for working jerkbaits and supporting long casting distances is important -- he details each component and how it improves jerkbait performance.

    Chris! your casting and reel setup is so efficient! you cast with right and wind with your left! no wasted action having to switch hands. I know it's a millisecond you save, but in some situations, every second counts! Anyone else cast right and wind left handed or visa versa?

    • @Wired2Fish
      @Wired2Fish  5 лет назад +2

      Yeah, ideally an angler can train themselves from the onset but it isn't something usually top of mind. Some of the more ambidextrous sorts can relearn pretty easily, but it's not so easy to relearn the muscle memory for most.

    • @Hook2Cook
      @Hook2Cook 5 лет назад +1

      Wired2Fish yes that’s so true! Muscle memory can be a big challenge and learning something fresh from the beginning is a huge advantage. That’s a reason I love this sport so much. You can go in depth as much as you want to in order to be a better angler. I appreciate the response!

      I am right handed but use left handed reels and always have with baitcasters. I think because I always had my spinning reels set up for left hand reeling as well. Somewhat ambidextrous though. I have a few right handed friends who just can’t get the hang of it.

      Most people in UK wind-in with their left hand.
      When GTZ fishing or something you.rwally don't gave time to be swapping hands, takes can come as soon as the lure hits the water.

    If you had to pick 4 colors to fish anywhere in the country on the 110+2 what would they be?
    I always buy 2 of anything so that’s $200 and I want to make sure it’s spent properly.

    What did you meant go with the wind? Did you casting in the same direction of the wind or cast into the wind?

    • @Wired2Fish
      @Wired2Fish  5 лет назад +1

      He meant target areas of the lake where the wind is blowing into, where the roughest is. Thanks for asking Mark.

    I tried megabass once paying around 20 bucks and it lasted longer going to the store and tie it on than the one cast I threw it and got hung up. Imagine getting snagged 5 of these....100 bucks gone that quick. I don’t think I’ll be trying to go deep lol

    I wonder why no one sponsored by megabass uses megabass reels.

    • @Wired2Fish
      @Wired2Fish  5 лет назад

      Pretty sure their reels are a Megabass of Japan only product (JDM) so those marketing efforts don't apply under the Megabass of America brand.

    Can you troll these?!

    • @Wired2Fish
      @Wired2Fish  5 лет назад +1

      Hi Joe, absolutely! This will get the Oneten +2 down DEEP in that 15-20 foot range depending on the amount of line out and rod angle. We suspect it would be an excellent option for walleye and pike and know for a fact that 'jerk trolling' smallmouth is deadly. I've personally had excellent trolling success for walleyes using the Megabass Diving Flap Slap Crankbait. - Ryan
