I travel to Chiang Mai partly for the Khao Soi when in Thailand. It is one of those dishes that you simply cannot replicate even in Bangkok let alone anywhere else in the world. I miss Thailand so much..and these videos make me so happy. Thank you for sharing as always.
You kind of missed the point of my comment in terms of taking it so literally but if it made you better to be rude to someone making a genuinely heart felt comment go ahead.
I have a guess for the "fruity" flavor you mention at Kanom Jeen Pa Pom. I ate there about a month ago, and I came across a bit of black cardomom pod in the Khao Soi. I think the flavor might have been really fresh whole-pod black cardomom. I love that place. It made my top three list on my last trip to Thailand.
Gary, I love your enthusiasm and appreciation for all Thai food. Every dish is also my favorite which is why I love your channel. Keep it up and be safe sir!
Another amazing video, Gary!! Khao Soi is my absolute favorite and I can't wait to try it in Chiang Mai sometime. I have literally been eating Khao Soi almost every day for the last 2 weeks 😂😋🤤
Just in Chiang Mai at the moment Tried the Khao Soi Khun Yai with beef today! Absolutely delicious! Yesterday we went to Phi Maeo Khao Soi! My wife loved it! Thanks for your videos! 🇩🇪 👍🏻
Love the video Gary & cannot wait to head over to Chiang Mai when we’re there in January 😉 We are certain to visit most if not all of them! Thanks for posting this awesome food vlog 🙏🏼
Yo Gary, love the vids, watched like a year's worth in a week -- as someone who's not super familiar with the cuisine / culture / country in general, can you give a quick rundown of a dish if you make vids like this? Legit like just 10 seconds, would be great for us noobies :)
Looks good! I don't think my March trip over to Bangkok is going to happen, sadly! Was looking forward to eating Khao Soi! In Japan we never pas from from chopsticks to chopsticks. It's frowned upon! It only happens at funerals when placing the bones in the funerary jar.
you've probably already tried it, but in bangkapi mall in bangkok, there is a gourmet food court, and they do an incredible khao soi in there,on the pricey side for a khao soi but it's lovely. would love to know your thoughts on it if you're ever there or have already tried it.
@@theroamingcook In Thailand. It's actually the only one I found in Patts ;-) It's called KHAO SOI CHIANG MAI KRU AOR. It's an uncle & aunty place like your recent DMK noodle video.
Sorry, wrong neighborhoods for me. I don't ever see a need to travel for Khao Soy. If it's not convenient to me and where I am, I won't be going there. Perhaps next time I am venturing in one of these hoods, I will stop by, but there is so many choices right by my condo, I don't see a reason to use this info.
I was in Chiang Mai a few days ago. It has to be the most over rated town in Thailand. One big unavoidable tourist trap. I’ve had much better food in Bangkok and many other places in thailand. I have been there several times in the past but post pandemic, just give it a big miss.
For me as a local I prefer Loong Prakit and I think it's spicy for foreigner .I never add more chili but you put more!! 😮Wow คุณกินเผ็ดเก่งมาก❤😊
I think it’s the best too 😀

Nonsense of course you can ”replicate” it! Many of the best places in BKK are run from people from Chiang Mai!

i’m in chiang mai RIGHT NOW!! going to go get some khao soi tomorrow morning

You`re The MAN! Thanx Gary! I`m just a week away from coming to Thailand!

I love getting a burger in Chiang Mai it never disappoints either 💯

Arak and Maesai are my two favourite go to spots for khao soi in Chiang Mai. I find Khun Yai too watery.

Mega bowls ❤
So good mate!
Not sure how you did not include Khao Soi Wua Lai ? 🤔
I think it’s closed no?
@@theroamingcook No. it’s open. They are just not good with their online marketing as I think Google says it closed!

Have you ever done a Thailand vegan episode? Would be very keen to see if there's an 'authentic' vegan Thai food scene.
My favorite dish ❤🇹🇭🙏
What was that fruity taste from khao soi 3rd place Gary?

Sorry to hear that, I hope you can get over soon and thanks for the info, I know not to do it when I finally get to Japan!

Ha ha ha wow so hungry 😋🎉

Okay okay ❤❤❤❤

Best khao soi is in Pattaya across from Vogue hotel
As in the best in Thailand or Patts?

Why didn’t you ask her what the fruity ingredient was? Inquiring minds want to know too… 😂
I did, she just said curry powder 😂
ข้าวซอยเป็นอาหารจีนมุสลิม
