    I think that plywood tank with the arowana was my favorite tank you’ve done on the channel. I thought that looked absolutely phenomenal

    I think you should put wood trim on the outside of class panel to hide silicone

      I was going to say the same I thought he might of had it off or somthing for the video

    You should put in a circular island in the tank. The big wood looks like it takes up too much space and doesn’t complement the oscars

    WAIT A MINUTE - WHY is this the FIRST TIME I'm hearing about this disc thing with the dogs? GO GIRL. YOU RULE.

    Joined this channel during its early days, when I was getting back into the hobby and it's been sooooo helpful. Unfortunately I stopped keeping fish about 1½-2 years ago due to a house move, then lockdown. I'm still here here though. Great work 👍

    The first time I moved, I thought the bacteria was in the water and I should save it. Over 150 gallons transported in 5-gallon buckets🤣🤣

      This hurts me. Dang so much effort when you needed at most 3 buckets for all decor.

    • @ThatOneDudeStu
      @ThatOneDudeStu 3 года назад +3

      I drive a Yaris too, so it was in trips of 5-6 buckets at a time. Took me longer to move the fish than all my stuff😂.

    • @RickCatita
      @RickCatita 3 года назад

      I have Oscars, they dig and spit sand into my filter inputs slowly filling my filter with sand :(
      I topped my sand with river stones, and that has been great. If ever I get around to reset my tank, I will skip the sand and just use stones.

    • @calebsunder
      @calebsunder 3 года назад

      @@RickCatita true, sand is generally high maintenance, it's usually better to have an input high up. A sump system generally works best. I personally always use gravel, I love how sand looks but I've found from a filtration and maintenance standpoint, medium to large sized gravel is the best.

    Part of that fog after you turn on the filters is really the beneficial bacteria spreading throughout the tank from the out water. Really great advice! Some gets collected again but it starts to columnize.

    My ultimate goal in fish keeping is an oscar shoal (or a pair of grumpy giant gouramis I can feed grapes to). I'm so happy to see someone living that dream! My ultimate goal is an 8' oscar tank with 2 tigers, 2 albinos, 2 commons and 2 of whatever the newest variation of oscar exists. Oscars and angelfish are the ultimate puppy dog fish. Thanks for the videos, I love the content!

    Absolutely love cichlids but I've ALWAYS found myself coming back to my water puppies. So glad they finally went in! Currently I have three oscars and one of them loves to be hand fed. He won't grab anything from my forceps but will always grab anything in my hand.

  • @RickCatita
    @RickCatita 3 года назад

    Looks great with the wood, Oscar are wonderful fish and once they mature they will appreciate having the wood seperation so they can each claim territories. They like to dig which has caused my filters to slowly fill with sand...my answer has been river stones as substrate.
    To answer your challenge Joey, I keep fish in an aquarium; but you are right they do a fine job being happy without me... It's tending the bacteria colony which is my critical role in their environment.
    Also don't tell my wife but I have a secret bin of red wiggler composting worms hidden under our basement stairs. The compost is great for the garden, and from time to time my Oscars get some worms as a treat.

    Ranchers can run cattle from the back of a horse all day.
    But what no one talks about is they have brilliant pasture maintenance rituals to keep the grass growing.
    No pastures no cows.
    No bacteria no fish.
    Id say you're a cowboy.
    Keep up the amazing stuff.
    Im so happy about an oscar tank.

    Hey Joey not sure if you've ever heard of Vantablack. This black tank made me think of that. You said you didn't like your paint to the tank, and I was thinking it would be amazing to do a space themed tank like your arrowana one where you literally only see the fish swimming inside but nothing else. Would take a very good lamp though. If you want an idea of what that would look like, I believe so eon in RUclips has an entire room painted with it and it's insane what you can do with the correct lighting and such.
