    Tesla needs to dimple the center of the cutouts to enable auto centering of the drill.

      Tesla recommends professional installation. Professionals use hydraulic knock-out sets.

    I would like to know more about the wall prep. It looks like you have installed a special material to mount to, but then the first screw is driven in at a very weak angle? Why?

    • @ahcdmv
      @ahcdmv  2 месяца назад

      The PVC board was the customer’s request and had no effect on the mounting. The mounting brackets must be attached to at least 2 studs, so the angle was to ensure it was properly anchored.
      In the end the PVC board was painted black to highlight the white Powerwalls, and they aren’t budging for anything!

    If you gentlemen in the comments not Tesla certified battery installer and doesn't know your municipality electrical codes don't say if something is wrong. Also it takes usually two people to install these batteries. Good job boyz.

    Looks fairly straightforward and pretty easy too. Why does Tesla charge over 6000 for installation of one unit?

    I'm leaning towards two Powerwall 3's. We have brownouts here in rural Fl. I want to use them like a UPS, when my power drops out for a second or 5 minutes it steps in and provides power in an instant. Are they made for that? Do I also need solar panels? Thanks

    • @ahcdmv
      @ahcdmv  5 месяцев назад +1

      Yes, this is a perfect use case! Powerwalls will take over if/when grid power drops. If you don't have solar, you can charge them using grid power. (no solar needed)

    running low voltage along side high voltage wires? isnt this against code and arent you worried about rfi?

  • @SolarTechFL

    Need a min #8 ground more battery separation also dont run comms with ac or dc wiring and use sheilded wire for a more reliable system

    • @tragedy1496
      @tragedy1496 6 месяцев назад

      When was the last time you did solar? Your last video is 2 years ago I’m saying because I’ve seen comms wire be ran in dc power walls lots of times

    • @Scherich
      @Scherich 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@tragedy1496 Don't listen to him lol. 4" is the minimum clearance which this one looks to have. 250.122 says #10 is good up to 60A which would be the breaker size for the Powerwall3. As far as the comm wire goes, technically it should be 600V rated wire. Some inspectors look for it here in FL but not many. I run it in the conduit as well sometimes. Job looks clean. Way better than 90% of the trash I see around here. Nice job.

    Do powerwalls require an internet connection to work? I don’t have internet at my house.

    • @ahcdmv
      @ahcdmv  5 месяцев назад

      They do not require an internet connection to work, but the functionality will be limited. They will still be fully operable, but will not be able to be monitored through the app, activate automated features like Storm Watch, or receive over-the-air updates.

    • @BMWguy206
      @BMWguy206 5 месяцев назад

      I watched a RUclips video stating that having an internet connection is necessary for Powerwall firmware updates. Without the Powerwall connected to the internet with no firmware updates, the warranty will only be 4-years.

    Not too wise to be running comms directly with electrical conductors. Probably cheap unshielded Cat5 too. Very clean install though.

    Can these be installed as just a full home battery back up, with no solar? or Have solar added in the future? I have a Generator that provide emergency power, but Would love a battery system for short duration outages!
