I think everything was good. But they totally forgot the most important thing. Chill driving. Every TDU2 fan loved spending time driving, not necessarily racing. Turn signals, windows, convertibles, radio, garages, good car interior and other things they could've added. Edit: it is implemented. But even so, I missed a mention of it. The focus on this aspect is important for potential TDU SC buyers.
Very promising gameplay, has some NFS U2 vibe, but I miss few things: - different tachometers for every car, that was something only seen in TDU - some kind of interaction with objects in headquaters, like swimming in pool - gps sounds like in previous TDU games - power/charge gauge instead of regular tacho in electric cars - optional fuel system since there already are gas stations - some kind of cutscenes on gas stations, like washing cars in TDU2 - freeroam before starting race, like in TDU2 - motorcycles - didn't saw a lot scenes from the cockpit view but it would be nice to have fully functional dashboards in car (like changing modes between sport/eco etc.) But I understand that it's still alpha so lot of things can change. I'm really hyped for this game.
I dont agree with the tachometers thing. Nowadays cars are not what they used to be. They are now like phones. The rest are so cool (without freeroam I wouldnt even buy it)
I hope they add motorcycles, because the lack of motorcycles is disturbing. As well as the ability to buy houses/condo because having a hotel as your main loft and nothing else basically defeats the purpose.
Applause for not showing any scripted gameplay and just footage from an Alpha build. Hope this wraps up nicely. At this momebt it's too soon to judge it and also competition looks different than in the Unlimited era. Not hyped because I haven't seen anything new, but fingers crossed it will be good once it launches.

TDU to me wasn't even about the racing. It was about cruising and enjoying the beautiful vistas, going to Car Dealerships to walk around and see some new cars. Getting a car wash from sexy women in bikinis, going to the casino, buying a house and customizing it... Etc. TDU2 was like my second life where I had everything I wanted and living life to the fullest. I pray they understand why this series is so beloved by many. TDU was almost like an open world Sims game.
The game doesn't look bad but I just gotta vent on some stuff: - The physics feel like a straight copy of NFS, especially when moving in corners. Typical for lots of racing games nowadays, feels very arcadey. - Haven't seen dealerships and the demonstration of walking into one, buying a car, sitting in the interior etc. - Havent seen a single classic muscle car - Havent seen a demonstration when playing poker, thats what I loved about TDU2. Sitting at a table and cleaning the tables, loved the addition of having the ability to emote and serve drinks for others at the table. - Would love to see an animation seeing your character fuel up your vehicle when the meter is low so you drive to a gas station and fill it. - I saw indicators, big plus guys good stuff. - Would love to see a demonstration with a hardtop going down. - Bit of a bummer its just a stream of people playing, rather would have seen a single person explaining whats happening when demonstrating stuff in a detailed manner. I know it's an alpha version after all and lots of stuff will be changed. But I just hope you guys dont forget about the details TDU2 had. Details make a game!

We need houses. Other than that the only thing that concerns me, despite it having more road, is the fact that it's a smaller map. Part of TDU DNA is those long drives to the different shops with your friends. It's stopping along the highway knowing you still have 20 minutes to go, sometimes on the same road. Long open roads and breathtaking areas. I don't want just condensed nonsense
houses need to come last and gameplay / driving / map first. you'll have an apartment to start and can meet up with friends at the clubhouse and what not. i'm sure they'll prob keep adding stuff before it's all said and done.
This little shit is actually hard to do. By the way, there are A LOT of tiny but very hard things in games that people do not realize (I refer to google: "The Door Problem" to get some understanding if someone is interested).

These are a must for this game to be what TDU fans loved so much -realistic feeling vehicle handling (I hope there is implementation of motorcycles again because the realistic handling of the motorcycles on tdu2 was nice) -Many leisure opportunities(casino/ enterable buildings such as dealerships, car shops, houses,yacht) -New additions such as detailed customization of vehicles and living spaces -Increased open world world activities -a focus on the “cruising” aspect that many test drive players play the game for nobody wants to cruise when the handling and physics don’t meet even the prior version of the game I think the focus should be to up the previous game, while that may be hard that’s what modern technology is here for. If they could make a game that nice in early 2010 you can do it now a lot easier just focus on the community and the things they really loved about the game that will take your game much further than just trying to replicate competitors like NFS

My best experience with the Test Drive series is actually with the TDU Platinum mod. I love it so much, because it doesn't strictly put the focus on just racing, but the CARS and the feeling of driving them. There are so many of them (seriously, it's like a Gran Turismo game) and they are all so detailed that I usually don't care about the expensive supercars and just wanna drive a car I'd actually own. Getting to the dealership, buying an old Honda Civic and just cruising around Hawaii with a nice song on the radio is fun. I hope Solar Crown can replicate that, I mean the game looks decent (it's certainly no Forza Horizon) but it was never about banging triple A graphics really. It was all about the driving! If it can get that aspect right, it's gonna be all good. Fingers crossed!
I’m hoping for exactly the same thing, specially for the niche and unique cars that only TDU had, I want the vibe that it always gave me. Honestly, I don’t have a lot of hope for this one.
I'm waiting for that game, but I hope it would have more unpopular cars, such as Saturn Curve or Chevy SSR, which appeared in older games of the series. Those supercars from the gameplay appear in every racing game. I really hope that the unicorn cars would appear again

also making Hong Kong feel alive would help, this game looks soulless with how little traffic is involved. I do not like cars or traffic but I do enjoy my racing games and if you can’t capture the street racing aspect of a city with 7.5 million people in it then you cannot release a good product.
This does not look like a TDU game at all and honesty looks very disappointing. It looks like an nfs/forza clone with 6+ year old graphics. The roads are empty and the city looks completely lifeless. Driving physics look very arcadey and car damage looks terrible. There doesn’t even seem to buyable houses, let alone car dealerships. They seriously need to go back to the drawing board if they don’t want to kill off another good franchise.
Kid, its the opposite. It was NFS and Forza that LOOKS like Test Drive. Hell, Forza Horizon series is literally TDU copy. Test Drive is the GTA of racing. And like every tps game looks like GTa, every racing game looks like TD

I was really looking forward to the game. But what I've seen here unfortunately puts a huge damper on my excitement. Where were the things that set TDU apart from other game franchises? Everything looked like a generic racing game. Nothing special that would have been worth waiting over 10 years for. Not to mention the way the game was presented with those "influencers"...
I am totally agree with you. I was waiting this game so hard and was sure that "The King is back", however after watching 15 mins of gameplay already I realised devs actually killing this game. I couldn't see a difference from other o.w. racing games in general. One crucial thing to me was the speedometer - each car has its own in previous games and I was dead sure they gonna do the same in S.C. and what a disappointment it was watching it's common for all cars now... Another big disadvantage - no more other property, it's a shame. I remember this director told that they are gonna keep all the things and details that make TDU distinguished and unique among other racing games, but in reality they screwed everything up as it seems to me. The game lost its uniqueness, looks like another copy of forza, the crew etc... It would be much better if they just remastered both parts of the game improving physics, graphics and maybe adding something new, but for me TDU 1was the best and ahead of its time, second was also cool but less enjoyable to me.

The only response devs and publishers get through it is that they don't need to improve the quality or even make sure to release a finished game and that they'll make their money no matter what.it's honestly sad that you can release half a game in an unfinished state these days and no one will even question it after they bought it but either hope that they'll fix it eventually or just let their money go to waste by completely dropping the game after a month or two if not earlier
I'm not gonna lie.. I'm very scared this is becoming another Forza or NFS type game... The graphics are not even the biggest issue, TDU had a different feel, it was more then just a ''racing game'', it was a lifestyle so to say... Dress nice, buy nice houses, buy your favorite cars, making test drives to make sure that the car was the one for you, selecting your trim, paint, interior color etc etc all that was a vibe. The game was more a relaxing type game then a genuine racing game which i'm scared that this will be the latter. It doesn't really look like there is much sense of speed in this, TDU2 had that down to a teet imho. I loved just driving around, cruising with the top down on my 430 Scuderia Spider and listening to my fav tunes on Hariba Radio. The map looks cool, must really look at that for myself to judge, I love the cars but it's already looking like there are too many sports/supercars and not enough other types of cars. Not being able to buy a house is a massive, and I mean MASSIVE let down, that was the thing that made TDU such a damn cool game, I'm wondering to see how all the customizations look for the hotel and such. The arcady driving is also 50/50 imo, in TDU and TDU2 obviously it was arcade, this is not a simulation game, but when you hit a wall or a car at 100mph you were pretty much stopped in your tracks, the dude in the Vette hit a guy at 200mph or so and he kept on cruising.. Yes Yes Alpha, I know, but let's be honest the game is 95% done because it's been years of progress already and saying the game is Alpha is a way for game developers to back out of issues and things that are unliked, sorry not sorry... I kept my hype to a certain level, being dissapointed by faaar too many games in the previous years, and for a good reason... I'm not sure this game will be the banger and follow up for TDU (2). We'll see eventually! TLDR: Game is meh looking (not talking graphics wise, that is fine for my standards), not sure it's filling the TDU name as it should!

The houses are supposedly coming soon. Physics are definitely my number 1 issue though it looks extremely Arcady which would make me put the game down right away. Too many fast cars and no motorcycles. I want a game that starts from the bottom and works your way up into the best house and fastest cars. I don't want to start and the game immediately gives me a Ferrari, Lamborghini etc I want to work for those cars. This is how pretty much all old school racing games were about but recently it's not been like that at all. If they are worried about some friends having the best cars and new people having slow crappy cars then they should have a share car function that will make it a little more fun in those aspects.
This needs to be really in depth and enhanced with what test drive is about but better,More realism and rpg elements on top of good car mechanics/graphics ❤️
So I think the First impression feels more like an advanced fh5 but not quite like tdu. What made tdu so special was the feeling it gave you. Buying houses, going into shops, buying clothes, playing poker, all those aspects that no other racing game ever had until today. I hope they will add some stuff, the basement looks really good.
Huge TDU fan. But I've would love to share my preferences and opinions. - I need more car physics. I want to be afraid to reach top speed. - it's not about racing, more about lifestyle and immersivnes. - TDU 2 was a lot of dark in shades, escp in cars. I also see a lot of black, unlit area in car. GI is expensive but some dim light needed. - car is our child and we need interactions, like fueling car, etc. - roads are to flat, misses imperfections, like bumps and etc. - GPS sounds! - more camera animation immersion, when top speed or hitting stuff. Need more feedback. Also camera movement in cockpit feels rigid.

What a disaster. TDU was about immersion. This looks like another Crew. Why everyone stopped trying to make grounded games for adults and everything nowadays looks like a mobile game for 10 years old?
This was a waste of time. Just give an overview of the game and it’s features with some gameplay. This whole “live let’s play” with cheesy conversation and bad gameplay did not make me more interested in the game.
This was a terrible reveal, just a bunch of influencers smashing into each other the hole time. This reveal has not shown what the test drive games where all about. If it wasn’t for the test drive license plates you would think this is the new crew 3 or something. Am very doubtful about this game now. This is the worst reveal I have seen I think.

Who doesnt want to hear 6 people talking at the same time, Sounds nearly turned off, all those clicking noises of the controller, and absolute chaos of not following whatever is even happening because of all the cuts. If you're making an open world racing game you need to focus on making traffic, no point bombing around and seeing 5 civilian cars, especially somewhere like Hong Kong, it should be absolutely bustling, like a no hesi server.
Wow I'm impressed by how TIGHT the gameplay is, how BIG the island is, how THICK the vegetation is, I most definitely WOULD buy the game on release day, it's HARD to ignore how far they've COME.

looks cool, but... much of the Test Drive Unlimited experience is: - Buy house - Clothing store - and MAINLY visit dealerships TDU is more than a forza, test drive is a Glaumour Life Simulator Too, and the best thing is that you are a car collector, I missed it!
TDU1 and 2 were great games, but part of what made them great is they were innovative and existed in a world with less racing game competition.. The problem this game has is that Forza Horizon exists and is excellent and is also basically free on Game Pass. I didnt see anything here in this presentation that i cant already do in Forza Horizon
While it's a similar game, the ability to walk around, buy houses, go to dealerships, etc could make the game fantastic. But for me it all depends on the physics whether it's Forza quality which feels decent or the crew which feels absolutely horrible and makes me want to put the controller down.
Remember guys, TDU2 came out in 2011. This is going out in 2024, 13 years later, and i see no improvement appart from visuals, and gameplay-wise is clearly a step back.

These are a must for this game to be what TDU fans loved so much
-realistic feeling vehicle handling (I hope there is implementation of motorcycles again because the realistic handling of the motorcycles on tdu2 was nice)
-Many leisure opportunities(casino/ enterable buildings such as dealerships, car shops, houses,yacht)
-New additions such as detailed customization of vehicles and living spaces
-Increased open world world activities
-a focus on the “cruising” aspect that many test drive players play the game for nobody wants to cruise when the handling and physics don’t meet even the prior version of the game
I think the focus should be to up the previous game, while that may be hard that’s what modern technology is here for. If they could make a game that nice in early 2010 you can do it now a lot easier just focus on the community and the things they really loved about the game that will take your game much further than just trying to replicate competitors like NFS

My best experience with the Test Drive series is actually with the TDU Platinum mod. I love it so much, because it doesn't strictly put the focus on just racing, but the CARS and the feeling of driving them. There are so many of them (seriously, it's like a Gran Turismo game) and they are all so detailed that I usually don't care about the expensive supercars and just wanna drive a car I'd actually own. Getting to the dealership, buying an old Honda Civic and just cruising around Hawaii with a nice song on the radio is fun.
I hope Solar Crown can replicate that, I mean the game looks decent (it's certainly no Forza Horizon) but it was never about banging triple A graphics really. It was all about the driving! If it can get that aspect right, it's gonna be all good. Fingers crossed!
I’m hoping for exactly the same thing, specially for the niche and unique cars that only TDU had, I want the vibe that it always gave me. Honestly, I don’t have a lot of hope for this one.
I'm waiting for that game, but I hope it would have more unpopular cars, such as Saturn Curve or Chevy SSR, which appeared in older games of the series. Those supercars from the gameplay appear in every racing game. I really hope that the unicorn cars would appear again

TDU had a perfect mix of regular cars and supercars. Having just supercars is boring as hell and their superiority over other cars can't even be felt.

- Adjustable windows
- Steering wheel turning all the way
- Different tachometers for each car
- Being able to color stitching and other small details in cars
Addition of small details in such games is what we all want. 80% of us love cruising around and such details add so much to the feeling.
also making Hong Kong feel alive would help, this game looks soulless with how little traffic is involved. I do not like cars or traffic but I do enjoy my racing games and if you can’t capture the street racing aspect of a city with 7.5 million people in it then you cannot release a good product.

This does not look like a TDU game at all and honesty looks very disappointing. It looks like an nfs/forza clone with 6+ year old graphics. The roads are empty and the city looks completely lifeless. Driving physics look very arcadey and car damage looks terrible. There doesn’t even seem to buyable houses, let alone car dealerships. They seriously need to go back to the drawing board if they don’t want to kill off another good franchise.

One thing i do hope is in the final build of the game is utilising the cars infotainment screens to display maps. That was super unique to TDU2 and no other game has that feature. Other than that i am very impressed with this

I was really looking forward to the game. But what I've seen here unfortunately puts a huge damper on my excitement. Where were the things that set TDU apart from other game franchises? Everything looked like a generic racing game. Nothing special that would have been worth waiting over 10 years for. Not to mention the way the game was presented with those "influencers"...

I am totally agree with you. I was waiting this game so hard and was sure that "The King is back", however after watching 15 mins of gameplay already I realised devs actually killing this game. I couldn't see a difference from other o.w. racing games in general. One crucial thing to me was the speedometer - each car has its own in previous games and I was dead sure they gonna do the same in S.C. and what a disappointment it was watching it's common for all cars now...
Another big disadvantage - no more other property, it's a shame. I remember this director told that they are gonna keep all the things and details that make TDU distinguished and unique among other racing games, but in reality they screwed everything up as it seems to me.
The game lost its uniqueness, looks like another copy of forza, the crew etc...
It would be much better if they just remastered both parts of the game improving physics, graphics and maybe adding something new, but for me TDU 1was the best and ahead of its time, second was also cool but less enjoyable to me.

The only response devs and publishers get through it is that they don't need to improve the quality or even make sure to release a finished game and that they'll make their money no matter what.it's honestly sad that you can release half a game in an unfinished state these days and no one will even question it after they bought it but either hope that they'll fix it eventually or just let their money go to waste by completely dropping the game after a month or two if not earlier

I'm not gonna lie.. I'm very scared this is becoming another Forza or NFS type game... The graphics are not even the biggest issue, TDU had a different feel, it was more then just a ''racing game'', it was a lifestyle so to say... Dress nice, buy nice houses, buy your favorite cars, making test drives to make sure that the car was the one for you, selecting your trim, paint, interior color etc etc all that was a vibe. The game was more a relaxing type game then a genuine racing game which i'm scared that this will be the latter.
It doesn't really look like there is much sense of speed in this, TDU2 had that down to a teet imho. I loved just driving around, cruising with the top down on my 430 Scuderia Spider and listening to my fav tunes on Hariba Radio.
The map looks cool, must really look at that for myself to judge, I love the cars but it's already looking like there are too many sports/supercars and not enough other types of cars. Not being able to buy a house is a massive, and I mean MASSIVE let down, that was the thing that made TDU such a damn cool game, I'm wondering to see how all the customizations look for the hotel and such.
The arcady driving is also 50/50 imo, in TDU and TDU2 obviously it was arcade, this is not a simulation game, but when you hit a wall or a car at 100mph you were pretty much stopped in your tracks, the dude in the Vette hit a guy at 200mph or so and he kept on cruising..
Yes Yes Alpha, I know, but let's be honest the game is 95% done because it's been years of progress already and saying the game is Alpha is a way for game developers to back out of issues and things that are unliked, sorry not sorry...
I kept my hype to a certain level, being dissapointed by faaar too many games in the previous years, and for a good reason... I'm not sure this game will be the banger and follow up for TDU (2). We'll see eventually!

Exactly my impression. I was hoping they would show a bit more of the TDU DNA. For me, there were too many luxury cars at the start. So the game looks very generic at the moment.

I want this game for after im done with a crazy difficult online race in Forza Motorsport or ACC. i wanna jump into my sh*tbox or my MX-5 or even Ferrari 430 spider, pull over, out my hazards on, put the top down, crack the music up, and cruise with friends or alone for HOOOUUURS!! this demo literally didnt give me even 1% of that feeling will be possible. Physics are definitely my number 1 issue though it looks extremely Arcady which would make me put the game down right away.
Too many fast cars and no motorcycles. I want a game that starts from the bottom and works your way up into the best house and fastest cars. I don't want to start and the game immediately gives me a Ferrari, Lamborghini etc I want to work for those cars. This is how pretty much all old school racing games were about but recently it's not been like that at all.
If they are worried about some friends having the best cars and new people having slow crappy cars then they should have a share car function that will make it a little more fun in those aspects.

So I think the First impression feels more like an advanced fh5 but not quite like tdu. What made tdu so special was the feeling it gave you. Buying houses, going into shops, buying clothes, playing poker, all those aspects that no other racing game ever had until today. I hope they will add some stuff, the basement looks really good.
All the first impressions and trailers already showed that it will be a mix of NfS and FH imo.

Huge TDU fan. But I've would love to share my preferences and opinions.
- I need more car physics. I want to be afraid to reach top speed.
- it's not about racing, more about lifestyle and immersivnes.
- TDU 2 was a lot of dark in shades, escp in cars. I also see a lot of black, unlit area in car. GI is expensive but some dim light needed.
- car is our child and we need interactions, like fueling car, etc.
- roads are to flat, misses imperfections, like bumps and etc.
- GPS sounds!
- more camera animation immersion, when top speed or hitting stuff. Need more feedback. Also camera movement in cockpit feels rigid.
For an alpha, this looks really good and still has a lot of elements from tdu 2. I'm excited to see where it goes from here

This was a waste of time. Just give an overview of the game and it’s features with some gameplay. This whole “live let’s play” with cheesy conversation and bad gameplay did not make me more interested in the game.

This was a terrible reveal, just a bunch of influencers smashing into each other the hole time. This reveal has not shown what the test drive games where all about. If it wasn’t for the test drive license plates you would think this is the new crew 3 or something. Am very doubtful about this game now. This is the worst reveal I have seen I think.

this is just same vibe as the crew or the forza horizon franchise, doesn't even come close to the feeling we had on the original tdu series.
This shows how to completely suck at giving first impression of a new videogame. Who doesnt want to hear 6 people talking at the same time, Sounds nearly turned off, all those clicking noises of the controller, and absolute chaos of not following whatever is even happening because of all the cuts.
By the looks of it, it looks like a very mediocre mid game, but hard to tell because the representation also sucked badly.
Some of Kt racing developers have gone on strike for better working conditions. I hope they get everything they want and it produces an amazing game!

If you're making an open world racing game you need to focus on making traffic, no point bombing around and seeing 5 civilian cars, especially somewhere like Hong Kong, it should be absolutely bustling, like a no hesi server.

If you do not add houses that you can buy, with customisable interiors and a garage, then I’m sorry but you’ve completely failed to capture what test drive is about. No amount of corporate bullshit speak and heads of departments telling us what they think we want will work. HOUSES, GARAGES, DEALERSHIPS any of those missing you’re failures.

TDU is more than a forza, test drive is a Glaumour Life Simulator Too, and the best thing is that you are a car collector, I missed it!

TDU1 and 2 were great games, but part of what made them great is they were innovative and existed in a world with less racing game competition.. The problem this game has is that Forza Horizon exists and is excellent and is also basically free on Game Pass. I didnt see anything here in this presentation that i cant already do in Forza Horizon
Different location and denser cities for example, plus having the ability to control your character in hubs
Let's be real, tdu2 really wasn't that good
While it's a similar game, the ability to walk around, buy houses, go to dealerships, etc could make the game fantastic. But for me it all depends on the physics whether it's Forza quality which feels decent or the crew which feels absolutely horrible and makes me want to put the controller down.

Driving through trees and other things without damage remembers me of horizon and im already disappointed what i saw.
Remember guys, TDU2 came out in 2011. This is going out in 2024, 13 years later, and i see no improvement appart from visuals, and gameplay-wise is clearly a step back.
The visuals havent improved either, same old terrible motion blur/DoF from the 360 days at 30fps.
