  • "Europa (Earth's Cry Heaven's Smile)" is an instrumental from the Santana album Amigos, written by Carlos Santana and Tom Coster. It is one of Santana's most popular compositions and it reached the top in the Spanish Singles Chart in July 1976.
One rendition of the song was performed by the late Argentine jazz tenor saxophonist, Gato Barbieri, from his 1976 album Caliente! The album was produced by the great Herb Alpert.
*This version of the song was played heavily on 103.7 KVIL-Dallas in the 1990s on Valier Smith's top-rated show, "Love Songs at Night". It was also featured on the station I worked for in 2000 and again from 2004-2008, Majic 95.5 in Austin. Former KVIL assistant program director and my boss, Alex O'Neal, became the program director of Majic. We typically played it as an intro to our own love songs feature in the evening, then later used before Delilah aired on the station.
