There is a really great video about preparing every shellfish which shows how to efficiently pick a lobster both before and after cooking Fun fact: you can use a big knife to cut through the head of the lobster which will not disturb any meat and will kill it very quickly! That way you can cook it without fear that it is feeling pain during the steaming/boiling process

I live in Maine and whenever I have lobsters, I always boiled them. This method also looks interesting. It seems like the tail comes off easier this way. The way I do it, it always has a bit of resistance.
Hope your a person that dispatches them instantly before cooking them, takes literally less than a second and doesn’t change anything besides keeping them from suffering while being boiled or steamed alive .

It cuts off its nervous system and the set of nerves with is basically it’s brain. This way it’s dead almost instantly and won’t feel any pain during the boil/steam.
Jacob!! The body meat is the second best part next to the knuckles!! It’s the lobster equivalent to lump crab! And even if it’s a chick, you have to take a rolling pin to the legs! The leg meat is close to knuckle meat in sweetness and texture. And you can get a nice little pearl at the joint where it meets the body. And then you have to boil the body and all the shells to make stock for lobster stew!

When I was about this boy's age, my father and I bought some pet birds from some weekend bazaar When we got home, I was excited and wanted to hold them, and looked to my father for guidance, hoping he'd show me how Instead he told me to go ahead and just pick a bird up So I did that, but to the shock of my young little self, the bird started clawing and pecking at my hand I panicked, let go of the bird, and watched in dismay as it flew away I looked to him for support, but all he showed me was disappointment and annoyance, and in that moment it made me feel really small and like a total failure I have since developed an aversion to trying to do something unless I 100% know how it works, because I now associate personal mistakes with the same stinging sense of failure and disappointment He's been dead for almost 30 years now, and I've gone through most of my adult life till this day being super critical of myself whenever I make even the smallest of innocent mistakes

Born and raised in Massachusettes their ain’t nothing like a fresh Maine lobster! For the longest time we’d go every week to York or Ogunquit to a couple friends who catch lobsters and bring home some good eats!
as a Maryland native I definitely got some looks from the people in Maine who watched me completely strip the lobster's body of it's meat. it's a lot of meat on the body of a decently sized lobster!
I used to buy just the bodies from the Wells Lobster Pound for years. I would get 5 or 6 dozen (at 5 or 10 cents each) and make the best kickass lobster stew. I would put a movie on and sit and pick for 2-3 hours. Miss those days.
My grandfather lives about an hour from Bangor, grew up out there, he'd be flabbergasted by lack of love for the body meat. He always pulls them apart and eats every bit he can find. Plus the green stuff I'm blanking on the name of

you can put them in the freezer for 30 minutes before boiling, and skip the messy knife
It’s also extremely debatable if boiling them directly is wrong… you are dealing with a giant bug, and you don’t care how you kill bugs do you?

I love lobster and crab "mustard." It's mushy and a bit lower quality then claw and tail meat, but has its own savory flavor. Like a paté.
