Interesting concept but as a keeper he's standing in the wrong position to collect a runout. He's got to be standing behind the stumps not in front of them
Not necessarily. A study was done and it turns out that if you stand in front of the stumps, you're quicker to break the bails than if you stand behind. So if he has a good technique, he might as well stand in front.
Surprising but I believe you. Surprising because if you're in front of the stumps, you then have to pivot to break the stumps. That's why behind the stumps or side-on doesn't require you to move your waist, just your hands.
@benjaminfigdor5064 You pivot, you stand in front and slightly to the side so that tou can swing your arm along your side and round your thigh/knee to break the stumps, using the ball's momentum. It's difficult but quicker than standing behind the stumps.
If you have quick hands (like me) it doesnt really matter. Its kinda situational
A lot of pro keepers have switched over to the In front position. Seemingly to catch the ball and have more accurate stumpings than a missed direct hit the the keeper has to gather and get back to the stumps
