Didn’t expect this review so soon. Great job fellas. Ordered this lens a week ago. Will park this sweet lens next to my 90-280. Fully expect Leica to start rounding out its lens lineup. Please give us a 135mm f2.
Just taken delivery of this 100-400 lens, I am stunned at the quality of it. It’s heavy but it’s worth it, I need a longer reach than 280 and wasn’t prepared to spend the British pounds on the 90-280…
Since Mr. Farkas mentioned the Visoflex III and lenses. If either of you ever comes to Finland, I'm more than glad to loan my Visoflex lenses for testing. I have a 400mm f/5, 280mm f/4.8, and 200mm f/4 Leica Telyt lenses.
You guys are really stepping up your Rolex Game! How do you manage to get your choice of whatever you want? Black Daytona, ? New green Submariner, ? New Pepsi GMT!?!
It sucks you guys wont have an episode for the upcoming M11 Monochrom and 50mm Summilux-M ASPH v2 that’s coming out on Thursday, I always love when you guys do a video for stuff shortly after launch.
To be a fair comparison between new SL lenses and old R lenses, the R lenses should be stopped down at least one stop. For example, the test on R 180 2.8 apo lens should be done at f4.0, it is quite noticeable better than at f3.4. Thanks for great video as usual.
To be really fair, it would have been great to see you compare to the 180mm APO Summicron-R f2 or the 70-180 f2.8 (also APO) which are both fantastic (and super heavy). Great video as usual, thanks for doing this.
@@fbonde 100%, if you already have the 90-280 and you want something with more reach pick up the sigma 150-600 (or the weirder 60-600 with the significantly faster focus motors).
Great video as always, for amateur/ hobbyist, it will be nice if someone can please guide to an honest scientific review like this one with Panasonic 70-200 f2.8 which of course can be used with 2x teleconverter esp for low light conditions.
I just swapped this Panasonic 70-200 f2.8 for the Leica 100-400. The P was too heavy and thus rarely left my bag. I wanted the 400mm native rather than with an extender, at less weight. I'll use primarily outdoors for wildlife and landscapes, so the reduced f-stop range will not be an issue when paired with my SL2 with a larger sensor.
100-400mm removable lens foot appears to be available as a replacement part in Europe at least; details - Art No 475-100.801-024, Descr Stativfuss. On request from Leica Customer Care.
i understand that they put a bit of the leica magic into the mix, but if you’re going to buy a lens coming out of the sigma factory you should do yourself (and your wallet) a favor and buy the 150-600.

Looks like a Tudor GMT
Tudor gmt lol still a great watch though
Why do your newer videos not show on the video tab on your channel??? The newest video is 2-4 years old!
Because they are livestreams, that are in "Live" section.

long lenses on TL2?
Where are all those car shows Josh mentions happening all the time?
Leica should come out with a SL 85mm1.4 dg dn
The SL 90mm f/2 is an amazing lens.
i'd be interested in seeing how this 100-400 compares with Sigma's 150-600
But sigma makes a 100-400 so perhaps a better comparison?
Is it made in Germany or Portugal? Thanks for a great show.
it’s made in japan, strongly implying that it’s a tweaked and rebadged sigma.
@@NickBiddle82 Thanks; I'll be keeping the 90-280.

Sigma lens?
Sony sensor and now sigma lens 😢
Would be cool to have but I'm not spending thousands for an Asian made lens
