I’m so glad I found this video since I’m about to attempt this pattern, but I wasn’t about to pay $10 for a strap set as opposed to wrapping elastic in the fabric like you did. Thanks!
thank you so much Ive been trying to find videos on how to sew because Im a 11 years old and im trying to make a sports bra for dance and this help so much! Is there a way you can make a video to make a like a lululemon type of sportbra. so its tight! But other then that thank you so much!
Hi! Thank you so much for this tutorial!! And sharing the free pattern. YOU ARE A LIFESAVER bc I need to sew a dance costume in a matter of days. However I have a quick question: How do you serge with elastic? Do u use a special foot?
No problem at all! :) I don't use a special foot personally, but there are feet meant for elastic that you can use. I just line the elastic up with the edge of my fabric and Serge it on as I go.
I use Janome machines. Specifically the Janome Skyline S7 and the Janome 4DX serger. The skyline is quite expensive and definitely isn't necessary for sewing stretch fabrics. You really only need a machine that is a workhorse and has a zig zag stitch with adjustable length and widths. If you want a solid Janome that's a great starting machine the HD3000 is great and will sew almost anything. I started sewing costumes with a mid range Janome. Pfaff and Juki are good options from what I know (just based on research I've never used them myself) but apparently the Juki hzl f300 or Pfaff select 3.2 are great options as well 😊
Great tutorial! Just some question, what kind of stitch did you use to fold the elastic in place? Is it a straight stitch or a little zigzag? If you choose a straight stitch, doesn't the fabric lose the elasticity? Why in this case did you not use the lining as in the previous videos?
Thank you! I mentioned in the video but I used a triple stitch 😊 it looks like a straight stitch but it's actually a very strong stretch stitch. I did use lining but I just skipped over that part in this tutorial because you don't necessarily need to use lining if you prefer to use this as an everyday bralette instead of a sports bra or if your fabric isn't as transparent as the one I used.

❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
As a trans boy this helps with sleep overs because I can’t wear a binder to sleep
Which fabric have you used? Can you name it please??
What kinda fabric did you use?
Nevermind... I watched it again. (Spandex) 😁
i just tried to sew this sort of bralette without a pattern and it went so terribly hahaha
You can take the pattern from a tshirt that you already own and like and play from there ✂️📍

@@scarletandstitch thank you, I never used it, good to know, I'll give it a try!
@@scarletandstitch do all sewing machines provide that?
Could you please write the mode of sewing machine and a serger that you are using
My machine is the Janome Skyline S7 and my serger is the Janome Pro 4DX
I've used this pattern for pole tops but it nip slips like crazy lmao.
