I get it's not really Nolan's song... but damn this is like a medicore cover. Mark O'Connell killing it like always though. Just watched Fred's latest playthrough of this song and wanted to see how they play it now lol
What's crazy is the age gap too, Adam at worst is 40, Freds about to years from 50! And Fred managed to keep in better shape musically than almost any member of the band. Adam lost his voice, Johns is struggling, they pushed out the best bassist they ever had, Eddie isn't there, its not far from saying that the band is dying with a lack of present talent
Leo flame Shaun Cooper isn’t a bad bassist and his parts on TAYF are pretty interesting. He does Rubano’s parts pretty faithfully too! Would have to agree that Rubano > Cooper at the end of the day though
@@walkawaysmike Shaun Cooper isn't bad, but Matt Rubano brought on more interesting bass parts, well, maybe because he wasn't a rock bassist in the first place.
You know when in a dream you’re trying to run but can’t really move? I bet that’s how Adam feels trying to sing like he used to. It’s physically impossible for him and that must be so impossibly frustrating.
Yeah, absolutely could be frustrating, but I dont think people at the show were overly concerned with how in tune Adam was with his vocals. This 20 year anniversary tour was more about those nostalgic feels and they were definitely present. But I will say that when I seen TBS 20 years ago during their Tell All Your Friends tour, Adam did sound much better during the few parts he actually sang (his mic swinging was over the top) but those times are gone and this is Adam now and he still rocks.
I'm sure it's hard as fck to belt it out with your voicebox year after year. Seems like all vocalists that push the limits just lose it after some time, understandably. As for John, Fred really makes him look bad. I'm sure John is very talented, but in this vid he just seems to be really lazy with his guitar playing and singing. I'm sure it's tough to shred your voice night after night on tour. That being said, I also just came from watching Fred's playthrough of it, and there's a major difference. Hard to ever touch the "Fred" era of TBS.
i think they need to try lowering to D-standard tuning for some of these older songs. poor adam is wrecking his voice trying to sing like he used to and i only say this bc i want him to save his voice and not lose it completely
There are a couple differences between Fred's playthrough and this: Fred recorded in his studio, this in on a phone. Fred had the chance to play it over and over before he published the video. This is they only take TBS got. Fred only worked on that song for his video. This is in the middle of a set, in the middle of a tour for TBS. I like Fred's video more too, but there is some context here.
Yeah, all good points. This just another run of the mill live video captured on a cell. It really has no place being compared to anything that's been professionally done
Well, Fred only took weeks or months to play John's parts in songs from TAYF. John's been back since 2010. He's basically been 10 years covering the same set of songs.
Agreed and adams parts higher and he doesn’t usually sing that high anymore he’s more disciplined with his notes now but fried his voice , and yeah irk what happend with John he actually used to be pretty solid life
I hope Nolan watches Fred’s video so he can play it properly, but he plays all of Fred’s songs haphazardly or sings them without effort, so hello mediocre covers of your own songs TBS.
Adam actually is better now with notes but he can’t sing these notes no more it’s harder for people to sing how high he used to sing that especially at his age if you see lower sung songs he sounds solid , I just think they might need to retire this one live no shame in it.
Embarrassingly bad. Makes me sad the days of Adam hitting those notes are gone. John has no business trying to sing Fred's parts. It ain't happening. Here and there some of the newer songs are good though. They just can't do these live vocals anymore.
So all of us came from Fred's playthrough video and compared this performance with that? 😂
Lol took me a few comments to realize what was up
Yep haha
HAHAHA YESS

Oh god i would have attended a concert just to see their drummer Mark, he is amazing. But the band's voices... They are so bad...

Lol I just came from Fred’s play through video and I think we can all confirm that this is indeed Fred’s song.
I think they should take Fred back as second guitarist
That would make my day
John does his parts, Fred does his
So if Nolan isn’t doing the harmonic parts... who is? They playing to a track?
they have another guy playing the second guitar parts
Adam's voice is destroyed here :/ he needs to take care of his voice
They absolutely need to tune down for Adam.
They’re already a half step down….

You can tell how unhealthy their voices got from the mid 2000’s
Good lord. Adams voice is awful lmao. Fred made this band so much more cohesive

i love this song, but this sucks
