I weigh 216 and have lost 50 pounds. I am starting plant based today November 30. I am 66 and have had injections of cartilage oil a knee. now I am afraid to exercise. I want to do walking dads of Leslie Sansone but I am out of shape. no other pains just arthritis in knees which will get better with weight loss. I am 5'5 1/2
Congrats on your weight-loss! Definitely recommend seeing a non-surgical orthopedist, or a physiatrist or physical therapist to give you some advice on what exercises to do. You can definitely do exercise but especially get recommendation from a specialist. Don’t see a surgeon, they will only recommend surgery LOL.. Good luck!!
I have heard that when water fasting, the body will burn through the visceral fat first, and after that is gone, it will burn through subcutaneous fat. So if you are concerned about the dangerous visceral fat, try water fasting!
I'm participating in a research study at TrueNorth health center right now. The study is documenting just that, but also that during refeeding with a WFPB diet, the body continues to loose visceral fat preferentially. The weight that is gained during a proper refeed is hydration, glycogen stores, and fiber. I may not have all the details exact, but I'm pretty close. :}
@@beckyjohnson2514 Excited for you! Did you get your Dexa progress scans? I would like to go there too. Do you think they still take clients onsite during the pandemic?
I really want to become thin but I have such a difficult time with flour and sugar (bread, dates/dried fruit, jam, and things like that) what are your suggestions? I live by myself so I can and do keep a clean environment the majority of the time but sometimes I become weak and give in which leads me down a spiral that can take weeks to get up from. How can I think about this? I've thought about the companies and how I don't want to support them but it doesn't help for the dried fruits and things like that. Any suggestions are welcome.
I was 125kg then 92kg after a Gastric Sleeve at forty. Ten years later and I’m back up to 117kg. I’m wondering do we have an internal barometer that thinks overweight is optimal? During weight loss, are fat cells shed or released into the bloodstream then split into Co2 and water? Will all the fat entering the bloodstream during fat loss, does it have the same effect on insulin resistance as demonstrated by Dr. Nick Delgado when he drank a cup of olive oil and shared live blood samples of his blood cells sticking together?
SMH when I heard AJ say she had given up on working in the field of weight loss due to recidivism. People who are passionate about this work PLEASED do not give up on us. Do not leave us and move on to another revenue stream.
I'm really confused about the common comment that older people are protected by having a higher BMI. What is the rational for this? Wouldn't it be healthy to maintain a say BMI of 22 give or take a few tenths, for a lifetime?
It seems that older people who become ill tend to lose weight in their later months. That is where the statistic comes from, not comparing different weights in the healthy population with their longevity.
I started this WFPB journey after watching Chef AJs "Truth About Weight Loss" summit in 2019--- changed my life!
keeping kids, teens and people in their 20.s from loosing control, b/c you chase it the rest of your life. Isn't that the truth!!

Probably best to get checked out by a dr. regarding exercise. Losing weight does take pressure off the knee joints.

Am I the only Soul in Christendom who hates water fasting? Never gets mental clarity and just wants it to end? 😳

I wonder if the numbers for waist measurement to hip ratio are compensated for high waist folks who typically have narrow hips...?
I wonder the same thing!
It’s like the world is on fire and you try to stamp out a few hot spots. A sad situation we’re in and it’s only going to get worse.
You look way too young to live in a senior community AJ.
Someone has a “purple nose”.
