For black panther (spoiler alert) - When the villain was dying.. he said the same thing that Padmavati said - 'Rather than becoming a slave, I would rather die' which eventually talked about self respect and choice. Same happened with Jauhar...wondering outrage is limited to Hindi cinema on such practice or thought process. When we say villain came from progressive mindset he chose death over a fight or may be a life later that could be a struggle but yet could have been a winning point. Just my thoughts :) The comparison sounds vague but was in similar zone. :)

    • @NileshKumar-nr2vj
      @NileshKumar-nr2vj 3 года назад

Replying to a comment 3 years old. But anyway, the thing about Jauhar is completely different. Its about keeping up the Rajput pride. Her and other's contribution as Rajput female warriors is to burn themselves alive rather than getting sexually assaulted. The poem is very old, when women sexual pride was extremely sacred. The movie ends with the credit that "this was the biggest win for Chhitdaud". So it seen as a win. But its not a win, it something very tragic, but the Bhansali doesn't treats it like that, instead he glorifies it. Imagine, glorifying Sati in today's times. That a woman's life beyond a husband is nothing and people would see them with lust, so they burn themselves alive for the pride. And imagine glorifying it on the screen like Bhansali did with his epic choice of music in the end...
Other thing that is more important is, this jauhar thing is not woman's choice, it's as much a choice as Sati, or wearing Burkha... Many women say wearing Burkha is their choice... I don't agree... It's just within the patriarchal society that we live in... To rationalize let's say, why don't Muslim men wear Burkha, if it's a choice ???

Neeraj Pandey is an overrated filmmaker! Yes, he has made some good movies in the past, but they were good because of the decent stories and great performances. But purely judging him as a moviemaker, he is well below the mark. Things like background score, CGI (remember the atrocious young Sushant in Dhoni), posters, branding, makeup (Sidharth's bad guises in Aiyaary), editing, cinematography etc. in his movies is mediocre at best. Everything seems hastily done without any attention to detail.

Girl hacks and account and shops and its cliche and derogatory but if we see around in films male hackers are either gamers or porn addicts always ....but the point is that is it really necessary for a girl to hate or be disinterested in shopping to be a hacker and same for boys regarding gaming...we need to stop judging everything that looks girly in the slight bit...some things are called girly just because majority of girls like those activities and shopping is one of them...i know from my experience with my wife, mother aunts sisters and friends...and majority are working women with lots of other interests like writing, singing, guitar playing ,dancing, playing cricket but still they all love shopping!!!!!
And by all means aiyaary is a bad film overall but it hurts to see intellectual people like you guys pass judgement on such things...trash the story and director , even siddharth malhotra who is working hard to be the next rahul roy , vivek mushran , kumar gaurav but not such a inconsequential thing to rate the movie....loved your other points and rest of the review

Personally, I think that Black panther is a pretty average movie, it's not great in any way. Although, I agree that it's action is really epic and fun, but the movie doesn't show any thing that is closer to cooglers style. It didn't take any great risks and I don't think that the second half was half as good as the first half.
    IRON MAN IS STILL BETTER.

ishan bajpai Woah....and most people think it gets better after the first half... I didn't think it was epic because of "cool action"....it won't even be remembered for it. It is something else, something different. Lots of things. But that, if you mature and realise. Killmonger killed it, the racial, social and political commentary was subtle and beautiful, the supporting actors were awesome, the themes of this film were exceptionally handled, and last but not the least, its music was so goooood. Didn't shy away from using classical African songs. It depicted African culture in such an unbiased and beautiful way. These things are above the head of the usual cinemagoer, though.....
P.S - I too think Iron Man was better, but both are practically on the same level for me.....

I don't really know why you and the supposed " MOST PEOPLE" think that it gets better after the first half, but I have my real reasons for how I think, I know what something different you are referring to and to me that is surface level stuff for such a movie. No one needs to be actually mature to know it. The media shoves it to your face anyway about how a movie about a pretend nation is important for Africans and other shit related to that. IT'S REALLY NOT THAT BIG DEAL FOR ANYONE.
I am not trying to be harsh but it's true, the movie didn't feel organic, the gadgets that were shown were interesting and fun but many of the other things in Wakanda didn't feel organic even for a comic book movie. Any movie can do political commentary and many of them do better commentary than this one, For a comic book movie it was taking itself too seriously, the Marvel movies are fun because they know that they are comic book movies, I liked the depiction and respect for the African culture and the soundtrack was fresh too. The problems I mentioned remained, the ideas that were shown in the movie were not fulfilled, it was just like a mention and nothing else,
RAYN COOGLER HAS A STYLE OF FILMMAKING LIKE THE HANDHELD CAMERA OR THE FIGHTS WHICH ARE MORE ORGANIC AND LESS C.G.I, BUT THE STUDIO DIDN'T LET HIM DO THAT, INSTEAD, THERE WERE A GROUP PEOPLE MAKING UNREAL SHEILDS OUT OF A SHAWL, BUT WHAT DOES A USUAL CINEMAGOER LIKE ME KNOWS, RIGHT.
THE BEST PART IS THAT THERE ARE A BUNCH OF RICH PEOPLE AT DISNEY LAUGHING THEIR ASSESS OF AT PEOPLE WHO THINK THAT THIS MOVIE IS SOCIALLY IMPORTANT BECAUSE IT SHOW THAT THEIR IS A FICTIONAL COUNTRY IN AFRIKA WHICH IS SO RICH AND ADVANCED THAT IT'S KING CAN ROAM AROUND IN THE SUIT OF A BLACK PANTHER.
P.S.- BUT, I WILL SAY THAT THE LAST SECOND END CREDIT OF BLACK PANTHER WAS ACTUALLY GREAT.

Firstly, this is going to be a long post. So, if you have some time, please bear with me.Mrs Chopra, while I agree with some of the comments that Rahul and you make, what is Sucharita upto? I come to your channel for some serious movie discussions. Why is Sucharita trying to make it a stand up show. I could have still handled it only if she was any good at it. This feels like you are sitting with a flunky (only she is not called Roger). In my opinion, the Shape of Water is a hugely relevant film, especially in today's mileau (intolerance, et al)

Do you guys can ever make a movie? It's too easy to to be biased by western movies after reading their movie reviews and all(e.g. shape of water because we already already knew that it was nominated and all). I myself like Hollywood movies. But reviewing and dissecting our movies when you guys are not good for anything (except Anupama who has written and closely associated with bollywood projects). Common get a life and do something on your own rather than criticizing

Difficult to understand whether these guys are trying to review films or highlighting mistakes and making fun of films.
Maybe aiyaary is not a good film.
But neeraj pandey has 3 8+IMDb rated films out of 5 films . and 4 have been successful and critically acclaimed .

that doesn't give him the privilege to receive criticism over a movie which he made and it turned out to be bad. Lots of respect to Neerej Pandey but aiyaary kharaab hai.

mohd anas Qureshi not saying it wasnt bad but i agree with the comment above that these people more than reviewing a movie start talking about why this movie is bad n why i dont like this movie.

The whole point of the movie is to empathize a little with Killmonger; That's why the villain resonates with so many people in this film; His rage against the "colonizers" is reflected in many marginalized communities. Its this emotion and perspective in the film that elevates Black Panther to one of the best Superhero films.
