I kinda wanna get to that gym in North Korea because I know other people couldn't take over the gym. I could use a GPS spoofing tool, but I'm afraid that their government would find out or something and they'd think I actually got through the border or I actually had internet access there and they'd track me down and kill me.

If we look at the main series games, Gyms always have some kind of challenge or puzzle to solve before you reach the Leader. These are the real-life counter parts... the only problem is you only have 1 life and no save file to load. XD

All the locations come from Niantic's previous game Ingress, for which they accepted pretty much any user submissions they got. I'm pretty sure they didn't do much weeding stuff out. And I don't know when it started but that may account for the stops in Fukushima if Ingress predated the earthquake. People in here blaming Nintendo and even the nation of Japan but they should really put it on Niantic and their quality control (as well as human stupidity, because if someone is stupid enough not to look where they're going and they walk off a cliff, that's not the fault of anyone but themselves).
They have a very small staff and a very large userbase. Currently Ingress submissions [new/remove/edit] are backlogged by about 6 months, last I heard. Niantic lacks the capacity to handle what they've gotten into, and really ought to hire on some more portal/stop QA folks.

But I just heard some rumors of a gym and a lure that supposedly are in some bad territory in LA. Don't take my word for it though. Hence why I put *rumors* because that is what they are. But anyways, great list of gyms here. I'd like to visit the one in San Diego. :3
There was a case where people were putting lures on a pokestop and when people went to the pokestop to catch pokemon with the lure they got mugged by the people who put it there :p But they got caught by the police
