I wondered why they would remake Steven Spielberg's The Color Purple (one of the greatest films ever made) - and then saw that he is a producer of this second version. It looks like it will be more of a musical, but it will be hard to beat the original. We'll see.

It's not a remake. It's an adaptation of the Broadway musical, which is more faithful to the original book than the movie
