It not only sounds like a sarangi, but the style it is played makes it sound just like a vocalist. I am very happy to hear such a sweet and melodious tune being played by a great sarangi maestro. मैं एक ऐसे महान व्यक्ति को सुनने का आनंद लिया, यह आँसू के साथ मेरे दिल भर गया है Incase you cannot read hindi: Maiṁ ēka aisē mahāna vyakti kō sunanē kā ānanda liyā, yaha ām̐sū kē sātha mērē dila bhara gayā hai It means: I enjoyed listening to such a great person, it has filled my heart with tears
This is not the style of music that I grew up with, not what I am used to listen to and not what I like most.... and surely not what I play on my accordion. During the last month I did lots of research on near- and far eastern music (original instruments, rhythms, styles, history...) and finally came to this here. I like to hear this style from time to time as a contrast. Another commentor said already: magic and true music, moving, captivating - I have to add: honest and pure music.
Though I'm not aware of the pure technicalities of the ragas, yet when I heard this great musical display of Raga Malsri-Sarangi by Ustad Hussain Baksh Amritsari, I felt compelled hearing it again and again.Such is the force, the magic of music. This is, in my opinion, the True Music, that moves us, captivates us, that we truly appreciate ...and therefore one must not wish first to understand and then to feel a true music!! Great upload! Thanks!
Excellent ! A very unique approach indeed. Will have to see/ hear more of the Ustaad. Was amazed at the sheer depth of the performance. The performance though short has everything that an elaborate presentation has. Its like a protein bar for those that are hungry for nothing but the best. Thanks for uploading
To pidborch. Thank you so much for your message. I have been listening to the tracks that you named, and you are so right; this is extraordinary music. I am am a simple novice at this type of music. My favorite sitar player is Nikhil Bannerjee. I don't know much besides him, Ravi Shankar and Ali Akbar Khan. I like this track and the others you named very much. Thank you for thinking of me and helping me in my quest. Many blessings to you and those whom you love. Namaste. Mark- goodcatholicboy.
This is great! Never have I heard such a unique style of playing. So inventive. All I can say is wow this is great -- Amazing, thanks for sharing this masterpiece!
Wonderful performance - but, by the standards of Indian classical music, ridiculously short. I would love to hear a 70+ min. rendering of a raga by this man. :)
