Desmond Bong Raise your leg on any picnic table that you see in the park, that should be the beginning level. The supporting leg should be erect. Bend forward at the hip, without curving your back, n try hard to reach n touch the toes with your fingers. This is static stretching of your leg. As times go by, raise your leg higher n higher on a fence, on a pole.... But if you are a middle age person, extremely rare you will able to raise your leg high n extended, kicking high requires hip power... I practice in the swimming pool... doing the kicking against the power from the water.... tiring but gets stronger. Good luck. Commit yourself to such hard exercise....
Slow motion high "kick" and fast motion high kick are two different leg/kick execution. The slow high kick is usually seen in competition. The slow motion high kick is difficult and requires hard exercises as described above by Geblek Eloe Deh in addition to "dantian" breathing exercise. The fast motion high kick can be easily achieved with regularly stretching and medium hard exercises by middle aged practitioners.
