You might be right! As a comparison on a United flight from CHC to SFO they started with a snack & drink, then the main meal service, then mid-flight a small filled roll, and finally a breakfast service not long before landing. On the other hand I don't think there was self service snack/drinks bar but I could be wrong.
Its a shocker. I can't imagine a poorer or more stingy amount of food on a 15 hour flight!!!! FFS how are they getting away with this? No salad with dinner service and a ridiculous icecream dessert suitable for a 6 year old...... then 12 hours before being served a small plate of diced fruit and a $3 tub of yoghurt. This is good to know and it makes sense to bring your own supplies.... wait a minute.. I will not subject myself to this misery. I remember boarding a Qantas flight in LA at midnight destined for Melbourne and being told that breakfast will be served in 10 hours..... never TF again!!!!!!!
it honestly wasnt that bad, i flew it mid last year and what the video didnt show was the hot snack box they came around with mid flight which where there was two choices, cant remember exactly what it was but i got the chorizo pizza and it was pretty good. but overall the amout of food they served was pretty good for me
@@neilmurphy7554 when i went in july last year they also serve two types of hot snack/meals mid flight too so thats two main meals plus a large snack, i got the pizza slice which was pretty big for a snack, so you dont need to wait that long, plus you can ask for those at anytime too, so you didnt have to wait for that service to come around
The other food option for the second meal was a continental breakfast which was definitely standard portion size. I only picked the fruit out of curiosity haha
they do provide more food midflight that they dint show in the video, (they where probably asleep), plus the fruit plate was only one of the options for the breakfast so there was more to choose
been on an air nz flight from san francisco to auckland and it was an evening flight, only served two meal service with one after take off and another before landing. Such a shame on a 12 hr and 30 minute flight unlike united airlines which was an afternoon flight with serving lunch, dinner, and breakfast while serving more snacks mid flight
@@kol_72 I don't think there are any flights in the world which have 3 full meal services on a single flight (Although on Singapore Airlines from New York to Singapore you apparently get 2 full meals and 1 lighter meal.)
Very poor catering portions for an ULH flight. It would be interesting to know what PE and Business were fed. I think cabin crew dim the windows and lighting to stop passengers moving around and wanting more food and drink and so they can get their rest in.
@ unfortunately no matter how you spin it a tray-less economy class meal on a full service price screams cost cutting no matter what. Combine that with no appetisers, no proper desserts (cakes etc, not packaged ice cream) or not more than one hot option for breakfast (the fruit plate option is no other than cost cutting disguised in “pretending to offer you a healthier choice”). The only other trayless economy meal is with Finnair and we all know how cheap they are. I’m just saying with the full prices they charge the meals look very stingy and cheap.
@@UKabroad1967 no you are absolutley right, i remember flying qantas ages ago when they had tray meals and it was so much better, just another victim of allan joyce's cost cutting, hopefully they can improve it.
its a fifth freedom route QF3 flies from Sydney then to auckland then to NY i think they said its a tester to see what demand will be like when they start to fly direct from SYD to new york
@Ghdhdhdh.. yes it will be, exept it will be similar to how singapore have got their a350-900 ULRs but instead for qantas it will be a specialised a350 1000 URL with extra fuel tanks i beleive, and instead they will have four classes, first, biz, premium eco, and eco
Congrats for pretty much being the first to properly cover this route on YT. I've waited so long for this.
2:11 dude flexing in his pyjamas before takeoff just to let everyone know he’s in business class to NY 😂
Good video too 🙂👍
Well done to u for seating for 15 hours wow wow . Thanks for sharing, hope your flight went great
Very much used to it by now 😆
wow very smooth take off and landing
Qantas would win the award for the poorest amount of food served on long haul flights !

Awesome video
Nicely done mate 👌 Thanks for sharing
Cheers, it reminded me of my flight LHR - JFK with Laker back in 1980 something. NYC is still the most exciting city I have been to. Thanks Oryz
Great report, thank you!
Been on that flight to!❤🎉
great video man, flew this flight from aus connecting through NZ last year and it was great, sure beats conecting though LAX
AWESOME MATE!!!
Excellent trip report thanks! The USB charging ports are in a sensible & convenient location.😀
Not enough food for such a long flight.

2nd meal its a fruit plate. 🙈 Windows dimming don't get totally dark.
What an awesome route. Is there much competition for that route? There wasn't much food for such a long flight, though.
Qantas and Air New Zealand operate this route, though QF flies more frequently.
Hard or smooth landing?
Neither hard or smooth
you should do business class

was there wifi on this flight?
Not on the current 787s but will come equipped with the new deliveries.
@ crazy how a modern qantas 787 doesn’t not have wifi
Hi sir
are you looking for a professional youtube thumbnail designer ?
please let me know
thanks
Food on Qantas economy always looks so sad, not even a tray, no appetiser, no proper dessert and Only fruit plate for the second meal?
they have multiple options for the second meal, the fruit was what they chose to get, plus there is also a midflight snack/meal that they didn't show

Sounds like if Qantas want to attract more fatass Americans they'd better serve loads more food!
Why do we need to see a tour of the lavatory.....??????
Why is an Australian carrier flying that route instead of Air New Zealand ?
Air NZ also flies this route

@Revilok08 Thank you.
@Revilok08 when they start flying direct to new york in 2026/2027, they will fly on the new airbus a350-1000 right?
@Ghdhdhdh.. yes it will be, exept it will be similar to how singapore have got their a350-900 ULRs but instead for qantas it will be a specialised a350 1000 URL with extra fuel tanks i beleive, and instead they will have four classes, first, biz, premium eco, and eco
How can qantas be operating direct flights between Auckland and New York ?
Qantas also used to operate direct flights from Auckland to Los Angeles
They have the right - it's called a fifth freedom flight.
QF3 originates in Sydney and stops in Auckland to refuel, I guess Qantas has fifth-freedom rights.
Economy review. 🙄🥱
