Women don't always delay having a baby because of career sometimes it's because they can't find a partner. These days finding a partner is very hard.
Also egg freezing is not an insurance policy. The success rate of the egg fertilising is low.

As someone who had her daughter at 28 and my son now at 33 who are 4 yrs and 4 months old. It is absolutely a financial aspect, we are comfortable and in good professional careers in the city - still incredibly difficult and ridiculously expensive

It would be interesting if this show had a person on who represents every day people. Just pick someone from the audience each day to sit on the panel for a discussion. Get the views of ordinary people. Not high end earners or celebs etc…….

Absolutely! Such vast and often serious discussions can’t be condensed into a 5 minute chat with 4 very privileged panellists making the subject matter seem rather trivial. Their comments are rarely made about anyone but themselves anyway!

I was born in 1971 and the 70s where the best time to grow up. I know I'm seeing things through rose tinted glasses but it was so innocent back then

I had my son when I was 18 in 2015. He's 9 now. I have always wanted to have another. But I am genuinely going back and forth because of the state of the world. My husband was in the army. Left and was an electrician but was made redundant. He worked with his brothers company but left because of stress and how painful the job was on his body. Then he got great job to only be made redundant after a year and a half. I was a nursery teacher making minimum wage. Then I was teaching English online to lose that job during COVID. To then work at a Chinese just above minimum wage. Sometimes working for my brother on laws company and now working a great job but the company is currently having redundancy but I've been told my job is safe. But honestly it can be really tough. Then also maybe struggling at the end of the month when you haven't really made any big purchases or over spent... How can we add to our load already

I want to add that if I was to have a baby id more than likely have to quit my job because there is zero local childcare where I live. There is 1 baby sitter who is fully booked. There is no way I can go back to work

Culturally, it’s become too easy for men not to step up and play their role. The burden in these discussions always falls on women but the reality is that it takes two to have a baby and two people to sustain a family. The dating world is so messed up and if you look around with enough scrutiny, majority of married couples are not happy because infidelity and mistrust is absolutely rife everywhere. The saying that you need to be careful who you have kids with has never been truer than it is today. If anything these numbers are a reflection of how broken relationships and marriage have become.

There is never a better time to have a baby. I am more financially stable now but my daughter is 19 and I don't regret having her young and I actually think physically is better, I honestly couldn't fathom having a baby now. They require too much energy and worry! Good luck to parents now though, so much respect you have courage to raise children at times like these!

Obviously it's all about meeting the right person which isn't always going to happen. Robbie Williams wife comes across well and she talks sense. Time to scrap the "geriatric mum" phrase,it's very insulting

Why would anyone want to become a parent in todays world. The cost of living is through the roof, even with 2 incomes people are struggling. Unless you are lucky enough to have a loving family to help you out parents don't receive any help with their kids so you never get a break.

The economy plays a huge role, the U.K. makes it so hard for parents working or not in terms of affordability and quality of life. So many question becoming parents because of this.

What about the men who aren't stepping up?
What about the real finances required?
    What about mental health?

Free education, excess food, free healthcare, central heating, hot water, very little war and we have vacines for TB and polio too. It's never been a better time to have kids.
