    Be cautious on using a soft shackle with the receiver hitch unless the hole has been radiused. If it is 90 degrees to the shank that edge can cut the soft shackle under load.

      Someone else mentioned this too, I appreciate you saying this. You guys are definitely teaching me stuff, I love it.

    That is a really nice list but don't leave home without GLOVES... I carry some impact gloves as well as a pair that is a little more tactile. Protect the digits!!!

      Good point! I've got some work gloves and winter gloves on the molle shelf. It never hurts to have them along!

    Perfect timing! Just got my c4 LowPro bumper and winch installed at R4T and I am building out the recovery gear list. Thank you for the video!

    Nice list. I daily my truck but for camping trips I definitely load up the "what if" gear (like traction boards and kinetic rope)
    I've used one of those jump packs to start several strangers's cars and they honestly reacted like I was Gandalf wizarding their car back to life haha
    With the hitch shackle if you want to use it for soft shackles you'll want to round off the inside edges. If you watched any of the Matt's Offroad wrecker games you probably saw where Paul from Fab Rats had a soft shackle fail during the pull event and it was pretty dramatic. Afterward they figured out that they'd cut the shackle on a hard metal corner.
    The only thing I'd add to the kit is tire plugs.
    Keep up the great videos!

      I thought the same exact thing after I filmed everything...should have included tire plugs...
      That's good advice on that hitch shackle receiver.
      Thanks!

    Love the Amber Accent Lighting on a Black Truck. I have similar [DD and Stedi-X] ditch, fog and led bars on my Ford MSRT Ranger. It just seems to work very well!

    For a treesaver strap, just use any rope or sling, and use a floormat from your car between rhe tree and the sling

    I have some HF gear along with various other brands also, never had any issues with them versus the name brands. I don't go along with the current mantra, that since what we do is called Overlanding now versus old school camping and off roading that we have to pay 5 times what a product is actually worth😉

    What was wrong with the way you pulled the white SUV out? I'm a noob.

    • @OverlandEngineer
      @OverlandEngineer  10 месяцев назад +1

      The white SUV didn’t have proper tow points but they didn’t have any other choice and wanted me to tow anyway. The rope we used was a kinetic rope and I towed them for a bit due to them likely getting stuck again. Typically don’t want to keep the stretchy material in kinetic ropes under tension for extended periods.

    Plug kit and get a soft tool bag for your things, a tool role would be much better for both space and to keep plasticity stuff bumping around in the back.

    With all of these mods how is the rig holding up? (Not the mods itself) but the performance/reliability/other issues? I have seen someone put a supercharger on one of these and put 100k miles. Everything was still glorious (it was a $10k job for it if i remmber correctly.) Your rig makes me so proud i own a 4runner by the way.

    I do not use kenetic ropes straps anymore, way too dangerous.., winching or recovery board is way way safer way to go.

  • @diztortedviews3857
    @diztortedviews3857 Год назад

    You don't use a kinetic rope other than to yank! If you pull someone or tow you'll ruin the elasticity of the kinetic rope :)

    I just can't trust an "engineer" who calls an IMPACT WRENCH a drill. Repeatedly and exclusively. 😮 Seriously, dude. Good luck with your channel.

    • @OverlandEngineer
      @OverlandEngineer  Год назад

      Lol, as if half the engineers that work today have touched a drill or impact. Also don’t think my channel success has anything to do with it. If you watched my videos I don’t think it’d be an issue…
      I get your point though. I grew up only using drills and didn’t own an impact myself until about 7 months ago…just a bad habit interchanging their names I guess and I didn’t think it was this important to do a clip retake…

    • @andrewlcraft1
      @andrewlcraft1 Год назад +1

      But you can definitely trust the keyboard warriors who call out minor stuff while forgetting everyone's human. I've put 20 years in the automotive industry, and I wouldn't have done a retake when everyone knows what was intended. 🙄
