    It's not about recycling more. It's bout buying without packaging. Even if you recycle everything, it most probably isn't being recycled

    For those that are interested or curious, the face serum and deodorant are by Lush. She was using the deodorant called T'eo which I know most people don''t like because of the texture. I personally use Aromaco which has a texture similar to coventional stick deodorant. Lush does plenty of plastic free products, but it's definitely a learning curve if you're looking to switch. Also, reusable wipes can be expensive and I know that can be made by yourself to help cut costs.

      for another alternative to makeup wipes, I use coconut oil on my face and then wipe it off with a damp/wet flannel- easy and cheap!

      I wish they had listed the product like that makeup removing pad. I tried some in the past that were supposed to remove makeup without product but they were made of synthetic fiber and I actually injured one of my eye really badly with it ! =0 I just ended up buying soft cotton face cloth and avocado oil. I don't really wear makeup at all anymore but would be curious to know. A good moisturizer that is not coconut oil ( I break out like CRAZY with coconut oil) is Raw cocoa butter , just break a small chunk and make it melt on your skin , the delicious smell of chocolate YUM ^^ .

    I was really disappointed in the girls' reliance on convenience and need for heavy makeup :/ I know makeup is important for cabin crew and them having a "done up" professional look, but let's face it, they'd look fine with subtle makeup. It's better for your skin anyway. I'd rather splurge on makeup that I use sparingly which lasts me longer. I don't think they emphasized the environmental aspect enough when talking about the makeup. It was all about "is this as good" and "would you buy it". And obviously there's no reason to buy more expensive makeup just to get the same result. But there is a reason to buy it with the added environmental aspect.

    Why is the responsibility and blame always on the consumer when the pressure should be on the manufacturer. When there is limited or no choice or its ultra expensive , sometimes it's a no win situation, it's makes the consumers life stressful and they are made to feel guilty from videos like this. I don't have time or money to worry about every little thing in life, so please just tackle the big global companies (that the EU is protecting) before bashing innocent consumers.

    • @katieelisabeth6036
      @katieelisabeth6036 5 лет назад +38

      well if the consumers change / demand for something different i.e. more sustainable packaging, then the companies will change, so it is really about the consumers. a lot of companies don't care about the environmental impact so if they dont need to change they won't, unless they're given reason to. I dont think theyre trying to blame the consumer, but it is important for people to be aware of what they are buying and make it clear if they arent happy as it is the best way to encourage change

    • @annam6726
      @annam6726 5 лет назад +16

      Changing the demand is important as well as contacting your local companies and government leaders to add more regulations on corporations

    • @alexa-qo6bj
      @alexa-qo6bj 5 лет назад +9

      i do get where you’re coming from however it is the consumers choice what they buy and if you don’t agree with what a company is doing it’s your responsibility not to support them by not buying their products

    • @bridgetclarke6093
      @bridgetclarke6093 5 лет назад +1

      You are so right. But personal resposibility always is important. I am not trying to down play what you said by the way. Youre point is so valid. We should also try and creat and pitch different alternatives. Idealy to be cheaper to produce or relatively so it would be easy to sell to these manufacturers

    • @RexySmith
      @RexySmith 4 года назад +1

      @@katieelisabeth6036 Givin a reason to by changing the laws and it just should be illegal to destroy the environment, Some places don't even have access to recycling(and we all know recycling is BS) nor access to basic composting pick up. Most places are so far off they can't even ban PLASTIC GROCERY BAGS !!!!!!!! like the most basic thing that should just not exist. It would be way more efficient to just have laws and ban all that crap. than having a few people dying of guilt because they are so stressed and have to make hours of research to figure out what product is the best for the environment or just not able to afford alternatives. Yes people have to be more mindful there is no doubt but waiting on the consumer want is like relying on a toddlers to make Healthy food choices by burring some carrots and celery underneath A ginormous pile of Cakes and Candies )and Chicken nuggets ). It's just not gonna happen , might be a few very well educated and behaved toddlers that going to go out of there way to find something healthy but the rest is just gonna grow overweight and unhealthy. Can't expect the mass to make decent choices when the options are very hard to find and you have to educate yourself on the subject and make tones of research to find actually good alternatives(on things that are not basic like use a bar of soap instead of body gel or use washable cloth instead of paper towels) . Everyone is already Overworked with No free time and stressful lives , Brain washed and Bombarded by commercials made to make you want and buy these products . Also adding to the top all the "green washing" that is even more misleading people in thinking they are making good choices but it's just as bad at the end. But than again laws are slow to change and making one thing illegal ,companies come up with another bad new chemicals that will take 40 year to show up and prove that's its actually bad for people and another 5-10 year to actually make a law about it.

    I'd be a bit worried about using an homemade product around my eyes personally. Eyes can be really vulnerable to bacterial infection and I don't think that an homemade mascara can have the same hygienic standards of a store-bought one. I'd be down to try homemade lipstick and blush, though.
