Two things make this build a must for me 1. Always looking for a fun build to allow me try intelligence build. 2. Claymore was my favourite darksouls weapon and I'm morethan happy to happy to have full playthrough dedicated to it. Thanks for the build 🎉
would the stat spread work? I was thinking in using both my Moonlight Greatsword and this build and it seems Claymore or Knights Greatword could work better
The flamberge and gargoyle greatsword can get B scaling w/INT versus only C for the iron greatsword - would that make them better or is there some other factor that makes the iron GS better?
@@mattgreen753 as far as I know, you can’t infuse Carian Sovereignty with flamburge since it’s a colossal sword. And as for gargoyle sword and iron greatsword, it doesn’t matter whichever you pick when it comes to Carian Sovereignty, because the damage of it is the same on both swords. However, the iron greatsword has higher weapon damage, so it’s more versatile.
@@cgonzalezcon it’s always good to pick the one with higher weapon damage. The damage range of Carian Sovereignty varies depending on it, along with your INT level.
@@ysryashrajit’s overall a very solid sword and the move set has some good poking heavy attacks. The base great katana from the dlc is also a pretty good option to use this ash with.
Magic scorpion is 12% more magic at a 10% more damage taken trade off. I’d take the graven mass talisman for 8% instead. 4% less damage but no downsides.
That what I was gonna say☝️ I don't think Graven Mass affects ashes of war. I do think it's makes for a cool lore build to use a carian glintstone staff and use carian sword sorcery as well, I like the slicer for quicker attacks than you would get with the claymore r1's.

Was it nerfed? I am getting a little over 3000 for the first slash with 99 int scorpion charm, shard of alexander, godfrey icon and dragoncrest talisman with the claymore
It was nerfed but not the damage. The hyper armor and poise was nerfed so you can't use it to trade against anything. I do like 8k+ damage if I can get it off but as soon as a boss sneeze at you, it get interrupted
This was nerfed too much, every boss attack poise break me before I can get it off and because its so long to cast, every boss doesn't have enough recovery frame for you to actually use it
@@gandalfdawhitekid913 Correction, Claymore only has C. I think some do but it'd be Cold infusion, hence not the most optimal way to pump up the damage of Carian Sovereignty. When I rechecked, Flamberge has a B in Int at 25, plus it has built in Bleed.
@@zacktodd-pc7vy doesn't change. I tried it on Great Katana and 3 different Greatswords. Everything will knock you out. The last 4 bosses I tried it on, knocked me out of it immediately.
you must have shit poise, that’s why I’d rather lose the 8 percent boost from wearing the shitty armor of the spell blade set and wear something that gives me some poise
@@JTdaGoat2871 Ive tested it with the break point poise dude. Tested with 51 and 64. Same problem. I wrote this on another post but the hyper armor on this Ash is the same poise you get when throwing a heavy attack with a Greatsword. It's been tested and there is a RUclips video proving it and explaining. There are only a few ashes with true hyper armor where you basically are immune to knock out. That's the gravity spin, palm blasts, Loretta, one if the storm jumps, and like 2 more forgot the names.
@@toxicomegayeah Ive cleared the dlc on NG+7. You absolutely have to have heavy armor and that's bad design, it's forcing an absolute meta no build variety
@@tootles7622 I'm on +17 currently, if you use dragoncrest great shield then you don't need heavy armor unless you're not dodging at all. You gotta learn the movesets my guy
Since the ash of war is already in the dlc I'd recommend going with the "two headed turtle talisman". It just gives better/faster stamina regen
I put it on the great katana with cold affinity.
Absolutely perfect for dex int builds :)
Not surprised the original Ash of War from the base game was just as good

Use the Iron great sword. It’s got the highest magic damage support among great swords

No I've tried both Milady and Claymore and I've had better results with the latter.
They do. Just not as much. There is a video on the Carian Sovereignty that talks about it.
Daggers being the lowest.

Is there a reason to run the spellblade armor over new Raksasha Armor
Raksashsa armor has a debuff you take more dmg but the dragons talisman pretty much evens that out

does lvl 177 matter? isnt 150 the meta
Honestly 175-200 is a better meta for the dlc. So many weapons don't get their full power at 150, like smithscript weapons

IIRC it does. It has B scaling in Int at max upgrade.
