- Join us for Jollywood Nights, a brand new event at Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World for the holiday season 2023, on opening night! As we attempt to navigate the first ever night of this brand new event, we'll bring you along for our full experience - both good and bad - the shows, food, entertainment, characters, new food and drinks and more. Let's visit Twilight Soirée at the Tip Top Club, Jazzy Holidays at The Hollywood Brown Derby, see Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse and more, at Disney's Holidays in Hollywood brand new show, sing along to The Nightmare Before Christmas and see a massive Jack Skellington puppet and Oogie Boogie pull some dance moves, and try some specialty party exclusive food and drinks - oh and check out the one and only piece of party exclusive merchandise they had available! This opening night of this brand new event was a mixed bag for us - and we share out full experience, including all the pros and cons, good and bad, what felt "worth it" to us, and what didn't, and of course we ALWAYS keep it real with you, while also making the best of things and enjoying it to the fullest to make the most of the money we spent on the pricey tickets for a very short event at only 4 hours! At the end of this video, we give a detailed breakdown, our opinions and tips for how to make the most of it if you're planning to attend. I think our order of doing things allowed us to do more than we would have if we did things in a different order. Was it worth it? I agree with your assessment. We watched the show with Kermit and Piggy to start with, and it was amazing! After that, it just seemed to be one disappointment after another. Not enough to do, bare bones for some of the things they did do. It didn't feel like a party AT ALL when you were walking around the park. All we saw were people standing in line for food, or just sitting around waiting for something to happen. We had fun, but I wouldn't do the party again if it's setup like this.

It seems you're really paying the money for just a couple shows. I suspect that many of the rides had short wait times which might make it more reasonable for those riding more rides. And at least one of the big attractions was dependent on decent weather which could really make the event a waste for those going in bad weather.
yes the ride times were short, but sadly the event is so short, we didn't have time to ride more than TOT, since we wanted to do the special party stuff. It's a tough one. I think adding mobile order to the food booths would help.

We were there last night and had the same feeling! The entertainment and shows were truly the saving grace of the event. The lines were way too long and the party wasn’t long enough to wait in anything. I truly hope that Disney makes changes for future parties and even next year. I also was sad they didn’t have more event specific merch.
We respect your honest review! We were there and it was worse for us cause we showed up about 6:30 and had to wait in the MASSIVE line to get the wristband.
Aw man I’m so sorry! I do think the order we did things saved our night somewhat. And the checking was so weird, they let us check in sooo early, which was great but they didn’t make it clear to ppl, we just happened to figure it out by asking a cm. They should have made it clear to check in early, and also have more than one checkin location like MK does.

You're exactly right! Brown Derby should definitely have more Christmas decorations - what decorations they did have - looked like an after thought. As you said, maybe they'll take a look at your video as well as others and see what they can improve upon. It looks like Disney sold more tickets than they should have. No one wants to go to these pricey separate ticketed events and stand in lines and not be able to enjoy what the event was offering. I seriously hope Disney does take heed and make this event more than what it is now. There is so much room for improvement if they are willing to do so. If not, this will definitely be a 1 and done event. Thanks so much for sharing yours and Sam's honest opinion.

Dang, you were right about that Jack Skellington puppet! They do a really good job with that!! Also, when I tried the twilight Daiquiri it had almost no coconut flavor. It’s crazy how a premixed drink can taste so different throughout the night 😂
We must have got the bottom of the barrel, all the coconut at the bottom 😂 the Jack skellington puppet was one of the coolest things of the night! I wish I could see it again up close.

We had such fomo not getting into Brown Derby, but it was a blessing in disguise 😂 Love your dress. Nobody sang at our sing along either & we had the same thoughts.
Thanks for sharing your honest experience! I like a lot of the ideas they have for this event, but it seems to lack the exciting and immersive theming for their lounges and the party areas that would make it a memorable and unique event. I'm still spoiled from the Osborne Family Lights but something that's more of a step towards that for the new themed entertainment spaces would really elevate this event.

I really appreciate your honest take on these events, Jackie because you explain the positives and negatives very well with no sugar coating. It does seem Jollywood Nights was a bit over hyped judging by what was being marketed but like what you and Sam said, it was a fun night with some flaws and some positives and you guys made the best out of it! either way! I think Disney will learn for the better if they do this event again next year.

I’m looking forward to doing this next week, the old school decorations at HS have always been my favorite of the parks and I’m excited about the music and food.
After all the videos I watched of this event, everyone agrees 4 hours for that price is not enough time, plus all the long lines. It was better when it was MGM, open until 11pm and had the Osbourne Christmas Lights. I'd spend a good 2 hours just walking through it.

They way oversold this event! When you pay that much money, you should have the opportunity and time to do everything. You shouldn't have to worry about waiting in huge lines and sacrificing your time. In theory it's a great idea, but they only care about the bottom line and it shows.

I would 100% buy a ticket _just_ for Kermit and Miss Piggy 😍 "I didn't have any time to accessorize between numbers" lolol The Jack Skellington puppet was beyond incredible to see, too. I think they did a really great job with all of the live entertainment! As for the rest of the event, well...I suppose there's always a few bugs to work out with any new event, but I can't say I wasn't expecting a little more from Disney. We always appreciate that you look for the positives and make the best of every situation even when it's a little disappointing. For as short as the event window is, I think that Jollywood Nights might be better-served by capping attendance at a much lower number like the After Hours events. It's a lot easier to forgive subpar food if you don't have to wait an hour for it. 😉 On the bright side, you can always fall back on Tower of Terror for a guaranteed good time! Sorry that we're a little late to the party, but we loved this vlog and we really appreciate your honest take on the event!
Honestly they nailed the muppet humor and it was the best part!! Seems like Disney has made some improvements, but at the end of the day, we still had a good time! Love u guys!!

No idea why they didn't have the muppets sing a song from Muppets Christmas Carol. Total missed opportunity!! And they even had Belle sing her song from enchanted Christmas, a movie that no one has ever seen but I love!!! 😂

I hope this gets better over the next few weeks. Seeing lots of EH experiences so far. Sounds like it's a good thing we are eating Cape May before we go in so we won't have to be concerned too much with the food. I can't believe that shrimp cocktail though. Thanks for the honest opinion!

I have attended many Disney hard tickets events over the years and I always have a substantial meal prior to the event. There are usually limited food offerings at any Disney event, and the lines are always long. We never waste our valuable event time waiting to eat. We learned this lesson the hard way. 😂

I really don't remember the Studios doing that much for the holidays though they always had the big tree at the entrance. But this looks pretty cool. We had to St Augustine for their lights and will hit studios on the way back. You guys should think about doing a session on St Augustine during the holidays. It's very pretty. And they have the fort..Lighthouse and St John street which is fun. We were at Epcot last weekend and for whatever reason it was as crowded as I've ever seen it. I was happy to catch Soarin/California. As usual you look great and I like Sams shirt.
I can't believe it was only 4 hrs!! That's like paying 40+ dollars and hour!! I really appreciate your critique of this event. I started going to MVMC event when tickets were only around $36- to to see the cost now, wow!! I've been so many times it, in my opinion, is not worth it but for someone who's never gone it may be to them. I love how honest you are. Glad you and Sam still had fun.

Wow only 4 hours and for all that $$$. Plus $13 for 3 shrimp Disney must be out of their minds. You said it was hard to get into, 😢 that Brown Derby restaurant but most of the tables were empty. Again Disney milking the customer for everything. Thanks for staying positive and taking us along.
Yea they should have staffed up. A lot of tweaks need to be made to this event if they want it to be worth the money.

It’s getting SO hard to NOT feel like you’re getting ripped off with just HOW OVERCROWDED things are since they don’t limit ticket sales and the prices are just SO JACKED UP! The events in the California Parks are actually worse for overcrowding by the way….just leaves a bad taste in the mouth after an event that should be joyous…

Great video Jackie and I LOVE your outfit for the evening! I’m going to this event in early December so I had to watch ur video. I kind of have a game plan of what I’m going to focus on now (cough not the Brown Derby cough). I’m curious if they will tweak some stuff by the time I go. But I’m really glad you showed the shows. That’s one of the things I’m looking most forward too.

But I’m kind of excited that we might be able to focus on rides after we see the shows. Like you said, I might treat it like an After Hours Party. Was Mickey and Minnie’s Run Away Railway open during the event?

I’m living vicariously through you as I’m sick with a cold in bed in California with an equally sick child with a much more serious health issue that I spent the night in the ER with.
