Elmers wood glue worked wonders for me! I tried it myself after realizing mod podge does not work. The wood glue is wonderful, and is actually cheaper than the other suggest one. It takes a LONG time to dry. If your flower is level while it dries, and glue dries evenly without dripping. Also it is a very thick glue. No dryer necessary.
thanks for sharing, always have fun watching ur vids. just another idea.... I had formed the shapes like you did for your flowers and leaves. Then I used the tacky glue on the wire - but instead of stretching the glue across I used pieces of fabric or netting or shiny tissue paper and let it dry completely. Then I came back and trimmed the edges of the fabric to be even with the edges of the wire. I used the sparkly paint on the flowers too. But I never thought about just using the glue! Super idea and I will definitely keep this in mind. THANK U!
Hi laurie. I love the idea of using fabric. That sounds really pretty. I think the fabric would be great for larger projects. Thanks for the tip. I will have to try that sometime. :) I never saw this done with glue either. The idea came to me and I was like... wow... I'll bet that could be neat. hehe Then I couldn't stop coming up with ideas. I think they will make great gifts too. :) I can't wait to wear my hair clips. I like to wear hair clips in the summer. Thank you so much for your wonderful comment and for watching. Hugs.
Wood glue works great! Pour a little in a small container (like a fat medicine/pill bottle) and dip the flower in. Dip a second time after about half an hour and let dry a couple of hours. Coat with nail polish. Wrap wires with floral tape and floral picks to make stunning arrangements.
Love love love your videos and can't wait to try them with my granddaughters. Of all these many many years I have been using the Bobby Pin the wrong way...Like many I have them placed like yours in your video...but the wavy part goes towards the hair not on the outside. Even my mother and grandmother was using them the wrong way too lol. Happy Crafting, Debs from Texas.
So my wife does her nails using the water marbling technique. She uses a twist on that to make large petals. She uses a plastic cup that her wire shape will fit into. She then fills the cup with purified water. Then she places a drop of nail polish in the middle of the water. That is followed by maybe 5 more drops, one at a time. She lightly blows on the polish until it dries. You will see the film slightly wrinkle when it is ready. Place the wire form into the polish just enough to very slightly push the film down. With the polish pushed down, use a toothpick to remove the polish outside of your wire form from the water. Gently pull the wire form out of the water. Let dry, and coat with Elmers for added strength. This makes it possible to do much larger shapes.
I forgot to mention that you can dip the wire form more than once. Just let it dry between dips. My DW tried to just paint the petals at first, but the new polish dissolved the old. This method gives her very thin streak free results.
Hi, could you let me know the kind of wire you used for the flower? I used the 0.28mm and it's kind of flimsy and the shape of the flower gets distorted. Should I use the 0.3mm or 0.4mm wires? Thanks
Thank you so much for your tutorial. I'm new to making jewelry making. I have been looking online at other peoples tutorials for other items. I found yours and would like to thank you for sharing your technique!!! But more importantly, your explanation is easy and to the point, and your voice is very pleasant to listen to. Unfortunately I have found a lot of other tutorials waste time talking about nonsense and they have very whiny voices. I am so thrilled that I have found this, I am going to attempt to make a broach and add crystals. Again thank you so much!!!! Tina from Australia:-)
I have a question for you. I did not use Aileen's but I am curious if it did the same thing as the glue I used. When I painted the nail polish onto the petals of glue they crumpled up like the polish was eating the glue slightly.
+Shelly Norris Yes. I used the Original Aileen's Tacky Glue. I never had the problem of it crumpling up. Was the glue dry? It always works perfectly for me and it holds up really well too. All of my pieces are still in tact and look great. Try experimenting with a new bottle of glue? Thanks for watching. :)
been looking for your tutorial all last evening, ended up just wrapping a bit of wire into a rough petal shape and tried the only glue that i had similar to yours. This evening it has dried, still feels a bit tacky to the touch but the glue has stayed in place just a few but a few bubbles have appeared. Nail varnish might cover it. i used Bostik All Purpose Glue, extra strong.
These are so cool and very beautiful, I remember when I was a teenager I had a set that I could make flowers out of by dipping them into a liquid that would form a clear plastic. This technique really reminds me of that kit I used to have. I don't remember the name of it but I really loved your process here. Quite lovely!
+Susie LaLonde Thank you SO much Susie. :) The kit you had when you were younger sounds really neat and pretty easy. I wonder they used in the kit. Pretty cool.
I don't know what it was, but it was really liquidy and all you had to do is dip the wire into it and then sit it up in a styrofoam thing so it could dry. www.clayalley.com/dihow.htm here is a website that sells some similar stuff I found it when searching google. The liquid came in different colors also. You are welcome
These look amazing!!! I'm making some for my mums birthday and putting them in a flower vase🙂 thanks for the idea💕 I'll tell you how much my mum likes it.
I tried all kinds of glue too. I even tried wood glue it was a no go... I used JOT WHITE GLUE you can get at the dollar store. Than a get a seal tight container with a top get at dollar store too. Pour all the Jot glue into the container and dip the wired flowers spin with fingers bring up outta the glue and stick into a floral foam ring to dry. It dries clear...Than paint with nail polish put back on foam to dry. When done put top back on container filled with glue for the next time ....
Wow! What a great idea! Could turn these also into embellishments for mini albums, cards, flower centres! The possibilities are endless! Thanks for the inspiration! Tfs hugs Renee
Yes! They would work great for embellishments. You can use this idea for so many things. Thank you very much for your lovely comment and for sharing your ideas. OXOX
I absolutely love this! So creative! You know, I pick up tarnished metal and various odds and ends of otherwise useless or really ugly jewelry at GoodWill or yard sales or what have you and paint them with nail polish to make jewelry sets that match exactly to my outfits. I've even colored sunglasses this way! I love playing around with the stuff, but your idea really takes the cake! Please keep posting! ;-)
I just tried and found this craft and I used Elmer's classic glitter glue in blue and it looks very pretty butfor the middle I used puffy paint natural glow so I think you should try puffy paint and the Elmer's classic glitter glue I Hope it works!!!!!! thank you for the tutorial!~~~
Your video is amazing & very helpful for when I attempt to make a flower tiara for my daughter for her 10th birthday. I love the tacky glue idea & so far you're the only video I've seen use glue & nail polish.
Hi Chris. Thank you so much for your wonderful comment. :) I am so happy that you found the video useful. Your daughter will have a beautiful birthday tiara. I never saw anything like this before either. I came across something that looked kind of like it but was not sure how they did it so I made this up. I was so happy that it worked and I just had to share it with everyone. :)
I saw this video a couple of years ago and just loved it and you and your family. But then I got lost in health issues and when I went to find you again I thought the site name was 'colormeworld' so naturally I couldn't find you and I was so bummed out. But I just found you on youtube and was thrilled. Now I won't forget your name anymore. You do great work and I am so glad to see your creations. Happy Trails and crafting.
Awww you are so sweet Carol. Thank you SO much for your awesome comment. I am happy you are feeling better and can do crafts again. Much love to you. OXOX
Thank you so very much sandrartes. :) I love your videos too. My son and I enjoy working with polymer clay. You are so talented and you are such a great teacher. I am so glad I found your channel. Thank you for visiting my channel.
I find it very easy to use a hot glue gun you just have to be very careful and when it goes on goes on clear and drive a whole lot faster to where you can pain it quicker than if you were to use regular glue
WOW......I cannot believe ....this.....Beautiful pieces...and well explained...!!Keep up the GREAT work......... ; ) Love the extra footage of family .... having fun....!!! Wonderful...
I am not sure how to add a photo in comments but I made some using just the nail polish to make the skin and was able to create some cool effects by adding a drop of another color and swirling. Once dried I brushed on an additional coat on the back of the petals and will finish with a sparkle top coat. I like your wrapping technique. Please share more.
hot glue will work as well and is quick. I make flowers out of soda bottles. I cut the shapes I want out of the top and the bottom of the bottle and make leaves out of the middle. I paint them with nail polish and use a heat gun on them (the hair dryer is usually not hot enough)the heat gun makes them shape into themselves and each one is unique. Since I use so much nail polish, i make the bottles and the brushes into fairy trees using the wire and hot glue to form the tree.
Thanks for the tutorial! I now have made several of these since watching your video-they're addictive! I didn't have any glue, so I've been doing it without it...so far, so good!
Chandra Williams That is awesome Chandra!! It worked for you without glue. Yay! I could not get it to work without glue. I am so happy it worked for you. :)
I have been making these types of flowers in miniature for at least 10 years. I use both nail polish and acrylic paint mixed with the glue ...I use gold wire, sobo glue because it dries clear.
PVA glue worked just fine for me,honestly,I was pleasantly surprised and I simply poured a little glue puddle on a flat surface and dragged the wire leaves across it.Surprisingly it worked really well and quick as well. Then just stuck them into foam to sit until they dried on their own and painted, came out much better than expected.
Thank you SO much KuroHinatule! That is great advice. :) I never used PVA glue. I will have to give it a try. It sounds like you had a great time making your projects. Yay!! Thank you for sharing your experience. Awesomeness!
You're most welcome.I've just noticed before that PVA glue forms a nice foam after it dries and is transparent after it dries so I simply used it.It was indeed fun trying out something new.
how would glue guns glue work ? It would make your steps less . and give it's a different look . ok just another items how about used color crayons . You could swirl the colors
I usualy do it but only with the Nail Polishes. . But i like your trick very much. Also remember Nail polish can be used with the chip silver , cause it doesn´t change its colour to black or yellow.
Nicely done but you don't need the glue. I start with clear nail polish and have been doing it this way for many years. I would be happy to pass on tips if you wish. To see what can be done with practice please visit my Google page. Keep on having fun.
So cool and pretty neat idea you have here! I just might make some of these. If I do, I'll share them on your Facebook page. Now let me see if I am a friend of yours there yet...lol! I am! YAY!!! I thought so. Cute kids too btw! Thank you for sharing luv! ♥ dig ♥
Thank you so much dig. :) I would love it if you made some and shared it. That would be totally awesome! If you come up with any good ideas to make this even easier or different, I would love to hear your ideas. I really enjoyed doing this and coming up with different things to make with it. I think you will have fun too. I really appreciate your comment. Big hugs!!
Funny video , lovely work , i'll have to try someday but because of my multiple allergies i'll have to ask the doc first :) TFS and good luck :) From Romania with love xx
Hi, I tried this technique on sone flowers, but for some reason it doesn't work. The glue won't stay on the petals, it opens up and just drips back down, I can't get it to stick no matter what I do, any idea what I did wrong? Please help, thanks!
When I do this I use Elmer's school glue, but I put it in a small container so I can dip the wire frame into the glue and coat mostly all of it at once. I find this easyer because it's faster, there's less ecsese, and can be used with a variety of glues.
thanks for your details on how to make these nail polish flower crafts. I will use your method . and will try it all out since I am just trying this . great job .
Thanks Kym. :) I love using the nail polish because of all the sparkles. hehe I love the fancy look of sparkles. Oh my goodness, we did have a lot of fun in the snow. I wish you were here to enjoy it with us. :) I know how much you enjoy the snow too. Snow with hills works great for sledding. haha Gotta love it.
U n I must think ALOT a like as I had thought of this (to make the wings on a fairy jar for my niece) but never got arnd to trying it out. Trying it now bc uv done it beautifully!!!! I especially love the dragonfly. Trying it w the clear tacky glue (that's what I have on hand) n seems to b working but taking alot longer to dry....May have used too much???? Love these, very creative. Keep up the good work! ;)
thanks to you, I've completed 40 tiny flowers! I make different designs (butter cup, tulips etc and I even managed to make an orchid!) and I make the whole stalk is from one single wire - Flower and leaves! I don't use glue at all, all leaves and flowers are directly painted from nail polish. All my friends are in awe with my flowers. They crowded around my pot of flowers and can't believe what i've make them from just wire and nail polish. I've given a pot to my friend as a birthday gift and now, all my other friends are asking for a pot each! Well, I've finish another 40 flowers, yeah!! I would like to show them to you but apparently, I can't paste the photo here. Thank you so much. If you would like to look at what I've done, maybe you could give me your email address and I'll email to you. Many thanks again!
I wish I could see them. I have alot of grandchildren and some great grands and they are almost all little girls. They love headbands and jewelry, being 4,5,6,or younger.
+Andrew Walker I have not had any trouble with any of my projects falling apart. Water does not seem to bother them either. I wear them in the shower and even in the pool. Perhaps the nail polish protects the glue from getting wet? Thanks so much for the question and for watching. :)
Thank you for showing this technique. My daughter and I were looking for a craft to do and tried making them but the wire was wrong and the directions never said anything about the glue.Cant wait to try making flowers and I love your dragon flies. Do you think the flowers are strong enough to make key chains? Thanks, Janet (pj 's account)
Pj Peters That is so exciting to hear . YAY!! I am very happy that this tutorial will inspire you to create new things. I do think that it is strong enough for a key chain as long as you use thicker wire. I have not had ANY issues with my projects coming apart. They seem very sturdy. Thank you so much for watching. :)
Hi, just started doing some flowers. But I haven't used the tacky glue. How does the glue hold up? Does the glue peel off over time? Love the last session playing in the snow with the kids, nice touch.:)
+Maria Le-Bron I am amazed at how strong the glue holds up. I still wear all of the things that are shown in the video and have not had ANY issues with the glue. It is sturdier than you might think. :) Thanks so much for watching. I am so happy you enjoyed the video and want to give this project a try. OXOX
How did you attaché the flowers to your hair clips and bob pins. I would love to make some for my granddaughter but afraid the wire would stick her head. Love the idea, great tutorial.
Donna Ball Hi Donna. Thanks for the awesome question. I wrapped the wire around the plastic on the hair clip and then wrapped it close to the bottom of the flower or butterfly so that the wire would not poke out. I wrapped and tucked. I also used a bit of glue (I used super glue) to hold them in place where I wanted them to stay so that they did not move around. Each piece I made has held up really well. Your granddaughter will love it. :)
Thanks so much for this! It is going to be such a lifesaver for a gift I'm making :) Can't wait to try this technique out. Once everything was dry, did you find any of them broke after wearing or using? I'm thinking of shipping one to a friend as a gift, I think she will love it
magikspiffy Hi magikspiffy. I am so glad you like this idea. :) I never had a problem with any of my pieces breaking. It seems to be pretty tough and I have worn them in the shower also. I think the wire will give out before the glue. hehe I also never tried hot glue but it may be something cool to try. If you do try it, let me know how it works. Thank you so much for your awesome question.
Feeoryne I use a regular size pen or pencil for my flowers usually but you can use a sharpie. It sometimes takes a little longer to get the glue to do what you want it to do when working with a larger sized flower but it is possible. :) They are such fun. Thanks so much for watching. :)
How do you make the butterflies. they are so kool looking. I wanted to do a project for a neighbor girl. I've tried serveral ways but they don't turn out right
Hi Lee. I made my butterflies by making 4 loops almost like I did with my flowers. I pick which 2 loops I want for each wing and then pinch the 2 loops closer together. You can pinch and bend the wings until they look good to you. One of the things that makes it look like a butterfly is how you put the wings. Make sure you make room for the body by spreading it apart a little in the middle. Once you push the wings apart to make room for the body, you can use an extra piece of wire to wrap the center but be sure you start out with a little extra for the antennae and end with a little extra. Don't get discouraged. It takes practice. I actually liked the butterflies that I made out of a little thicker wire much better. I used 26 gauge wire for the flowers and 20 gauge for some of my butterflies. So maybe you can try a different size of wire. Here is a close up picture of the butterflies on my hair clip. i1171.photobucket.com/albums/r545/EasyMeWorld/butterflyhairclip.jpg Maybe that will help you picture how I did mine. Hang in there and have fun. I know you can do it. :)
I am from romania and i don't quite know what glue that is. I could really use some help.are there any romanians??? I think it is called "aracet" but i am not sure
BookLover46 Hi BookLover. I experimented with different glues until I found one that worked. Maybe you can just try some glue that you have in your art stash to start off with. :) Some people do this without the glue but I was never successful at doing it that way. Thank you SO much for watching. :)
This is an awesome idea! I have been looking for ideas for a charm bracelet for my little sister's birthday, and this looks like just the thing. Thank you!
I will have to try that. It sounds really cool. I never worked with it before. It seems like the type of stuff that I can really have a lot of fun with. hehe Thank you so much for the suggestion.
Thank you Megan!! That is totally awesome!! Yay!! I am so happy that the tutorial helped you with your demonstration. Doing the happy dance. hehe :) I love it!!
Does the nail polish or glue peel come off after wearing alot? Or does it stay on fully? I ask because i want to make a necklace but i don't want the polish or glue to warm and come off and leave a color on my skin
Thanks for the awesome question. I wear my bracelet all the time. Even in the shower. I haven't taken it off since making it. The glue has not softened and the polish is still holding strong. I also wear the necklace a lot. It is also still holding strong. I am VERY pleased with how all my pieces have turned out. :)
THANK YOU! I'm so excited to make something I've been wanting forever, but couldn't find in stores. How durable are they? any suggestions to make it more durable?
+J Win I am SO happy that you like this craft J Win. :) Actually, these are very durable. I even wear my jewelry pieces in the shower. All of my pieces have held up awesomely. Thank you very much for watching. :) oxox

I paint them with nail polish and use a heat gun on them (the hair dryer is usually not hot enough)the heat gun makes them shape into themselves and each one is unique. Since I use so much nail polish, i make the bottles and the brushes into fairy trees using the wire and hot glue to form the tree.
+Linda B Halverson AWESOME ideas. Thank you so much for sharing. It sounds like you are a wonderful creator. :) You are awesome. OXOX
Wood glue works the best I have found
Thanks for the tutorial! I now have made several of these since watching your video-they're addictive! I didn't have any glue, so I've been doing it without it...so far, so good!
Chandra Williams That is awesome Chandra!! It worked for you without glue. Yay! I could not get it to work without glue. I am so happy it worked for you. :)
Wood glue works well to
Beautiful creations! You can also make a snowflake with that great idea of yours for winter! :)
Kailey Villafranca That is a good idea. :) I will have to give it a try. Love it! Thank you.
I have been making these types of flowers in miniature for at least 10 years. I use both nail polish and acrylic paint mixed with the glue ...I use gold wire, sobo glue because it dries clear.
Shelly Norris GREAT tip. Thank you! I will have to give that a try. Awesomeness!
Wood Glue works perfectly as well
PVA glue worked just fine for me,honestly,I was pleasantly surprised and I simply poured a little glue puddle on a flat surface and dragged the wire leaves across it.Surprisingly it worked really well and quick as well.
Why did you stop making videos? I just found your channel, but you’re gone. 😕
Neville Thomas Thank you Neville. Do you buy a special clear nail polish? I will have to check out your Google page for sure. :)
EasyMeWorld No, just the cheapest I can buy, I hope to be uploading a video soon so you can see how then.
Thank you so much! I've been trying to figure out how to use less nail polish but still have it more sturdy, less brittle.
That's a cool idea. I think i am going to make me some and turn them in to beautiful jewelry. Thanks for sharing.
stunning!!! ❤ this idea of glue and wire (and nail polish!) is GREAT!!! every your creation is amazing!! I love this video very very much!!
Thank you FairFashionArt. :) I am happy you like the idea. It sure was a fun one.
EasyMeWorld I have to try! :) ;) hugs! Giada ♥
Big hugs!!
They turned out awesome! Love the butterflies and dragonflies!

........after all m a bracelet lover :p
Funny video , lovely work , i'll have to try someday but because of my multiple allergies i'll have to ask the doc first :) TFS and good luck :) From Romania with love xx
Wow, that is so beautiful and I wouldn't thought of doing this. Nice, family pictures and everyone is having a great time. Thank you for sharing.
You are a breath of fresh air...And Love love love your ideas... Fantastic !
Hi, I tried this technique on sone flowers, but for some reason it doesn't work. The glue won't stay on the petals, it opens up and just drips back down, I can't get it to stick no matter what I do, any idea what I did wrong? Please help, thanks!
Love this... I use thick nail polish and it works to hope you try it...) Let me know if you do tell me what you think!
I will use your method . and will try it all out since I am just trying this . great job .
Great idea , I'm inspired.... I was thinking suncatchers for rear view mirror in cars? 🌼
Awesome video! I love all the different things you made with the nail polish! SO creative and fun! You look like you had a lot of fun in the snow!
Great. Clever and Creative!!. Thank You for taking the time to make this video.

mischa marchenko Thank you very much mischa. I am so happy that you like my projects and love the idea. Yay! :D
Keep up the good work! ;)
FYI.... clear tacky glue is NOT working properly. Guess I'm off to the store... :/
thanks to you, I've completed 40 tiny flowers!
They love headbands and jewelry, being 4,5,6,or younger.
now how do they act with water 2 when changing color wont the clue under nail polish come off ,and why not just go over the top off that first color.
Awesome tutorial. Thanks so much!
SUSIE Peterson-LaLonde Thank you. :)
You are very welcome, I just love your videos not to mention your cheery smile and great attitude. I'm really glad I found your channel.
You can use wood glue for the first coats. The fiber in it gives a good base.
Wow this is so cool. I want to try it now thanks so much for sharing your video.
Thanks so much for this! It is going to be such a lifesaver for a gift I'm making :) Can't wait to try this technique out.
Once everything was dry, did you find any of them broke after wearing or using?
I'm thinking of shipping one to a friend as a gift, I think she will love it
Also, would hot glue work with this? :)
magikspiffy Hi magikspiffy.
Please do more things you haven't posted in a YEAR!!!!!
+Andi Jimenez Thank you. I will do that. :) Thanks for watching.
Could you do a video on how you made your wire nail polish butterflies
would wood glue work?
I have not tried it but many people in the comments say that it does. :) OXOX
Very creative, can you show how you made the bracelet?
Liza Tumpkin That sounds like a great idea. I will put it on my list of videos to make. Thank you so much for watching and for your suggestion. :)
Hi, I was wondering what size pencil are you using for wrapping your wire?
I am using a sharpie and I find it very challenging to apply glue to it!!!
Feeoryne I use a regular size pen or pencil for my flowers usually but you can use a sharpie. It sometimes takes a little longer to get the glue to do what you want it to do when working with a larger sized flower but it is possible. :) They are such fun. Thanks so much for watching. :)
Oh my GOD! Something I don't have to squint to do! LOL! Will post my projects...
Kara Poole Thank you so very much Kara. I am so excited that you like this project. :) Yay!!
Very nice..i would love to try this one..thanks for a nice video..i liked all your creations..
Thank you Shalini. :) I am so glad you like my creations and the video.
this is such a fun project thanks for sharing i loved it
Sherie Mcclelland Thank you so much for watching. It is a lot of fun. :) There are so many things that we can create. hehe
This is an awesome idea! I have been looking for ideas for a charm bracelet for my little sister's birthday, and this looks like just the thing. Thank you!
+Kitty L That is an awesome idea. Thank you for sharing. :) I love it!
Judikins Diamond Glaze will give excellent, actually superior results.
I will have to try that. It sounds really cool. I never worked with it before. It seems like the type of stuff that I can really have a lot of fun with. hehe Thank you so much for the suggestion.
THANK YOU THANK YOU. I USED YOUR TECHNIQUE FOR A DEMONSTRASTION SPEECH FOR MY COLLEGE CLASS ON HOW TO MAKE JEWELRY :)
Thank you Megan!! That is totally awesome!! Yay!! I am so happy that the tutorial helped you with your demonstration. Doing the happy dance. hehe :) I love it!!
What cuties you have. Life is grande.
This is super. I am so excited. This is the answer to my wire jewelry that seemed to have something missing. Thank you thank you thank you!
wood glue works well pour some into a dish and dip wire flower in it
Dipping um in wood glue is alot easier and it drys clear
If your have gel polish and a light you can put a harder skin after everything has completely dried.
EasyMeWorld thank you for replying!
It's good to know that it wont peel or come off! Now i won't have to worry to much about messing them up!
Will definitely try this thanks for showing the glue used,,,
+Maureen Chantry Thanks for giving it a try. Awesome! :)
Yippee! What fun! I am going to try this. Thank you very much.
I used gorilla brand wood glue and it worked great.
:) oxox
thank you for the reply, I'm very glad to know they are durable :) I'm off to the store now for some tacky glue!
