    I'd love nothing more than to be able to see The Ultimate Queen Celebration live, but my fear is that I'd eventually be reduced to nothing more than a puddle of tears. Marc is just that good and I also miss Freddie that much. Signed ~ A 57 year old softee who likes to think that he's still a Metal head.

    Marc has quite a lot of talent. He really does invoke the spirit of Freddie. His lower end range really sounds like Freddie. Though I think marc has a slightly higher voice than Freddie. so Marc's higher end strays away from the Freddie sound slightly. Regardless marc is a very talented singer and has really put a lot of work in to sounding similar to Freddie. He Is the closest thing to the real Freddie mercury that I've ever heard or seen.

    • @ToddandRaquiForrest
      @ToddandRaquiForrest 5 лет назад +4

      on his Facebook page he said it came from the sound board multi-track recording, which he tweaked. It is what he does for a living, but he wanted to make sure people know that he didn't do any tuning to Marc's voice.

    • @ThatllShowEm
      @ThatllShowEm 5 лет назад +1

      No problems with it being untouched. I hope that this means more good things to come! *cough* _live recording_ *cough* (Take my money. Please.) At least they now have good live audio for more promo videos!
      I'm partially teasing, but also I can _almost_ hear the bass guitar. Which is funny... Since that's J.R. playing the bass guitar.
      Maybe that's my own personal preference, to hear a more bass-heavy mix.

    • @ToddandRaquiForrest
      @ToddandRaquiForrest 5 лет назад

      I suppose you could eq the bass. Or just get Beats headphones that do it for you, whether you like it or not. It comes through on my Sennheiser headphones, but not over driven like teens listen today.

    • @ThatllShowEm
      @ThatllShowEm 5 лет назад

      @@ToddandRaquiForrest I'm not entirely sure this comes from a teenager perspective... All of the soundboard folks I've shadowed are at least 20 years older than me and prefer a bass-heavy mix, so that's influenced me as well. Maybe they've been doing the rocker scene too long and it's affected their hearing, so they have to _feel_ the bass in the mix...
      (What?!) 😉

    • @Typhoon792
      @Typhoon792 5 лет назад +1

      @@ThatllShowEm Not to gang up on you, but I have to agree with Marc Martel Fans. The bass in this is actually quite ample, and I have anything BUT bass-heavy headphones - just neutral/accurate. It's more audible and clearer than in most song mixes I actually encounter - furthermore quite impactful. Any more and it would definitely bleed and get in the way of the other instruments. If anything, that's kind of already the case (it's actually the loudest instrument in the mix, besides Marc's vocals).
      If you don't mind me asking, what do you listen though? You mentioned in another comment that it might be time for you to invest in some new audio gear. I think I might have to concur with this statement XD. My recommendation: FiiO E10K + Brainwavz HM5's (often on sale). Best bang for the buck you can get regardless (though there may be a maintenance cost down the road of ~$35); there's a piece you can 3D print. You'd find that the only thing bringing it down in its reviews.

    RUclips ghosted my original comment from my *Typhoon792* account because of too many edits, due to a suggestion I received and some further partial corrections (yes, RUclips does that). I've reposted the comment below (here's a screenshot of the original thread for anyone interested: goo.gl/XC8RCM). Let "UQC - Beyond the Hits" be a reality! 😆
    ---
    It's a subtle matter, and nothing here was by any means bad, but maybe things are actually getting a bit OVERLY polished now. I couldn't at all blame you for it, but perhaps you're getting bored of doing the same material - no longer feeling it or otherwise challenged by it as much. Maybe it was just this night, but the enthusiasm just didn't seem to be there as it was before, where now you're seemingly miming the approach you've worked out and been taking for each of the songs.
    I contemplated whether to issue this criticism or not, but I decided to proceed with the aim of possibly convincing you to change things up - to move past the hits (perhaps even do everything BUT, to show a different side of Queen). I'm sure you would enjoy the fresh material to perform, and I'm fairly confident so would the fans!
    Having just spent an ungodly amount of time on what was originally just going to be a couple song suggestions, I actually sat and carefully considered tracks which would fully make sense performing live (though obviously not without their fair share of challenges). I ended up with two setlists which I've arranged to have further sense as far as song flow is concerned (making all considerations like for the show starting out, song transitioning, the general balance of energy/feeling throughout, and of course then concert closing out). The idea I guess would be to have this as two legs of the next possible tour, though it might be too much to learn all at once, in which case potentially all the better. If the initial touring of the first setlist is a hit with the fans/audiences, it might make sense to leave the second one for the next tour after that. If pulled off, I submit that this would be as legendary as anything gets...
    I've created playlists in Spotify to showcase the suggested flow/order (of what I'd call Queen's gems), including album art I threw together with a possible title for the tour. Notice, many of these songs were never performed live by Queen, or otherwise just rarely (one actually performed by Brian May), which I think is LARGELY to your benefit, giving you even more room to showcase your abilities (well, that and the.. quite honestly _difficult as hell_ songs I've kinda been dying to hear you sing, as nobody else has done them or would further be able to). These playlists can be checked out below:
    open.spotify.com/user/typhoon859/playlist/0i0Dp4lJJwKXByaw6fb5QV?si=CyJQqX9wQFuSlSBKxoaMeg
    open.spotify.com/user/typhoon859/playlist/1qdyizYbrYJRMiIWV2edKc?si=vZG4MiHMR3C3j4PMeQD6VQ
    Try making an unbiased poll and see if people would like to see/hear this 😊. Also, feel free to contact me for anything further, including (if interested) my thinking behind the approach to some of these songs and the transitions I had in mind. I also have the Photoshop file for the album art I can send (with different options for fonts for the title), in case it might be useful. Thank you otherwise for all the excellent work and effort (you, your wife, and all your crew and band members)! I'd be _absolutely ecstatic_ to be a part of this in any way you may further find fit.
    PS- In case anyone has a problem with the Spotify links, here are what were the suggested song and the created lists (of which any and all songs would be incredible to hear imo):
    *Set 1:*
    It's a Beautiful Day
    The Miracle
    Las Palabras de Amor (The World of Love)
    Scandal
    Tear it Up
    Let Me in Your Heart Again
    Don't Try So Hard
    One Year of Love _-a personal highlight, to potentially actually improve upon the vocals (originally rushed in the process of recording)_
    The Kiss (Aura Resurrects Flash)
    Was It All Worth It
    Spread Your Wings
    You and I
    My Melancholy Blues
    Nevermore
    All Dead, All Dead
    Dear Friends
    Teo Torriatte (Let Us Cling Together)
    My Fairy King
    The March of the Black Queen
    In the Lap of the Gods
    In the Lap of the Gods... Revisited_
    *Set 2:*
    Procession _-prerecorded and played back before entering the stage?_
    Mustapha
    Flick of the Wrist
    Lily of the Valley
    It's Late
    Stone Cold Crazy
    The Fairy Feller's Master-Stroke
    It's a Hard Life _-minus the intro perhaps, for a smooth medley transition_
    Good Old-Fashioned Lover Boy
    Cool Cat
    Innuendo
    Liar
    Gimme the Prize _-another personal highlight with respect to the vocals - just a must_
    The Hero _-would be incredible for similar reasons (I apologize in advance for the vocal strain, if decided to be done, though I guess that can be said about many of the songs here throughout >.

    • @Leander_
      @Leander_ 5 лет назад

      David Yes everything disappeared while trying to type a comment. I was saying your list wouldn't be my list. Not because there are too many songs I don't like (there are maybe 2 or 3 songs I don't like, but that could change if I heard a live version!). Overall I would say there are too few (hard)rocksongs on it and too much quieter songs. Yes that sums it up. But don't worry, if Marc would come to the Netherlands with this setlist, I sure would go. LOL

    • @David_J._Kozirovsky
      @David_J._Kozirovsky 5 лет назад +3

      @@Leander_
      This can certainly be someone's preference (as is actually mine!). I actually had to fight the urge to populate the list with more hard Rock songs because the purpose would purely be for this reason - replacing (what I would consider) quality compositions of greater substance with what would otherwise be a stylistic preference. The only one I legitimately considered is Headlong.
      From the remaining songs below, I can't find myself replacing and further finding greater value OVER any of the existing ones on the list (despite what might otherwise be my will and how much I enjoy them):
      I Can't Live With You _-this one I'd particularly love for the vocals and would be ecstatic about_
      The Hitman _-fun cheeky song and fits the category perfectly_
      Hang On in There _-has heavy parts, and contains Freddie's highest full voice note (not sure I'd want to do that to Marc XD)_
      Don't Lose Your Head _-I personally very much enjoy this one_
      Dead on Time _-kind of_
      More of that Jazz _-I think would require the original drummer with Queen Extravaganza, Tyler Warren_
      Sheer Heart Attack
      White Man
      Father to Son
      Son and Daughter
      Ogre Battle
      Keep Yourself Alive
      _-I considered "The Invisible Man" as well - also "Let Me Live" and "No One But You" for if the other band members wanted songs they could take turns singing the lead in_
      This is 12 remaining hard songs in their discography. The two setlists currently also have a total of 12 hard ones and then 11 soft/melancholy ones (I counted "In the Lap of the Gods", "... Revisited", "The Kiss", and "It's a Beautiful Day" each as being .5 as they're either really short or not entirely soft). This leaves about 16 neutral ones (not including "Procession").
      Given what I've already mentioned and the further flow that was achieved with the current potential setlists, I found this to be balanced and furthermore unbiased from projecting purely out of preference.
      PS- Again, I would strongly urge you to play the close and introduction of each of the songs in the order of the lists (using the Spotify links), keeping in mind the rest of the parts if you know the songs well enough (or simply otherwise skim through). Nothing to do with myself having put it together, but it's seriously magical (credit to Queen) XD

    • @ThatllShowEm
      @ThatllShowEm 5 лет назад +1

      I don't have Spotify premium, so it won't keep it in your setlist order for me. Since shuffle loses the flow you were trying to achieve... RUclips Playlists! (Let me know if you have any issues with any of the videos in the playlist... I couldn't help myself on a few tracks. ;) )

      I have to say... I've got the biggest grin listening to Set 1... and would *LOVE* to see these added to UQC's rotation. I'm not sure that they would be able to _completely_ get away from the GH, so it would be interesting to find a split mix that flows well.
      There's a handful on Set 2 that I feel like we need to mash up the UQC and QuEx band members to make happen. I'm not entirely sure if Marc would sing Mustapha or Bicycle Race, and Stone Cold Crazy is one that Tyler Warren typically sings... Someday? *crossing fingers*
      I wish we could have seen how well the QuEx "Early Queen"/ANATO tour would have been received over here in the US, since that setlist seemed like it had a good blend of overlooked/underplayed tracks, but still a lot of the radio hits. They risked losing a lot of folks who maybe are casual Queen fans and expected a set list full of hits, but even recently I've come across comments from someone who thought that was the best QuEx UK tour.

      Hey, thanks man! I had no idea that the free version of Spotify didn't allow you to play songs in order. Wow, what?...
      Also, I don't mind the QEx performances you added, particularly of Lily of the Valley there. I've actually never heard them do "In the Lap of the Gods... Revisited", or maybe I just don't remember since it's from the same concert as the other one. In any case, it was great to see! If you can further do me a favor though: the idea of the songs and setlist is to visualize them being performed/done on stage by Marc and UQC. The videos are kind of distracting and take away from some of the intended effect - kind of changing the transition feel, giving certain songs greater priority than others. That said, if you can actually find the high quality 2011 remaster version of each of the songs and have them in the playlists instead, that would be spectacular! Yes, I often have to resort to RUclips when sharing with those of course who don't have a Spotify subscription. Spotify obviously just has a more instant interface if used for playback and I got to include the created album art, lol.
      Regarding QEx's In the Lap of the Gods performance, I'm sure some people might be interested, but could you put it at the end of the list with an additional like blank video in between or something?
      Also, what's with the Charlie Brown at the end of the second one? XD
      Mustapha is one of those songs I've always found fans itching to be performed, just because it's so much fun and has an interesting vocal. I can't speak for Marc, but I don't see why he wouldn't do it, if that's your concern. The song is largely tongue & cheek.
      Regarding Bicycle Race, what's wrong with that? Lol. Not quite following.
      And yeah, Tyler used to do Stone Cold. That's why I'd love to see Marc do it :D
      Lastly, the tour would be advertised as "Beyond the Hits", so I imagine that would be the expectation of anyone coming to listen. It's honestly more about how they might further go about pitching it. In any case, this is something which would try to be gauged in advance. If anything, I feel like fans are getting bored of the hits, and it's mostly existing Queen fans coming to see them now. In any case, if done well (which I don't doubt), the music would speak for itself. Some of the _perhaps_ less interesting ones (though I like all of them) would be VERY interesting live, due to the fact of the beast of vocals Marc would be laying down.

      On it! I tried to limit the videos to Queen Official posted ones, since there's a _lovely_ group claiming copyright infringement on a lot of the live concert videos. Tried to find lyric videos as much as possible. I'll keep updating it!
      Re: Bicycle Race: There was an interview with Marc, very early on in the QuEx days, where he discussed perhaps being a bit uncomfortable with performing some of the catalog... I'll see if I can find the interview and link to it.
      Marc will likely still continue to draw in some fans from his Downhere days who may have missed the QuEx tour the first time through (_points to self_), or even draw in the casual Queen fan as they continue to stumble across the RUclips videos and the movie buzz. I've only recently dug deeper into Queen's catalog myself.
      ... Regarding the Charlie Brown one... on mobile, the RUclips app will sometimes default to adding a video to the last playlist you were editing - meant to put that in my "watch later" playlist, lol! Should be fixed now!

      Marc can go very low, might need to work a bit on the rock'n'roll growl, yes, but he's 99% there.

      Marc does not dress up as Freddie. He is himself on stage, and shares his own story of how the music of Queen has impacted his life.
