It’s a jet head. A mushroom shaped fitting with One orfice facing forward on the tip, and 3 or 5 on the underside of the “mushroom cap” facing rearward. The rearward ones propel the air hose and fitting forward while blowing the material out the hole. The forward facing one loosens the material. As you work the fitting in and out, it loosens the material and blows it backwards out the hole.
Thank you! I just posted this question on another of his videos. I couldn’t imagine how it was going forward since the cable is not stiff. I think I have a better picture now. Thanks
They are going to be saving electricity now .plus the dryer probably live a longer life . Best part cutting down the chance of a house fire . Do you do Apartment building laundry rooms ?
He doesn’t do that for the videos as it is more dramatic on camera. It takes more time to cleanup but the video views more than make that up. They make mesh bags that you can put over the vent and feed the hose through, and they also have special vacuum collars that you can setup; but both really don’t let an audience see what is flying out.
@@keithcleary7341 yeah you need get an industrial/commercial vacuum. The ones designed for vent work usually run a 2 or 2.5 in hose run at 300-600 cfm. Your large high end shop vacs (the ones running at 10-12 amps) will work if you take it slow, but not your average 3-5 gallon consumer one running at 40-75 cfm.
They are lucky the dryer didn't catch on fire. Never run a dryer on high. If the vent flow is restricted the dryer will get hotter until it catches the lint on fire. Never leave a dryer unattended while running like turning on a leaving the house.
What a mess. Do you have to clean that up as part of the cleaning contract? Have you thought about connecting a filter bag with a hole in it to push the hose through to save yourself a lot of cleanup time?
The reason it’s blocked? That should have only had to go in 21 feet! The vent run is waaaaay toooooo long! Most clothes dryers have a max run of 30 feet equivalent length. There will be at least 2 90 degree bends equal to 5 ft each equivalent length so you should have no more then 20 feet of straight pipe. I’ve never had a blocked vent on my clothes dryer my vent is 12 ft equivalent length. 2 90 degrees bends hard pipe no screws and 2 ft straight pipe no screws. It gets checked every year. Home builders don’t care they just want the payday.

I just go to Lowe’s and buy a new dryer vent hose and go under my house and change out the old one with the new one and then there are no clogs ever….it keeps the flow going and no buildup.
@@keithcleary7341 there are no clogs ever because I go under the house and change the dryer vent hose since that’s where it’s located…it goes from the back of the dryer to the floor then from under the floor (under the house) to the exhaust vent
@@MEEMOSS77 you’re making that sound easier than just having it cleaned is my point. Dryer lines are exhausted differently in different homes and most ppl don’t wanna go “under” their home.
@@keithcleary7341 I have a hose clamp on both ends so I open/loosen it from each end then put the new hose around the metal tubes (one at the floor and one at the exhaust vent and then just tighten the clamps back up. At Lowe’s the dryer vent hose is $20 and the clamps are $7 which is a lot cheaper than paying someone to clean it out and no build up because it’s a brand new hose. And IF I were to change it once a year (I don’t) then I only spend $20 to ensure no fires will occur
Look for Vac Systems Dryer Cleaning Kit. They make both the directed nozzles some forward facing and others reverse, air spinning air brush, the fiberglass rods with a manual brush, and vacuum accessories for dryers and hvac cleaning.
Depends on how good you are with your dryer lint trap. Every 5-7 years is probably good if you’re good. The best way to tell is if you turn on your dryer, then go to the vent outlet. If putting your hand over it feels like a hair dryer, or maybe someone blowing aggressively against your hand you are good. If the air flow is more like someone breathing, you have some blockages.
Good tip for anyone ever renovating. Do not put in flex dryer venting. Use straight solid vent systems. Do not use screws at the joints as they cause lint buildup. Also pay some attention to the way the joints face and how they fit to not trap lint. Finally Install a secondary dust filter. Do this and you’ll probably need them cleaned once every 50 years.
I wonder how many times that elbow came disconnected and all you're doing is blowing out wall insulation. I bet it's going to be a cold winter for them. I'm just kidding... It's very possible using that method I do this, type of work. all the time, but you might want to think about that.
Come on, having any issues with home is not funny!! Show a little compassion, some are doin good just to keep electricity and food on the table!!! Just sayin, its your line of work be grateful!!! Thank you!

Maybe put a shop vac hose under the hole to catch it as it comes out? Time is $$$$$$$..

Maybe he charges by the hour, so it'd be to his benefit to take longer.
A shop vac will immediately clog with just a fraction of that lint and you'll still have a mess to clean up.

In a perfect world, yes! But I would be unemployed😂
Make an attachment for a shopvac that fits the 4" duct
Not that they shouldn't diy it but if you gonna you should do it more often. We do ours every 6 months and it's a short 10 foot run.
What about catching lint with vacuum and air hose in on the side, evolution?

Why not put a bag out to catch the lint debris?
