Glad you enjoyed the video brother 👌, I try my best to make fun “edutainment” videos haha. Also ofc, majority of this channel’s support came from her in the beginning, so full love back to her every time ☺️
Sven, Back in the day when My dad was taking me fishing at the tip of the Wedge, we would pick up our tackle at Baldy's Tackle in Newport Beach. Eagle Claw was the only hooks I remember, but yet I'm talking the 60' and 70's. I'm now 62 years old. You have my blessing. Go for it!
Eagle claws been around a lot longer than I thought :o that’s really cool that they were there decades ago! How was the fishing back then? It’s always fun to hear stories from other anglers of when most people considered fishing was at its peak :D Thank you for your blessing BluesBubba c: I hope Eagle Claw finds my videos and sponsor me, it’s been about 20 videos since I started but they’ll notice me eventually 😂 Thanks for watching! 👌🎣
@@SvenGoesFishing Sven, My father was holding my hand hopping the jetty rocks at four years old. My father would fish but his real love was spear fishing. He was the Calico Bass king. He could catch those bass like they were going out of style. And big bass too! There were times when the tip of the Wedge was red with blood, due to Bonita frenzies. People that did not have diamond jigs or Spoofer Spoons would take a white rag and wrap it around a torpedo sinker with a treble hook. Bonita would bite at anything. I've seen Yellowtail ocassionally caught, but one guy caught a Dorado. It was unbelievable. I could go on and on.
Man that sounds super awesome, wish I would have been able to experience that haha, not complaining though, for me as long as there’s still fish out there to catch that’s good enough for me, even if they are dinky surfperch 😂 you can share more fishing experiences if you wanna c: I’m always all for reading those peak adventures :D
Thank you for your kind words brother, I’m glad you’re enjoying the tomfoolery haha. Fishing is still fishing, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have fun with it c: that’s the goal of this channel: catch some nice fish, teach a few things, and learn many things along the way :D
Hi Jobrosie, the setup depends where you plan to fish and what you're going to try to catch. I like to focus a lot on surfperches + possible bigger side catches so I like to use Power Pro Spectra Braided 20 lb line (Link in the description if interested). Personally, I think 20 lb is good for general purpose shore-based fishing (piers, jetties, surf, etc.) because it's still pretty strong but thin enough to spool a good amount on lighter reels. If you don't like braided line, monofilament is just as good, each type of line has their own perks so that'll be up to you c: I also really like to use high low rigs for almost every bait and wait since it's very simple to put together, you can use whichever hooks you want as long as they're the appropriate size (size 6 and 4 are usually the most popular for surfperches) for what you tryna go for. I like to use Eagle Claw Size 6 Baitholder hooks because they're pretty solid, are pre-looped for easy attachment to your rigs, and baitholders are slightly barbed on the shaft to help hold bait in place. For some reason the Eagle Claws on Amazon are pretty pricey, so for those, I recommend going to Walmart or a local tackle shop (only about 1-2 dollars for a pack). Hope this helps, let minnow if you have any other questions, good luck and have fun 👌🎣
You can send me pics through my Instagram, I should have a link on my channel page, otherwise you can find it searching Sven Goes Fishing c: send them there and I’ll check it out when I can load Instagram properly 😂
