April-May and September-October are not off-season, they are called "shoulder season". Shoulder seasons are by far the best time to do Europe, off season is not (bc rain almost every day in the Med and snow continental)
My mom did the same thing, she did a few semesters abroad in Canada and London. Even though Canada is in North America, it’s still a great idea. She had the time of her life.

One I would suggest, is bring a bag you can wear in front of you. This is essential. Backpacks and purses are easily cut open and people can steal your wallet, phone and other personal items without you knowing. Another good one, make sure to ask before you get on a trolley, train, or bus if they close. They’re not obligated to tell you when they stop running. So, you could get on 10 minutes before and they could be like all right, everybody off at 5:30. It doesn’t matter where we are, we’re kicking everybody off then! Then you’re totally lost and you don’t know where you are and you can’t get back to your station/hotel etc. I’ve had that happen! It was a nightmare. Another great tip, pack all your expensive personal items, toiletries in your carry-on. Just in case you lose your luggage. Always carry an extra change of clothing too. Also, if you’re traveling, and single. I would suggest buying a drink cover. They sell them on Amazon and they stop you from having your drinks roofied. Which my mom has had happen when she was staying in London. There are some creepy people out there, always keep your guard up. I was traveling home from Chicago and this dude was creeping women at the terminal. He was talking to multiple women, getting their number, and just acting overall creepy. He was lying about where he was from, following me around. Not just me but to multiple women and trying to get their personal information. so don’t share your personal information with anyone and be careful who you talk to. Men and women like, there’s always psychos out there.
