There are two things I find quite interesting about Ricky Gervais.
He once was visiting a childrens hospital to bring them some laughs. A child on hospice, who was certainly going to pass away very soon asked him “Do you believe in heaven?”. Gervais stopped and said “of course” and continued to visit that kid every single day until he passed away.
Another thing. He was once’s asked in an interview “you’ve spent much of your life speaking out against religion. And let’s say you win, let’s say you convince all except one man that there is no G-d. would you desire to convince that last man? To forever end the practice of religion?”
Gervais said “I couldn’t. We would lose something that makes us fundamentally human. I don’t know what that thing is, but it would be lost”

Ever since then, he looks at everything like flower, he puts himself in, he fit in fit , not the problems , from that point on he blooms like a flower.. all the nooks and crannies are just on the outside..

Now I’ve made it to 53 seconds. Can you imagine being this faithless and think 💭 you are better and smarter than the God they don’t believe in. Just wait. I said that before I heard your first response Rabbi. We are not good because we HAVE to be we are good because we want to be and because we LOVE GOD.
This place is so gross 🤮 . Sometimes I have a hard time staying engaged with this world because it makes me sick to see and hear this . These kinds people and viewpoints are such a huge part of what is so wrong here. I am SO GRATEFUL I am me and not them. The whole world, and all the money in it and everything anybody could ever think that they want here that they hold in value here I would not take everything in that world to be these these people I cannot imagine having that kind of view it is so utterly sad because God is everything to me my faith. What a shallow existence they leave and how disgusting it is that they have such a big platform. That’s the part that bugs me the most.
I saw a video where a man attacks a Jewish man in front of his children at an airport!! We are living in a time in which people are not afraid about the police or consequences for their actions. Now that is scary.
I love Ricky and I used to be an atheist as well. Thank God I'm free from that delusion now.

Rabbi with your permission , may I ask Mr Gevais ? In my NDE, upon my death , how was it possible to see without being attached to a body ? The dead are not dead then, our existence is infinite , and we have a responsibility to both living and passed, to lives !
I think Mr. Gervais was merely objecting to the idea that one MUST be religious to be moral. There are compassionate atheists, just as there are deeply religious people who do awful things. If you only do good because a Holy Book tells you do, are you actually good? It's an interesting question that touches on where morality comes from, nature vs. nurture, etc.
In my case, I've been deeply spiritual (though not religious in the traditional sense) almost my entire life. This has been tested over the last two and a half years, though, as I've battled with poor health. Two and a half years of praying for answers, for relief, for truth--only to hear silence. After a while, you start thinking maybe no one's listening.

I would say it's a matter of education , sociaty needs to convince people that it is not a good idea to preform crimes. It works well in western sociaties.

If I walk outside and I have to worry about the killing you describe, my outlook on walking outside is very different. If I don't want to have to look outside with fear and paranoia, I definitely have a reason to prefer treating each other well.
The "RULES' you are talking about are the RULES of our ancestors, encoded as "dictated by god". We just happen to be the recipients of the cultures that chose cooperation, because the Vikings had a different set of Rules, ordered by their gods.
You have misrepresented what Gervais said. I believe in one G-d btw. But what he is saying is there are lots of people who only choose not to murder because they believe in Gd. Its pretty straight forward. An its true. Lots of people will tell you the only reason you shouldnt kill someone is because the big G told you not too. Thats it for lots of people. Id suggest trying to do as little harm to each other as possible, because we live in a society and are not animals. Which clearly means not to hurt each other. Its simple an easy to follow unless you need to be vengelful. Which religious people really want to do all of the time in the name of the creator none the less.
Ask these gentlemen if they have a memory of they creating themselves. No? Then someone else created them (and the rest of us). Now they will know that there is a Creator.
The ironic part is that the idea of a creator is, itself, demonstrated to have been created.

Thank you Rabbi Friedman. I am personally falling back in love with this world and trying to pay closer attention to the goodness of others and their unnoticed acts. For example, the fast food worker who serves many people each day with patience and kindness. Going to a grocery store and seeing the shelves stocked and all the varieties. The work of those who woke up in the early hours to provide that convenience for so many people. There is so much hidden good that I have taken for granted. So I think for me, I have to have a deeper acknowledgement and appreciation for things like this. For a lot of people, getting up in the morning is such a courageous act. Keeping a smile and sincerity day in and day out regardless of their socio-economic status. Hoping that each person knows how much they are truly valued and wanting them to always be heard in the way that is needed.
That seems to be a very xtian thought, they think they are excused for behavior when they want to, it seems they beat themselves up most times, regretting their want to after wards…. With the excuse he knew they were merely humans and forgives them….. if only people would do as they want done unto them instead of what they want to do to others, the world would be better in just that thought and action
