      I'm an American and I cried for a week. Elizabeth was my second cousin, you see, and I admired her a great deal. Victoria was my 3 times great grandmother. Her daughter, Princess Victoria, was my two times great grandmother. Her son-in-law, Kaiser Wilhelm II, was my great granduncle. I am a duchess myself, by birth. Charles is my second cousin once removed, and William is my second cousin twice removed. It is so hard to remember to say King, when all my life, it's been Queen. I rather thought she might outlive me, haha. I don't think anyone is going to break Her Late Majesty's record of longest reigning monarch.

    the reason why Edward VIII abdicated is simply cuz the Anglican Church is firmly against divorce, or more specifically marrying a divorcee (as it signifies that the prospective new Queen is not a virgin). While the Church is slightly less restrictive against men divorcing, as the emphasis lies more on the woman being divorced, it is still heavily frowned upon and as the head of the Anglican Church, the British Monarch must obey the sovereignty of the Lord God. In Charles' case, while it was still frowned upon, it was decided that since he already sired heirs with his legal wife Diana, she already fulfilled her duty as a Queen, so Camilla didn't need to. But the Church was still adamant on not hosting a Royal wedding for a divorcee, so their wedding was held at Windsor Guild Hall, not a church.

    People do realise that in History, the Kor-I-Noor was given to Queen Victoria by her husband Prince Albert, who always had the diamond cut down due to him believing that the shine of the jewel wasn't quite right. Am I the only person who ever paid attention in school?

    The criticism & hate for Meghan Markle is too convenient & misplaced. Prince Harry spoke about lack of support in his life for years. And because he married someone who showed him unconditional love & a different way of life, she gets the blame. Meghan may not have been an A-lister, but she made her own money & was business savvy. Both she & Harry said she was taking care of the both of them when he was bound by the firm & unable to earn his own money.
    I often ask if this would be an issue if she weren't mixed or American.

    • @antoniacosta6221
      @antoniacosta6221 6 дней назад +1

      That’s the point. It wouldn’t be an issue if she was a white Brit. Meghan is also a divorcee so there’s an extra layer of shit the family can throw at her.

      Well, go back to post divorce Diana for the answer to that question. "The Firm" didn't have a problem with any guy she dated until it was a man of color. Then they had her stalked by the paparazzi to the point she was murdered by them. They never had a problem with a single woman Harry dated either.... until it was a woman of color in Meghan Markle. Then the media was told to go on a full on racist blitz against her. That family has ALWAYS been a devoutly racist family. Kate Middleton is a racist. William didn't learn a thing from his mother about how to be a good person, and instead took after his racist, father and grand father. Meghan was the one who made Harry look at things through her eyes, having dealt with racism her entire life, to understand things and he started getting it and basically left the Royal Family because of it. Yes, Harry had his demons, but he's clearly learned from his mistakes and comes across as a genuinely good guy.

  • @murmursmeglos
    @murmursmeglos 5 дней назад +4

    Harry and Meghan continuing to exploit and leech off their titles is a current annoyance for many people. Harry backtracked on the racism accusations against his family, though it is ironic that he's responsible for multiple racist moments from the past.
    Not sure why colonialism is constantly held over their heads when it was many countries and their governments that were responsible. Same goes for slavery, Britain was just slightly better at it at a certain time, if it wasn't Britain it was another Empire doing it.
    Perhaps they could give back jewels and other acquisitions gained from the past, but if that sets a precedence, many countries have things gained from others, including from Britain. Will it turn into a free-for-all. Britain could demand reparations from being ravaged by Romans, Saxons, Vikings, Normans....but people realize it would be silly to hold the present responsible for the past.
