Hi Olu, thanks for your interesting videos about New Brunswick. I'm planning on coming over for a grad program and I'm happy to have come across your channel.😊
lovely videos, Please can you do a video on all the social benefits available to new immigrants landing in New Brunswick ranging from child care benefits, etc. Thanks!
Hi Olu... I just stumbled on your channel today. You already made me fall in love with Moncton. I can’t wait to come there. Hopefully soon, I got an admission into NBCC Woodstock campus but I doubt if I will like it there considering the fact that I am a Lagos babe 😀hopefully I can change my campus to Moncton when I arrive by God’s grace. Fingers crossed 🤞🏿
Thanks, Olu! We're thinking about moving because of the affordable housing. Would love to know your thoughts about the differences between the three big cities in NB.
Hi, Sure I can do that. I went to Fredericton a while ago and I love the city. Will share a video and what i discovered pretty soon. And hopefully talk about Saint John as well
Moncton is the largest and fastest growing city. Very large multicultural population compared to the other cities. Fredericton is a government town, not a large city and not nearly as large as Moncton or Saint John. Saint John is on some hard times, but if you are in for the long haul, dirt cheap properties and the view of the ocean and trails are unbeatable. Moncton though is the most diverse and fastest growing economy. We moved close to moncton five years ago, we have land so don't live in the cities, but its growing all the time. Mountain Road now has international grocery stores all up it. Asian and african. Just found a great african store, ogbono and fufu and all the things I never thought I'd see after leaving ontario. And its likely only going to grow faster. Housing prices are starting to creep up, so now is the time to do it. Saint John is reputed as the 'friendliest city in New Brunswick'. Its mostly english and blue collar, but as I said, its hit hard times. Most of the affluent people live outside it in Rothesay and other towns just outside the border. But if you like to see the ocean, thats the place to be. Its also the warmest part of the province. Moncton has the 'tidal bore' which is a tidal river that comes up with high tide, and down when it goes out, but its brown so not real pretty and people don't really go into the water. Beaches and oceans are not real far though, neither is Nova Scotia or PEI.
I love your enthusiasm and hope people are nice to you and your family because I personally do when I see new immigrants here in New Brunswick I like to make them feel at home and knowing that people of colour are not the norm here. But to me all are welcome Bye the way how is your French level now ? Just to let you know my primary language is French.
That's so thoughtful of you Christian. thank you for showing love and support and being open to immigrants 😊 My French is at level zero 😄😄. I am hoping I get to learn sometime soon. Merci Monsieur 😊
I got cold feet, bought a place in August and rented it out because of this pandemic. I keep looking for a reason to get out of Toronto at this time. After watching these videos, am beginning to warm up to it. Its a great place but I got cold feet due to pandemic slowing down jobs and small businesses.
Hi there 👋. Moncton is a great place, however I understand why you may be hesitant. The pandemic has disrupt alot of things, but honestly Moncton economy is doing better than some cities in Canada. We can always hope for the best
Affordable Housing is right. I'm shocked at what you can get for $200,000CAD. There. In Southern Ontario that money can't even get you a 1 bedroom apartment anymore. But in Moncton you get a 3 bedroom house with a large backyard. I've actually been thinking about moving there because I could sell my place in Guelph, ON and live mortgage free there. But I've never been to Moncton yet. :) So I think I might visit soon.
So true Shawn, though real estate is booming now and houses are getting a bit more expensive, but not compared to Ontario 😊 Alot of people from Ontario are moving down here to settle. You should come visit during summer, hopefully covid is done with by then. You will love it here 😊.
A lot of people are moving due to a cheaper house but many have moved without jobs and if everyone relocates to a place that already lacked job opportunities it can get worse
