I'm enjoying this video. I like that there is no talking....It's just fun to listen, and glance as I do my computer work.....I look up when I hear the loco rev or the bell or the whistle...Pleasant. The decoder sound is just good enough that it does not irritate me! Thanks for making my Saturday work...a bit more enjoyable...
Thanks for watching! Glad to help you enjoy your work day! I’m hoping to get more time to make more, but I’ve been busy at work, so I haven’t had the time I’d like. This could be the motivation I need! Thank you!
Well done video, George. Realistic switching operations and nice use of people figures in some of the scenes. Excellent locomotive sound and smooth movement. Thank you! Mike Armstrong
You are one of few model railroaders that has a conductor on the ground to simulate throwing the switches!!!....... very nice and slow prototypical switching. Your layout detail reminds me of the work and detail of Lance Mindheim!!👏. Nice touch with the squealing brakes and ramble of that locomotive.
Timrathmore thanks! I actually got the idea from watching MoPac HS video archived from old 70s new-hire videos telling them how to actually operate the trains. Safety and walking from switch to switch to line the route. We, as modelers, tend to focus on the equipment and forget about the people of railroading. Who lifts the pins, lines up the couplers, lines the routes? Glad you like it. I’m hoping to get more time to shoot video and finish some if the structures now that hockey season is done till October. Thanks for watching!
The sound on start up seems spot on👍👍 Amazing! Gearing is good starts up smoothly. Very impressed. That size layout seems perfect to just run some trains. Size of flywheels and speakers in HO engines definitely has me thinking.
shift intohigh this layout is about 20’ long, so I use higher momentum settings to help make smoother starts and stops, but also the operators (mostly me) have to think ahead and apply brakes to stop where necessary. The Tsu2 is great for this!! Thanks!
CSX RENSVILLE thanks! The speaker can be the tricky part. If you have to remove too much, you can replace it with moldable lead from A-Line. I’m Having fun. I use high momentum and then have the brakes stop the loco faster, so I can coast, then set the brakes to stop where I need to. Hope you enjoy the T2! Thanks for watching!
I notice that you have taken the "trip pins" off of the engine and cars. Looks so much better. Much more prototypical. I have added the magnetic joining air hoses. Not cheep but they look and operate great. The ground throws look great also. Hopper car cupler at 8:46 is almost to high to stay coulped.
David Curtis I’m in the process of installing the magnetic hoses myself. The first batch all dried up and broke off. Got new ones, but haven’t installed them yet. This includes a few coupler height issues I have yet to fix. Thanks for watching!
How did you get the "clikkity clak" sound to play with other sounds? Its something frequently overlooked but really adds a lot to operation. Awesome video
SwordsmanSteve it’s a Tsunami2 feature. You can adjust the volume and axle count and spacing to match the loco it’s in. Check out the Tsunami2 User’s Guide for more info. Thanks for watching!!
brakie44820 yea. Time for some shop time. 😂 Maybe when I get the new Athearn Genesis GP-7s in, i’ll have some down time for servicing the loco. Haha! Thanks for watching!
I just love this RUclips video. However, I don't understand why a beautifully restored 1970 Olds 442 is on a backwoods gravel road where it will get completely chipped up and a cracked windshield. The owner of that Olds must be a complete fool! Or drunk.
He drives it around on the layout in many places. Guess he’s brave! Haha! Thanks for the kind words and Thanks for watching.. I have another ops video shot, just need time to edit. Stay tuned.
George, what's with the 'appearing and disappearing' conductors when you throw a switch? Is that some form of magnetic control or just for show? It looks pretty cool!
Thanks. It’s difficult to film him walking away, so he does tend to appear and then disappear. Haha! Guess I need to play more with the stop-motion app.. Thanks for the Sub! I hope to get more content coming soon.
Lots of industrial opportunities in Fort Smith in the 70's, and an interchange with FRISCO and maybe even KCS. Most of the mainline MoPac action happened in Van Buren though. This is where I grew up and used to raifan. Had a route I'd drive at least weekly from downtown, past the FRISCO yard and turntable/roundhouse, then over to Van Buren to grab shots of the diesels being fueled and sanded.
You have a beautiful layout. The Railroad Police must watch the cars full time. I don't see any cars with tagging ( grifitti ) not even shipping stenciling. It's the little things that makes a great layout. Thanks for sharing. God bless.
James Carryl there are a few. I need to get some “Rambler” tags out of my photos and on come cars! Thanks for the compliments and thanks for watching! Hopefully I’ll have some new stuff soon. Been finishing up some scenery this past week or so
BossSpringsteen69 I’m going to try to play with the stop motion app on my phone and have him actually walk from switch to switch to throw the points. I do have one video on my page with a stop motion Jeep running up the crossing, train passes and the stop motion is back on. Kinda fun to set up.. thanks for watching!
Couldn't hope noticing a big yellow box truck and what appear to be two Pennzoil liveried NASCAR Cup cars. As an auto racing fan, I like what you did there - although I tend to root against any Penske driver who isn't Josef Newgarden. ;)
DinsdalePiranha67 actually, those are the 29 Pennzoil Chevy RCR car (at the time) driven by Kevin Harvick. Good eye. They were available by Winners Circle in HO and I have a lot of them. I wrecked up the Penske #2 driven (at the time) by Kurt Busch. Haha!
@@goaliegeorge Cup cars tend to all look alike to me - especially since I don't follow NASCAR that closely anymore. So I assumed they were Joey Logano's cars, and like I said, I don't root for him because he's a) not Josef Newgarden and b) a little punk. ;)
Josedav I did do a light overlay of floquil weathered black to try and fade some, but yea, a little more hands-on weathering would do the trick. I’ve started experimenting with oils and so far, I’m very happy with the results. And also, side note.. the red MP used tended to fade to an orange color. Still playing with these ideas to best implement this. (I could have just claimed they washed it.. but nah, too boring.). I figure I’ll address this when I open it up for a SoundCar installation and the Magnalock rubber brake hoses are installed. 👍🏻👌🏻😉. Thanks for watching!
Wow, *really effective* inertial motion and sound! The timing and pauses were also great: I had the same sense of "okay, what are they going to do next?" Feelimg I get when I am really watching trains. I also love the way the way the cloudiness and subtle coloring of the backdrop blends with the foreground -- it genuinely reminds me of my railfanning in the Asheville / Hendersonville area of Western North Carolina. Again, the sound and physics truly make this operation real to me. 😊❤ Love the brakeman riding the shoved boxcar at 12:00 💜

Sometimes the best video are the simple ones. One locomotive, good sound, simple switching job, and a detailed layout! Nice George, very nice.
Next may be a double SW1200 TSE job. TSE for Traveling Switching Engine. Now I’ll have time to do more trains!!

0:42 "ding ding....di....ng" that's a prototypical bell!!!!
Very nice switching. I've just installed a Tsunami2 in my GP38, used the Soundtraxx speaker. Had to take a chunk from the weight to make it fit! Keith

I have a B&w photo I took of MP2117 at North Little Rock in 1979. I would post it here, but I don't know if that is possible.
I don’t believe it can. Wonder if you can post it on your account and then link it here so we can find it..?
I’d watch more of these for sure...nicely done!
Sounds like the 2117 needs shopped for new brake shoes. Nice job!

Benchwork currently being built for my MP layout. Set in Fort Smith, Arkansas, 1970s era

Great! Thanks. I should be able to shoot more this summer w/o hockey. 👍🏻
Nice Video, but do you have an overview over your switching layout, a trackplan in one of your videos?
Horst-Helmut Henßen one will be coming soon. Just need to edit the video. Thanks for watching!

Caboose needs aging process- (rusty, brownish, burnt coloration would be better) looks out of place w/ the more realistic scenery...
