But all does not go smoothly upon his arrival in the glamorous, hedonistic metropolis of Vice City. He's set up and is left with no money and no merchandise. Sonny wants his money back, but the biker gangs, Cuban gangsters, and corrupt politicians stand in his way. Most of Vice City seems to want Tommy dead. His only answer is to fight back and take over the city himself.

@@unnamed2000 I think he means that this is the first robbery where the player takes part of the robbery. In The Getaway mission in GTA 3 the player is only the getaway driver for the robbers.

This mision was fun but don't let that distract you from the fact that Hillary's mission was completely pointless because the idiot gets killed in the driving getaway and Tommy has to drive.
I hated Hillary’s mission, like you need to beat them in a race to hire them as a getaway driver? By beating him you just prove to yourself that Hillary is a bad driver.
His car was explosion/fire/bulletproof though and you can get it into your garage
Everyone in this mission was useless except Phil and Tommy they might have aswell done everything by themselves. The one that had to open the vault needed the director and the driver got killed immediately. Also if you fail this mission enjoy the drive back to the bank and several minutes of unskippable ingame cutscenes cause Rockstar wasn't even able to make at least one proper checkpoint when you get to the bank. Oh did I mention that the Swat team outside the bank doesn't stop chasing you even after you lose your wanted level for some reason? And in the end you only get 50.000 from this heist which is laughable to say the least. This mission was utter BS... Fun my a$$. Vice City and 3 aged so poorly compared to SA. The DE made me remember why I hated them and had only completed the originals once in my life out of stubbornness before the DE. It's incredible how much more modern and better made San Andreas feels in comparison despite being only a couple of years more recent compared to Vice City.

Since this DE has added number plate feature to vehicle, it changes when doing the paintjob. So, that numbers plate is the reason cops lost them.
@@advang4820 I'm guessing that it's also the same case to other vehicles that can't have their colors changed like the voodoo, zebra cab, gang buritto, cuban Hermes, and the stretch and love fist limousines... They all sport the same color and then they get their license plate numbers changed so the cops can no longer recognize them once driven into a paint and spray

I Remember how Cam died in my first walkthrough and though Tommy said “more for us”, but reward remains 50k. That was some disappointment.

I remember failing this mission because one of the guys got ran over right before the heist even started.
Fr I think that was a bug not sure. It would happen every other attempt.
This just happened to me after like 10 tries. They always keep dying.
Hardest part of that Mission is to keep your teammates alive 😱

Hilary King must've been the most useless team mate in gaming history. He's told to be the best driver in whole city, we have to race him with much worse car than his for what? So we drive to the bank anyways and later on he drives few metres just to get out and get his ass blasted, making us do all the driving in the end

The hardest part of the mission was to cross the road when we stopped by the bank. Cause one of these idiots always get run over by the car.

Just beat this mission last night on my Switch with only 3 Heath remaining, all while keeping Phil and Cam alive. Once the SWAT team raided the bank I thought I was gonna die, but by some miracle I made it out and got to the pay and spray with both my teammates in the cab. It's a miracle I passed this mission, cuz I would've slammed the shit out of my controller if I played this on the PS2 version of the game!

Fact: if Cam Jones dies, the mission will not fail. This will be commented on by Tommy and Phil in the final cutscene, with Tommy cynically saying there's a bigger slice for them.

Well that's more like your problem if you weren't able to beat Hilary in the race. Also Hilary dying after the robbery was quite realistic because in real life things also often do not go as planned.

Hilary King was no doubt the most useless character in the history of GTA. R* incorporates a mission where you're placed in a slow Sentinel racing against Hilary who's placed in a Sabre Turbo, and the story is to beat him so he'll be recruited as the Driver for the bank heist only to die (and rightfully so) leaving Tommy Vercetti to drive anyway. In retrospect, R* was quite cruel to us fans with their logic and missions sometimes. lol
Back in grade 6 we used the flying car cheat to beat Hilary in that mission.....

The escape part is so frustrating because I either die by the swat team or I get rammed once I get in the cab and the other guys just casually walk to the cab and I blow up
Back in the day when we was impressed, when we saw that mission.
No one has any idea how much work it takes to convince Hillary to join Tommy who's supposed to drive the team to safety with his skills but instead dies on the way out.

These heists in every game was fun, but the best planned out and perfectly carried out heists is in GTA SA and GTA V, all the others were like carelessly carried out.. With no sense of like Consequence

Yes you are right. In the original versions of the game Tommy also aimed his gun at the people in the bank in that scene.
When I played this mission on the Definitive Edition a bunch of hostages started to gang up on Cam and beat him to death lol
tires are screeching literally every time he is hitting a turn no matter how fast you are going. Also there is only two ways to drive a car in vice city… either like a total maniac or not at all

I enjoyed failing this mission. Because if you’re walking around the outside bank, it’ll fail the mission and the text will call you an idiot.
If you crash the car too many times around on the way to the bank, there is a hidden dialogue between Hilary and Cam
It was very smart of them to use fake first names of each other in this robbery instead of their actual first names.
Especially Cam, who literally owns a shop called "Cam's Can Openers". I wonder how long it would take for the bank manager to figure that out
they missed the Opportunity to make funny nicknames for example Hilary should have been called "Tanner"
I remember finding this mission so fun that I replayed Vice City just so I can have a save file right before this mission to replay it over and over again, at the time I didn't really know any other way to replay missions
Phil Cassidy is one of my favourite characters in the GTA series.

Hilary is supposed sit in the front seat next to Tommy and Cam behind him in the back seat. Hilary could move his seat back which would take away room for Cam's legs and therefore the "Hilary's taking up too much room!" quote makes sense.
2:28 there's a missing talk. There was a talk there. Tommy said: "Ok guys, just as we planned" (something like that). OMG, even this Grove Street Games scruwed up on this The Trilogy The "Definitive" Edition.
Every single dialogues that Tommy says during a black screen are screwed up by GSG, this is definitely a proof that they didn't even do a play test after they finished "remastering" the game

It was a crime the fact that Rockstar romed the classic version of the trilogy from the Steam, PS Store (of the PS4) and from the Xbox Store (of the Xbox 360, where there was only the the port of the mobile version of GTA San Andreas if I am not mistaken).

Because Tommy wanted Hilary to prepare and focus more on the getaway drive after the robbery but Hilary decided to sacrifice himself for the other guys.
