Joey, I just happened to think about this. You're actually recycling your water. By draining water into your yard, it is going back down to your well system. Being purified through the earth. Pretty cool!
Joey. If you put a ball valve somewhere on the drain pipe, you can just close the valve every time you move from tank to tank, then open it again. Water will get sucked out and you won’t have to go lift the hose anymore.
@@onejohn2.26 I'm on city water, so I try not to do more then 25%, there's additives you can get that will help combat the chemicals in the water, I add a few drops in my filter and I'm golden, I have no idea if this is proper, but I've never had an issue doing it this way
Thank God the tap water in Denmark is completely clean and free of any chemicals. Makes waterchanges easy. Drain the aquarium and then a hose at the tap. 😊👌
Joey please keep it family friendly brother! I struggle to find content to watch with my son and this is a hobby we both enjoy together and you are a great watch for us. Family friendly content keeps me coming back!
This is why I love Joey so much, he could have made it to where he wouldnt have any work other than turn valves. Instead. He shows that you can still keep up fish tanks just like everyone else with that many gallons. Inspires more people to keep fish.
The thing I think everyone should learn from this video is simply to get motivated to try and figure out how you can speed up your water changes! Joey has always made me think about what I can do to speed things up so the hobby of having fish tanks doesn't feel like a job. :)
Yes. I loved this video. Put you on the TV and did my water changes along with you. I got a 220 g, 180 g, 100 g, 20 g and 10 g. Always fun to have company while doing water changes. You should do more of these and just talk about random fish stuff, what's new, any cool new things you found or like.
Actually, I thought that was one of the best videos. Having a good, easy & fast (given the size of the fishroom) approach to routine maintenance is critical in being able to keep one's hobby effort going for the long haul. THANKS !
Thanks for this video. I've always loved cleaning my tanks, even when I had 5 different tanks (saltwater, goldfish, planted community tank, planted barb tank, discus tank). It's like working meditation for me.
Another lockdown😥🙏 sending you all Good vibes and prayers!! Well looks like we are going to have more good stuff coming up in the gallery ❤️😁 I'm getting ready to do some more water changes myself along with you the King of DIY😁👍💦 I hope you're having a great day!! Thanks for all you do Joey 🙏🌿🐟🤗💚
You can get a water alarm that you can hang in the tank when the water gets close to the top the alarm will go off and even give you a notification on your phone if you get a Wi-Fi one
Love the work you do! And watching your videos. When I degrease my car I use a small container with a handpump on top of it that builds pressure in it. Then it has a botton you press to let it out. See if you can find something like that and fill it with that spray you had so you don't have to push it that much. I don't know if you understood what I mean, my English isn't that good hahah have a great day !
Hey put a lock of valve on your pvc section. Once you lock it off before you remove it from one tank to the other, it should not break the suction so you wont have to keep adjusting the hose or sucking in the end.
I have 3 large tanks in my office, a 300 gallon, a 150 gallon and an 80 gallon. By far the the thing that takes the longest when doing maintenance is waiting for the water to drain. It takes me about 2 hours to do 30% on all 3 tanks. I really like that large siphon method to help speed things up over using a pump. It often seems like the best ideas are obvious in retrospect and Im kicking myself for not using bigger hoses in the past.
Joey, why don't you add a valve on your syphon, then you can maintain suction every time you move the syphon to a new tank? Would only need one sucking!
Joey I know you must hear this all the time but you are an incredibly bright person with all the methods you do even down to the syphon hose pvc device you made I love that it drain out each tank to an exact 50 percent on all the 120s very precise also how you are constantly moving one drains one fills and with presion I love it also I have a 540 and a 220 and a 75 I to have aros unfortunately I’m in the us so no Asian are for me you inspire me to be a better fish keeper I would love to have the scape in one of my tanks you make them look so natural I love them my hat goes off to you and I have learned so much from you good sir so I thank you your awe inspireing I need that algae scraper tank on broski👏👏👏👍👍💪💪💪👊👊👊
Yes most of your viewers might be males of the same age but just dropping a comment to let you know your female viewers exist!!! Watching all the way from New Zealand! Lockdown free over here! Thanks for always being so happy to teach us Joeyi have been watching your videos since well before this fish room! Back when you had the built in wall aquarium for your original arowana! So been a fan for years. Much love from me and my fish! ❤🐟🐠🐡🤘
Flame buffing will work on crazing. And possibly your round tank that is now a filter. Practice on a piece of scrap. You can use 300 grit lightly, on it and practice before doing it to your tanks
Novus #1 is my personal favorite for polishing glass/acrylic. It also leaves a "velvety" layer on the surface. You don't need near as many as sprays from the bottle though
Sir, you are indeed a master of efficiency. I'm new to the hobby, so excuse me if this is an ignorant question. How do you condition all that water?...btw, subscribed and alerted. Funny how the first video I saw Of yours was the one where you announced you're closing the at-home gallery. Now I've got to go back and do a little catching up. I think it's amazing that you've had such a following over the years. Congrats from Georgia, USA!
I just watched your "Cleaning all my aquariums" video, very cool, wondering what brand magnetic algae scrapper you are using, it looks like it works very well!!
14:40 get a pressure gage for your sand filters and then you can judge when they need to be back washed. The dirtier they are, the better they filter. Also don't forget to rinse/flush after back washing.
You may have thought about it or maybe somebody did gave you the idea of putting float valve for your water refills. Much safer, prevents overflows and flooding if ever you got caught up onto something... 😁
I use a garden hose put through a hose bender for a washing machine drain with twist screw clamps to adjust the hose length to drain my tanks. So I can do small and large tanks with it. I have it linked to a tap in my laundry with valves so I just flick a switch to change between draining and filling. Because I can adjust the host length in the tank by how much is coming out of the washing machine hose bender I can set it to drain and walk away and it will only drain to the end of the hose in the tank.
If you spent 2 hours a day making a system to do water changes automatically, do you think this would be a good time investment for you? I 100% think you should do an epic DIY build series for this. Keep it up, love it!
I made an automated water change system a couple years ago or so. It worked but as with everything in the gallery, I didn’t stick to that method as i use the gallery to show multiple ways of doing things.
Ever thought of having a website to watch your tanks? Like each day of the week move the Webcam to a different tank and people can login and watch the tank. Just idea and great for people that can't or don't have tanks
Hey Joey if you use a ball valve with a quick connect for the hose and hang on the side if you don’t want to fit permanently water will turn off on its own at the height you set
SO, if you use an outdoor spigot, they generally flow about twice as fast as a faucet does... just so ya know. but at the same time you cant temp match that way
Right now I only have a 90 and 75 so it's easier but when I still had my 55, 40, 35hex, and 30 (mostly all juvie tanks) as well, I was doing it the same way, and when a guy works 5 am to 5 pm everyday it's a life/time saver
They make a Hudson Float Valve V1" for Cattle and Horse water Tanks that you could use to shut the water off automatically when your tanks are full. That way you would not need to catch the tanks before they overflow. Just a thought
You mentioned loosing heat during winter time doing water changes. jimmy rigging some arma flex pipe insulation would allow you stay efficient during the winter time. Just slit it and run it up your doors. Or you cold just plum another access from your well. Idk I’m an Hvac tech so plumbing ain’t my forte. Your the king of diy so u ought to be able to figure it out.
"There's only one other thing that can make my forearms that sore" 😂😂😂 subtle 😂
Lol
A good workout!! 😂
Right after he talks about trying to make it family friendly 😂😂😂😂 that was gold
Really subtle 😏

Also on hose ball valve in the fillers

I was writing the same comment untill I saw yours lol
@@JurgenBoes I stopped myself as well. Lol
Great idea with the over hang drain. I just learned another thing from you. I’m gonna put one together. Thanks Joey!!
All hail King Joey!!
😁 I've been wanting to make one but I really like the shower drain on the end of it 👍 great idea!! All hail 🙌🤣😁👍
For everyone wondering how he using tap water, his water source is a natural well, he mentioned that as long as he has cycled media he's golden
Yes, I knew that and was going to say that if he was on city water, then what?
@@onejohn2.26 I'm on city water, so I try not to do more then 25%, there's additives you can get that will help combat the chemicals in the water, I add a few drops in my filter and I'm golden, I have no idea if this is proper, but I've never had an issue doing it this way

For once I've done all my water changes yesterday, and can watch Joey do tank maintenance guilt free.
Yeah I looked at my tank after this and said sorry to my fish, I gotta clean that thing haha
Lol nice dude
This video was awesome, I like seeing the reality of what you do. It's nice seeing how things are done
This is why I love Joey so much, he could have made it to where he wouldnt have any work other than turn valves. Instead. He shows that you can still keep up fish tanks just like everyone else with that many gallons. Inspires more people to keep fish.

We have lockdown since november 2020.
Waiting until 'Joey's water change camera' is the third most watched channel on RUclips.
Joey, I love these type of videos, my favourite ones are you making filters or changing around tanks etc.
Great video!! Please do a video on cleaning / vacuuming the gravel / sand in your tanks and cleaning your canister filters...
Great video. You've got a great system.
You can get a water alarm that you can hang in the tank when the water gets close to the top the alarm will go off and even give you a notification on your phone if you get a Wi-Fi one
Every time I watch your videos I feel like I need to step by game up. Thanks for the great video
Wow that is amazing .... You only do that for a couple of minutes.... Thanks for sharing ideas ❤️
Really cool to see how you do this. Love the pond vacuum, really clever! Much love from UK
Joey I love the video length, please keep them coming!!!
Joey, get yourself a wifi water valve, you can turn the water off from the gym and don't have to hurry home!
44 years old and female watching since the start :P love the tanks btw

Sooo sounds like Joey telling me I can get more tanks.
Just don't buy the cheapest hose like I did, it's hard to roll up. xD

Try using a small garden pump sprayer for the glass cleaner... maybe Fritz will send u a few gallons to test.
That’s actually a good idea
I didn't think I'd find this vid interesting and you proved me wrong!
Smart ideas. Very effective with time management.
The Fritz Cleaner! Thanks for the tip 👍
thanks for inspiring/reminding me to water change today
Really enjoyed that Joey nice one 👍🏼
Great job, Joey.
for filling the 2000g, could you use a toilet 'cistern valve' or float valve to shut the water off for you when it reaches the desired height?
Yes or an automatic timer with solenoid like they have for sprinkler systems.

You should switch to an electric or compressed paint spray unit for your glass sprayer. Theyre re-fillable and you just pull trigger. They work great.
love all your videos

That is really cool how you made that pipe.
I enjoyed this video.

How do you have the cheek to say you are a family friendly channel and then go on and make that forearm joke. Shocking Joey, shocking. 😂😂
Sumps easier to maintain vs canisters. Nice to see the filter socks, easy to remove and clean while sump still on.
I just watched your "Cleaning all my aquariums" video, very cool, wondering what brand magnetic algae scrapper you are using, it looks like it works very well!!
Get some pex and run your water lines. Great vids!!
I have salt and fresh also. I ended up using AI 16 HD led’s reef lights. I like the colors of the reef light vs freshwater led
14:40 get a pressure gage for your sand filters and then you can judge when they need to be back washed. The dirtier they are, the better they filter. Also don't forget to rinse/flush after back washing.
Proud to break your demographic😁 72 year old granny. Totally hooked!! On my way to clean my tank. My fish say thank you.
Have you thought about adding a shut off valve to the hose? That way you could close the valve and maintain the suction.
Probably left this comment a number of times before on other vids, but no, now this is the best vid ever on your channel
Rather than doing my water changes I’ll just watch Joey doing water changes
I would suggest plumbing in some soft lines and a couple of float valves
You may have thought about it or maybe somebody did gave you the idea of putting float valve for your water refills. Much safer, prevents overflows and flooding if ever you got caught up onto something... 😁
13:00 use hose timers. You can set the digital rainbirds.
It's called an oleophobic layer left on the glass. Resists finger prints. Well it resists oil, so finger prints are oil.
