The sheer number of tourists and expats means that there is a huge enough demand for all kinds of cuisine all over the world. It's an absolute delight to see what you can find in Bangkok other than their already great Thai food.
My same reaction if I’m being honest. It’s like when I found out that gator farms are a thing in Japan (though very, very few) and how you can find alligator meat for sale. I found that out via there was an anime pop-up cafe of dungeon meshi that served alligator feet to look like dragon’s feet. Honestly the worst part of the gator to serve imo but still kinda caught me off guard when I learned of it, as gator farms and meat I’ve ever really only seen/eaten/talked about down here in Louisiana. Also heard they occasionally serve black bear in Hokkaido, so hey I keep learning odd things about Japan every day 😂

Most restaurants are serving frozen fries. It isn't worth the effort to blanch them and cool them and risk your teenage prep cook screwing it up. But frozen fries can be totally fine, you just have to find the right brand.
Most places like this that say "free hot meal and coffee" are doing so for the elderly/homeless that legitimately can't afford it. Unless you come in without a shower for 2 weeks dressed in rags, you're expected to pay
Hey, I'm from New Orleans (birthplace of the poboy and shrimp remoulade), and I gotta say that poboy looks suprisingly legit, and the remoulade doesn't look too bad either. The bread is definitely not the "French bread" we use here, as ours is pretty specific, but it's damn close. And the remoulade's sauce looks a bit watery but still seems nice. Of course I imagine it's not gulf shrimp, but I really can't blame em for that. And I've never seen shrimp remoulade on a poboy, but hey, not a bad idea actually! In summary: based on looks alone, it's a 6.5/10 relative to New Orleans standards, and probably like a 8.5/10 by "outta town" standards. I've had a much more dire looking poboy at the place half a mile from me...and don't even get me started on Baton Rouge poboys *shudders*
@@Werewolf_Korra Alligator sausage is somewhat common, like you're not gonna find it everywhere you go, but it's not a crazy shock to see it on the menu. There are some creole places in the French Quarter that specialize in it. I've never had a gator poboy or seen it on a menu, but I imagine they definitely exist. I've only actually had gator meat a handful of times, it's not too bad, not really fishy like you might expect it's closer to pork or chicken if I had to say.

Japanese in general are meticulous. It wouldn't surprise me that the chef had gone through several iterations before finalizing his/her recipe, especially to suit the local palate.
I ordered gumbo as my appetizer at every restaurant I went to on my trip to New Orleans. It was interesting how different the recipes were from place to place yet using the same ingredients. But all was absolutely delicious and made with love. When you eat gumbo in New Orleans, you taste the love.😊

That "Hello Old Timer" sign font is old timey and great. I just wish the food and menu inside was just as old timey. They should have music to fit the atmosphere as well. Fries should be fresh, it is the easiest thing to make.
