I worked at the Country Kitchen in Tacoma Wa 1978-thru 1980, as graveyard line cook. Building was exactly the same. So I know exactly how everything was set-up/layed out...
The only thing that's changed are the logos. The building still have the same design on the outside today. Didn't know that's. Only country kitchen I've seen besides mine, was a motel/restaurant.
That sign looks rough but not 30 years rough, and near Lake Erie no less. Google Maps shows it uncovered and open to the elements going back to 2008 but it would not shock me if it was covered when it first closed, and for some time after that. Great video Wallie!
A lot of people tried to compare them to Bob Evans but let me tell you at one period of time they kept busy. Was very close to a Bob Evans too. I haven’t been down that way in awhile though. I live in Grafton so I will have to make a trip soon.
Despite them having the same name, Carlson spun off Country Kitchen in 1998, but kept Country Inn and Suites, today Country Inn and Suites is owned by Radisson
Crazy Abandoned In South NJ like Wawa, BK, Urgent Care, Checkers, Famous 50yr old Red Lion Diner that you're Welcome to film before the wawa that is planned get built & others!
I'm pretty sure it hasn't been closed 20 to 30 years. I did a bit of research from someone reviewing the Bob Evan's right next to that Country Kitchen, and their service and food was poor, and the name of the review was "Try Country Kitchen Next Door", and this review was left in 2015. Even if it closed around then, that's only like 8 years.
Couldn’t of been that long. My daughter was born in 94 and after we left the hospital we went there for lunch. I now live nearby, used to live in Elyria. Born & raised in Elyria.
Because Bob Evans is right next to it and they probably want to lease too much. Probably rents going to be high. OK. See you in the next one buddy. 8:13
It is a shame that nothing went in there after Country Kitchen. It is amazingly good shape after being empty for that many years. I love the inside of the building. It is unique but has a cozy look to it. It is so sad that the economy, or people that think it is worth a goldmine, keep places like that from re-opening. Great video.
Would make a nice Chinese Buffet place now, that would probably fold up a year after it would open up then place would be then demolished finally hahaha
Love ya Wallie but even you know there’s no way it’s been closed 20+ yrs….you’ve done 3 yr old gas stations tht know ok like they’d fall out if you snnd

My buddy worked there in the early 80's during high school (we're both 59 now)...and yes, we are both from Lorain.
Lived 1 mile from this place, Best 3am after bars closed eats. Many memories.
South Park honored this company in the Grey Dawn episode, hilarious!
Awesome Wallie
That was a unique building. It probably didn't help that County Kitchen that a Bob Evans restaurant was nearby.
Or dennys
Ate at one in Buffalo almost 30 years ago. Long gone. It was good too! The roof on this one looks fairly new, so I doubt it has been closed very long.
Most definitely close to 30 years I was a young adult
I cooked there many years ago.
Cheers from Spain, very nice video.
It's insane the amount of closed businesses in that area.
Not just in this area
@@ericfreshcorn3590 yes I live in northeast Ohio
@@ericfreshcorn3590 I think I've been there... My son did powerlifting in high school and I think they had a match there
Midway Mall is not doing good either......I"m from Lorain....
We still have a Country Kitchen here in Pueblo Colorado
There's still a Country Kitchen building in my town. Maybe 20 years since the last time that's what it was. It's been several restaurants since then.
The owner also owned another one in Sandusky back in the day. And when I worked at Builders Square I sold him the lights.
Good video! Not a bad looking place on the inside! Can't believe it has been empty for 30 years!

wallie thanks for sharing this video awesome video like always :D That was a unique building.

Saw that Bob Evans. I realize a lot of places have a lot of sodium in they’re foods and many other food choices do too but Bob Evans definitely does.
A lot of things have a lot of sodium.
@@GhostTweeHubBub Well yes of course, so I fixed my comment to suit you.
I’ve lived in Elyria or surrounding areas for almost 30 years and have never seen that open and midway mall used to be very busy bout 15-20 years ago
I was born and raised in Lorain. I don't live there now.....left for good around 1984.
I always wondered if the Country Kitchen and Country INN are related. The font is very similar. I know there still is an open location in Lebanon, OH.
Carlson created both chains, and named Country Inn after Country Kitchen, which is why their logos were identical, save for the text.
Despite them having the same name, Carlson spun off Country Kitchen in 1998, but kept Country Inn and Suites, today Country Inn and Suites is owned by Radisson
Very cool video
Thirty years isn't that long, since the last time I was in a Country Kitchen was in the mid 70's when I was a little kid of maybe 6 or 7!
It's hard to believe that place hasn't had any tenants in 28 years...
Yes that place looks relatively new
I am from the area and can confirm it has been closed for at least 23 years
There is a restaurant/ ice cream store on Broad St in Elyria that has a similar story. Friendly’s was the name
I love ur videos
Thank you!
Yes almost 30 i remember thelast month they had a very smal. Menu
We had one in iron mountain mi are close down for every
This Place Was Closed in 1993 interesting it looks good still
If you come through Arkansas, come visit Camden. We have trains and abandon buildings. 😂

I know there used to be an L&k nearby but not sure where. I was just a kid. I think they turned it into something else.
I have a friend who work at a county kitchen
❤
Are they still in business? Cos I wanna know who did the *everlasting* roofing on that joint. Thanks Wallie! 👍
Wonder if this was once an old Red Barn restaurant at one time?
Across the highway (rt. 57), there used to be one.

well... '94 is nearly 30 years ago. I fairly certain the place was open 10 years ago. @@deborahchapman7882

That was the logo from 1992-1998
Sadly with the economy, I see many video opportunities for you soon.

that must been worked on, since no way it looks like good for 28 years being abanboned
That "Arlington Inn" used to be a Knights Inn, then it changed hands a few times... I guess it's "Arlington Inn" now... whatever..
We used to rent a room and party at the Knight's Inn back in the early 80's.
